What is the best way to defend against online people who uses Barcelona and tries to dribble through ur defence with Messi, henry and etoo for the whole 90 mins :crymore:? It seems so hard to stop them online yet offline Messi's dribbling is quite useless... :spank:

Yes, I know about this method, pressing X to send computer to pressure ur opponent, I was wondering if there is another way? the problem with this is the open spaces ur teammates give when they start charging at Messi or C.ronaldo, I sometimes would fill the hole myself but it aint the best way....

The answer is that u cannot defend against these cunts online because the difficulty is set to BEGINNER and this cannot be changed.

Because the game is set to uber-n00b level all ur defenders stand around like dicks leaving loads of space and tackle like dicks....oh and of course, your goalie is on acid as well.

The best u can do is play a formation with 3CBs and 2DMFs (if one DMF is Gattuso, then even better), and also alternate between 2 SBs or WBs depending on the flow of the game. This used to work a treat for me on PES5 to scupper the dribbling queens but on PES 2009, u just have to take the lameness on the chin and force urself to play even more lame than ur opponent......Or just turn it off, never play Pro online ever again and go and buy FIFA 09.

there is NO better word to describe them

Or just turn it off, never play Pro online ever again

And the fact this is also the case really pisses me off. Why is the online game SO POOR?!

Thecat is right. There are a fair few un-imaginative, one-trick pony's out there. My advice, beyond the above, is play with friends or like-minded individuals with good connections and hope that paralysing lag doesn't raise it's gorgon head during your games (like it has in mine )

i name my room no man utd or barca for this very reason it's frustrating to always play these people who think they are the dogs balls when really they are the dogs arse hole
in 2008 i could play every match without tackling it was a real art form but in 2009 you cant stand off or you will be slaughtered
or stick to internationals its not half as bad and england have a great defence

What an awful word that is , but it's a lot better when you type it in lower case "beginner".;)

I like picking spain, and its quite unrealistic how rooney can dribble through puyol, ramos and marchena in a flash... the speed is overpowered in this game. I bet everyone just checks the acceleration and speed of a player... who cares if he got bad body balance or weak shot...

You talking about passing the ball around midfield and defense or being gay and hide by the corner flag, pressing R1 (shield the ball) and waste the fuck out of the time? if u are winning, hell yea, i do that against barcelona all the time, those kids have no football knowledge, just wanna exploit the bad AI defense.. Try dribbling in pro mode offline, its quite hard... opponent defense close you down with 2-3 ppl automatically... its a shame online is set to beginner, otherwise we would really see a lot of 0-0 games...

you cannot change difficulty level, hope next update will add that feature... i mean, why not leave it to the gamer himself? Some ppl like beginner level (those who just bought the game and are not comfortable yet with online mode), other like semi-pro and others top player!

As has been mentioned before. The fact that the game is set to beginner online is most probably to limit lag by reducing the amount of information that will have to be sent between the two consoles/computers via the server. More complex AI means more information means more lag.

Instead of thinking of cheap ways of combating lag I think Konami should perhaps invest a million or two of the money the keep fleecing from us with their unfinished product on a dedicated server with dedicated online maintenance teams. Getting decent ProEv online shouldnt be a problem when u think of all the mmorpg that operate perfectly well with thousands of gamers online all at once or even PC shooters like BF2 with 64 players all getting up to madcap antics all at the same time.

I dont have a scooby about coding or anything like that but if FIFA which is overall vastly more complex a game than ProEv can have 10 V 10 online, and have it work perfectly 99% of the time, then it is nothing short of ridiculous that ProEv cannot even have 1 V 1. It can only be a question of lack of investment and nothing else.

Too late for me as a consumer to make my point. I paid for my copy of ProEv and cos I really like the game itself, I never took it back to the store for refund like wot happened with Pro Ev 2008.

I always used to play a 433 formation with a team like Chelsea on PES4,5 and 6 (I never played 08 as it was crap online) and generaly I could cope with the likes of Messi by good positioning and good basic defending.
Like you, I find this type of formation is useless on PES2009against Barca as my defenders are totally exposed and continually going one on one with Messi or Henry and getting skinned.
I decided to change to Man Utd. and play a 451 C3 formation with the 3midfielders pushed back as far as a midfielder can go and Rooney and Ronaldo pushed wide to give you an attacking outlet.
I now find I can always double up or triple up on all the Barca attackers allowing me to block or out muscle the likes of Messi most of the time. This has forced my opponents to actually try to play the game with intelligence and not just give the ball to Messi all the time and to be honest most of them have no plan B if the Messi option doesn't work. I'm sure this formation could work with other teams who have skillful wide players like Chelsea with Cole for instance.
