I have taken the time to put down the effects of the strength training.

There's a few stats that I haven't mentioned. This is because you have to combine the different strengths to get them up.

For example...

Technical (dribbling) + Speed = Dribbling speed

Balance + Power = Heading (points wont go so high for heading if you ONLY use power)

Balance + Speed = Response

I've just put the main ones down. Feel free to add your own combinations. :)

Do you win extra blocks with good performances?

Also, when I set speed to five, it still didn't go up a lot.

If you play well in a match, you get "match experience points". Strength experience points will go up the same whether its a training match, or normal match.

Even if you max the bars, it doesn't go up greatly. But the more bars you put, the faster it will grow. Just be careful when doing your strengths, don't focus everything on one thing, switch them every few weeks or keep everything at 2 bars for the first few seasons.

Nice one! :)

No problems, hope it helps :)

I've also noticed I've gained a position after playing for a while, I started out as an SS, but because my team didn't play that position, I ended up at CF most of the time. I've since gained a checkmark at that position. Is this because I was playing the position or because my strengths began to resemble that position?

Also, do you ever gain special abilities?

Yup I've gained a few positions as well. :) Started off as a AMF. Now I can play CMF, DMF, AMF and SS. As for special abilities, not too sure... I would say you get them when your older, say around 21-26 years.

WTF? HTF?

I pass my ass off, get quite a few assists, goals, yet nothing... I'm not really bothered though. I've got my club now and here I stay. :)

what level did you start off at? I ambitiously started on top player, the game itself is very very very hard! have no speed to beat people and score (position I put was SS, end up playing mainly CF)

I have the same problem. Started off as a Shadow Striker but end up playing CF. Never get the ball (yes I am calling 4 it), but when I do I can't do anything as I'm so slow and pants at everything. I get so frustrated, I either end up chaing back to my own area to get the ball or get sent off.
What shall I do?? Delete my saved profile, start again but as a midfielder?? Or just carry on??

Carry on. Don't call for the ball unless you are in space. No need to use the sprint button too much, just jog & turn and eventually you'll figure the best way to shake a defender.

If you're unsure about positioning, press L1 and the AI will move your player to where you ought to be. Main thing, don't rush. Make space, & take shots only when in a good position to do so. It'll come as your stats slowly improve.

i'm in too much of a rush to shoot and try and score to get a good rating, presuming as a CF thats only/main way to get rating high!!

Not really. Scoring from any position will guarantee a better than average rating, though it is possible to score 2 goals and still not rate higher than 6.5.

If you're struggling to find the back of the net, but want to keep your rating up, keep moving to stay in space. Not just to make your team pass to you more ofter, but also to allow your player a little time to control the ball. Then pass to the nearest possible player. Keep your passes short and direct. no clever long balls or chip throughs. More sucessful passes = higher rating.

Remember the golden rule: Keep it Simple.

ahhh i spose, short inter-play was a key feature when I was SS but as CF you're instructed not to pressure as quite often I end up as a Cf with no other help up front, the lone striker with 5 MF's.

Ahhh well, just wondered what else except the obvious goals would boost my rating! Emile Heskey-like!

:chanlaugh: Not scoring that ofter certainly works for him!!

I know what you mean about the lone striker though. Hull seem to like abandoning me up front as well. Dropping back & making the passes does see to coerce the midfield into moving forwards though. Needs must until your stats are high enough to go it alone.

Getting into the team and staying there

When you start off in the training team, Its all about getting a highier rating than everyone else who plays in your position.

When you are in the team, then you only need to match what everyone else who plays in your position is getting.

Pass completion is very important and any chance you have to pass it easily then you should do so.

Also, don't move from club to club every chance you get otherwise you'll never play.
Just stick with the team you are with (your not going to win anything in your first 2 seasons anyway).

My stats are coming along quite nicely, only problem being is that I get overpowered off the ball a lot..was thinking that the power rating would help this?.

also, I just moved from Newcastle (I was a regular starter there) to West Ham cause they were 4th and I wanted to play in Europe but now find myself down the pecking order and am in my 5th training match and yet to be included in the inter match squad....grass isnt always greener eh?...haha
