Anyone else noticed the refs on top player and how they are seemingly coded to give certain decisions to the AI, after last years debacle with the refs I am surprised Konami have the audacity to include refs that favour the AI. I am not saying the ref doesn't make the right decision with regards to the foul on the AI, the problem is he ignores the same foul that happens to you.

An example

If the the cpu uses the pressing animation where it barges you in the back until your player stumbles the refs sees this as a fair tackle, when you do this its a foul(and rightly so). There are some decisions given for the cpu that would never go your way. Not a major concern but irritating when the bastard ref costs me points when he is playing for the AI:realmad:.

Anyway back to my Master League:D

I've had some shocking decisions consistently go against me. Namely being hacked from behind and the Ref not even giving a yellow card. In one match I had this happen 3 times to me and I had a player sent off for a similar offense which was pretty irritating as you can imagine.

Yeh thats another one, the AI is incapable of getting sent off now in pes. This is what irritates me, if i do the same the ref is desperate to show me a card.

Its better than PES2010 though, I played a league with a mate days before PES2011 came out and the amount of times we were hacked outside of the penalty area and we didn't get free-kicks was mental. Penalty decisions were even worse, I forgot how bad it was. I was chopped down in the area by a defender who wasn't even close to the ball and they got a goalkick! What made it even more funny (I had to laugh because I'd have started swearing otherwise!) is that I made a great slide tackle side on won the ball and got a red card! No follow through, not a awkward angle but a straight red ... for winning the ball!

Yesterday ref gave me yellow for a foul on ME!!! I was shocked! It happened when I was trapping the ball, defender pushed me from behind, then some strange animation appeared-strange twist of his leg and body, he fell and yellow 4 me! And comment was even better "that's almost an assault". You can get a yellow for standing still.

Well, I notice that you can sometimes serously foul a player on the opponents half if he passes and the ball arrives, the ref will not blow his whistle then. But put a little pressure on him in your half and its bingo time for the ref.

Also, clean fouls by the opponents often do not get penalized by the ref while you get cards because you slide at the moment a cursor switch occurs ...

I agree that sometimes when you get barged off the ball play continues without a second glance from the ref, but if you win the ball but crease the CPU players shirt on the way past it's seen as a foul with Jon Champion pipeing up saying "Easy decision for the referee, free kick". My best one was going for a diving header from a corner, which went over FYI, but because I touched a player on the way through the ref blew for a foul, but these things happen, I think a lot of it is if your tackling with an attacking player who are not supposed to be great at it. So I can live with it.


As for cards, I don't get many anyway apart from for diving when I don't mean to click the right stick but it happens sometimes when trying to pull off a trick. I have seen CPU's get red cards as well as many yellows, one was sent off for a nothing challenge really, didn't even think it was a booking, but I wasn't complaining.

The only gripe I have with the refs in the game is it seems if I'm losing 1-0, I only get +1 min injury time and that's MAX, most of the time it comes up +0. But if I'm winning 1-0 and holding on by the skin of my teeth, a nice +5 mins will happily appear at the top left of my screen........oh the joy, more nail biting defending.

In PES 2010 you got more of the decisions when at home than you did away, I don't know if this was implemented into PES2011, it was a nice feature and quite realistic, maybe the governing bodies of football didn't like that in a game lol.

But as they say in real football "the ref has the hardest job on the pitch" so maybe we'll have to live with his little mistakes :).

After making this thread the cpu got a really soft sending off which a bit hypocritically delighted me as I went on to beat the 10 men of ajax 4-0. Forget what I said about the refs they are perfect:ninja:.

In all seriousness the refs have to be more consistent next year, no point having a new defensive system if cheap fouls go unpunished.
