Best "war" type game for PS2

Ive played a few, not as many as you lot I would imagine so could you please suggest a few, also ones that are available to play online would be great.

I am talking about games which I enjoyed like Call of Duty, Medal of Honour, and Conflict - Desert Storm. Ive heard of Battlefield and never played it - is it similar to those Ive played ?

had it on my xbox unfortunately the fat bastarding thing broke shortly after I got the game so I never had a chance to play online.

Yes mate get Brothers in arm's.

Battlefield is for online play only, no story or anything in single player, you just shoot bad guys.

I liked Conflict Desert Storm 2 as a multiplayer

and a while ago SOCOM 2 was fantastic, I couldnt turn the PS2 off because I was so into this game, Im not so into SOCOM 3 though!

One of the best 'war type' games out now is Tom Clancys:Advanced Warfighter absolutely brilliant mate

Out of the "few" games I have tried the Conflict Desert Sorm ones are the ones I preferred most as on C of Duty and Medal of Honour you cant seem to move around very much - I mean they have the route planned for you and you cant really stray too much

Battlefield 2:Modern Combat hasnt got the best of graphics and the vehicles blow up crap and the guns sound poor but it is a quality online game is easy to play but at the same time hard because online you must find new places to go and hide (stealthily take out people) and unlike Socom there are many different ways to approach a level. CoD 2 is a good game but you can snipe from miles with a sub-machine gun and the weapons sounds are even poorer that B2:MC but it is still a fun game to play online because you can upgrade your character with bonuses when taking part in games.

SOCOM is great IMO because I love the 3rd person better than 1st. plus you have more freedom to wander around in levels...which is a lot better than being restricted

It was a great game to play. it was extremely addictive.

And i can`t remember them saying "oo...right up the vagina" :erm:

yeh im 99.9999999999% positive... i was a russian pig and shot a tommy in the head and the guy went "oo...right up the vagina" and there was another famous quote in the game: "lets have it! right up the arse" (arse sounded like arros) well funny

I was asking myself the EXACT same question a few months ago. I have both Call of Duty and Conflict Global Storm, both great games.

Battlefield looks OK, but if I was you I would get it on PC. More suited to keyboard, and better online community.

DO NOT GET Ghost Recon: Advance Warfighter, it is apparently amazing on an XBox 360 and HD TV but on PS2 the graphics are shoddy and the AI are dopey.

I can't wait until Rainbow 6: Vegas, also check out Syphon Filter. That is meant to be good, but it being old it won't have a real online community anymore.
