Why Is Bolloxmasta Banned?
Someone Explain
The ACTUAL story as opposed to the warped version you're likely to get:
We had a hacker on these forums who used up to nine usernames over the years. After many hours of investigating on my part, I chose to ban all of the IP addresses used. Some of those IP addresses were also used by bolloxmasta - the only username on those IP addresses I believe not to have been related to the hacker.
Over a week later, we get a thread in this section about how we admins have banned bolloxmasta - which we did not - and how we should reverse our decision etc. etc.
Nobody has even acknowledged what I'm trying to explain which is that IP addresses are location-specific and if ALL of bolloxmasta's IP addresses are now banned - and they clearly aren't as he's been online this morning - then he lives in virtually the same house as the hacker which is far too coincidental. I'm not saying he is responsible for the hacks but for a user to have so many IP addresses matching those of a hacker, they have to live in very close proximity, not just the same city but the same part of the city.
Everyone is basically saying we banned bolloxmasta when we did not and he was still able to access the site from the IP addresses he uses which had not been banned as the hacker had not used them to log on himself.
Bolloxmasta then commented in a thread spouting abusive language and claiming he wants to be banned permanently so he can take his "crew" with him. We didn't ban him - he was able to post that message - proving he can still access the site and that the whole notion of us having banned him is false. He has, however, been banned for 48 hours for the post he made as it is against forum rules which he knows fully well.
He is welcome to return when that ban is served, if he doesn't that's his own problem and decision which has not been forced upon him by anybody.
The fact that the only users commenting on this clearly don't leave the PES sections and are therefore completely oblivious to the history of this hacker is pure ignorance on their part. Its been big news on the forum that the vast majority of regular members know all about.
bolloxmasta isn't by a long shot a hacker, sorry but its the sites loss,
May as well close this thread Don Sweeny, don't think these people can read.
gillian2k4. I was being ironic.Why the n? :faceplm:

is it not a bit harsh to declare people not knowing of this hacker story being purely ignorant? nobodies sayin they don't appreciate the work people put in to run this site, but because my personal interests of logging in are purely pro evo related, as i'm sure are many others, doesn't necessarily make us all ignorant, as it was pro evo that led us to find this forum.
and also, you've said whilst its not been identified as bollox actually being involved, then maybe if he isn't, which you've not ruled out, then being punished either through his ip, or ban or whatever, just imagine if he's not guilty, then if i was him, after all my time & work put into his patch to share for others, i reckon i'd end up feeling like i wanted to release a few expletives as well!
