i went sunderland, west ham now middleborough... couldnt get a game at west ham who were third in the rankings and I couldnt get in the team! Sunderland I was ok, had a couple of starts in the end but no goals... Middleborough play three strikers it seems so I decided to move there, more oppurtunities!

Im still in my 1st season @ west brom (probably cos im playing 15 min matches lol) but am really enjoying this mode in the game.
I am on the bench now & started 1 game, i picked my position as a right winger but every time i have been brought on as a sub it has always been as a CF but i still havn't scored yet (although hit the bar with a power header in a game) or gotten any assists, has been a bit frustrating so far but i think since i have played the teams results have gotten better.
I think i get decent ratings just by coming for the ball & dribbling quite a bit (where possible) without losing the ball & also obviously getting as many successful passes as possible all add up.
I think i will concentrate on getting my speed & pasing stats up quicker than the rest & see what happens.

Gaffa08 whats the combination for Agile?
Agility? I'm not sure you can improve this stat, if you can, I don't know the combination sorry :(

this sound really good maybe i should try it lol.
As I've said, be careful, just use the first few seasons to balance your player, then once you feel its time, concentrate on specific points for your player. :)

ahhh i spose, short inter-play was a key feature when I was SS but as CF you're instructed not to pressure as quite often I end up as a Cf with no other help up front, the lone striker with 5 MF's.

Ahhh well, just wondered what else except the obvious goals would boost my rating! Emile Heskey-like!
If you play up front by yourself, just lay the ball off for others and try to bring as many players into play as possible, then when your wingers are bombing down the flanks, make sure your in the penalty area.

Great stuff mate, cheers for taking the time to write that all down, i'll use it to ensure my player concentrates on improving the right parts of his game
No problem, glad you find it helpful :)

When you start off in the training team, Its all about getting a highier rating than everyone else who plays in your position.

When you are in the team, then you only need to match what everyone else who plays in your position is getting.

Pass completion is very important and any chance you have to pass it easily then you should do so.

Also, don't move from club to club every chance you get otherwise you'll never play.
Just stick with the team you are with (your not going to win anything in your first 2 seasons anyway).
Yup very true, I'm at my beloved Liverpool now and I'm here to stay. But before Liverpool I was at... Portsmouth, Man City, Spurs and then Arsenal. I was going to stay with Arsenal until that Liverpool offer came :)

My stats are coming along quite nicely, only problem being is that I get overpowered off the ball a lot..was thinking that the power rating would help this?.

also, I just moved from Newcastle (I was a regular starter there) to West Ham cause they were 4th and I wanted to play in Europe but now find myself down the pecking order and am in my 5th training match and yet to be included in the inter match squad....grass isnt always greener eh?...haha
I would say body balance and dribbling are the main stats for holding onto the ball. It seems there just throwing you off balance. Look at players like Messi, Tevez etc... Their not the biggest players, but its hard to push them off the ball. :)

yea i get that, i mean sent off a lot! my aggression stat is very high too! i dive in, i think in frustration.
I've got a couple yellow cards, but never a red. Use the balance strength and this will improve your defensive ability. Also, improve your response ability as you will intercept passes, saving you the hassle of using the slide tackle.

I startes at West Ham moved to Fulham moved to Paris SG moved to Pamp RoJo moved to RC Deportivo moved to Toulouse and now im at Torino (got the wanderer achievement)

Thanks to a guy named "Benotti" on a dutch forum he has put a list for "Bal" where all the points is assign to after a (training) match.

In the menu 'strengthen', you will find 6 categories, which you can assign 0 to 6 blocks. One plus sign in the overview means one training block, 2 plus sign means for each training block you will gain 2 points (if one of your category has the full maximum blocks (6) the attribute will have 12 points each match). Next to this you will have match experience points as well. As you can see for the category Technique (kicking) will have the most advantage and Stamina very less. Finally this depends also on your position which you have chosen.

if anyone's still looking at this thread....... is there a way to influence your starting stats in the become a legend mode? I've played the scout match bout 12 times as a SS but the best i've ended up with is 82 for speed (which i'm happy with obviously) but shot accuracy 63 even tho I scored 2, technique 56, shot pass/long pass 58, dribble acc 60 etc.... my player is just really rubbish, i've tried doing different things like dribbling more and passing more in scout match but doesn;t seem to have much of an effect...... any tips??

Well you have to look at it this way...

Your 17yrs old. You can play the game until your say 35. So you have 18 seasons to improve. Its not fun completing the game in one day, gets boring very fast. I play AMF, I've been mixing my strengths and I've got almost everything in the 70's (in my 4th season). Speed and stamina are my main stats, in the 80's...

Just give it time and he will grow.

cheers,I will perservere then, just wanted to make sure I wasn;t doing something wrong. Was just thinking of the ace 17 yr olds from previous versions in ML - shaw, griffiths, prieto etc and wondering if there was a way to get your player to be as good as them initially. Have fiddled my strengths to try and get my shooting and passing up more quickly initially so will just see how it goes.

How can you train your stats ? i've seen the strenghts screen, but i had no values to add ?? I could modify one stat, so that the other increases...

Will have to read the manual again i guess... :D

Well like you see, you get 12 bars. You can only fill a maximum of 6 in each strength. The more you put, the higher your stats for that strength will grow. Try to balance them when your first starting off. Don't go for kicking straight away thinking you'll end up like Gerrard because it doesn't work like that :)

Yes :)

If you go back a page, someone has posted a screenshot telling you how to get specific stats up by using the correct strengths. :)
