I am a huge fan of pes and have been for many years altho i must admit i did use to like fifa alot and i still play fifa from time to time(not near as much as pes tho lol) but it was when i played my first game of pes4 at a freinds house when i really started to get into pes. pes4 and pes5 was the ultimate in football gaming experiences for me, i remember those stressfull but realistic 0-0 draws and those matches wer u had to defend a 1-0 lead like ur life depended on it and then those satisfying matches wer ur team was unstoppable and ofcourse i rememba scoring those perfect goals that demanded to be saved onto your memory card. these wer the days wen konami had the grasp of real football and it showed in pes4 and pes5.

2 or 3 years have passed since pes4 and pes5, and in that time pes6 was good but it didnt quite cut it 4 me. Now itz 2008, next gen gaming is at itz peak but we find ourselves struggling to understand pes 2008 and itz many dissapointments so i think konami need to look at what everybody loved about pes4 and pes5 and make pes have that satisfying gameplay and extensive edit mode agen but with a next gen flourish and we will be saved from these past 2 or 3 years of madness with konami. anyways i've babbled on enough, now whats ur opinion on this?

Good point, I remember not being able to stop playing the older versions, they were just so playable. Not sure if PES has got worse or it's just nothing seems as good the older you get ;)

It gets worse, age is irrelevant. Stick to PES6...

I agree with most of what you're saying, except this. Next gen gaming is far from it's peak yet dude. Most developpers are still very much INSIDE the box and their games are still very last gen.

My favourites were PES2 and 3. Since then, they haven't quite been as more ish. I can stop playing 2008 after a couple of games, whereas before I had to force myself to stop! Fun times. See what PES 2009 brings (potentially with an EXTRA year of development).

I'm sorry but didn't like PES6 at all, I'm really giving this one a go because I think there are improvements but the last really playable game was 4

I agree 4 was class, but 6 is the only one i know will run on my PS3...

I was reading in gamesmaster or something like that, Konami where saying they may bring out a pro evo 09. They said they wanted to go back to the drawing board.............

Pro Evo 3,4,5 where assume..... 6 was ok, and 08 is better than Pro Evo 6 just

It's very simple in my opinion - PES 2008 is a bad game, and after 1 or 2 weeks it gets as boring as a game can get - it's not Football, it is more like FIFA than Real PES.

On the other hand, I still play PES 2007 - And it never gets old, it's just a good game, with good game play. I guess Good Graphics and Game Play is something very hard to accomplish. Or maybe Konami just didn't really work hard enough on the game. It sucks for all us PS3 owners because there's nothing we can do about it.

fick i still dont get why ud play pes6 when we have 2008, it is marginally better!!!!

I never played PES6 - But I can assure you PES 2007 and PES9 are both better than PES 2008. Pes 2008 is just bad, end of story - bad game play, bad editing mode, the worst online play, etc, etc.. Isn't worth buying.

I'm gonna stick up for 2008! The update has solved a lot of the slowdown problems and we all know the accessories and modes of play are terrible on this game but I DO think that the gameplay is an improvement, definitely there's a long way to go in terms of realising the potential of PS3. I would always sacrifice Master Leagues and licenses for good gameplay and I think this is an improvement but Konami needs to do better in the future

but for me it's much better than PES6, best game since 4

Everyone's entitled to their opinion.. But I don't understand how you can say that PES 2008 haves some of the best Game Play - PES's 2008 Game Play is bad, everything - and I mean everything (Defending, Attacking, etc, etc) depends on Pace. I mean, Pace is not even that important in real life - Pace without Skill is nothing. And yet a player with a Top Speed of 95 and a Dribbling Accuracy of 50 - Is likely to run circles around Defenders and score a goal.

I don't even like moaning about PES, but there's nothing good I can really say about PES 2008 - Do I like the Robotic Movements?? No. Am I satisfied with the Online Play?? No. Do I like the crappy game play?? No. Do I like the lack of feeling of every aspect in the game?? Definitely not, etc, etc.. the list keeps on going.

I agree that pace is the most important skill in pes, but as far as I can remember it was the same in earlier games, and especially in pes5. You could change directions in full speed without ever slowing down (!?!?) wich is ridiculous really.
As far as gameplay in PES2008 has improved I´d say yes, the CPU controlled players can actually make some unexpected plays!! Wich I find very positive when I play my Master League with a Fix player. When you do that you can see that pace isn´t the most important skill! In fact, players with highest stats aren´t even sure to play the best! How about that?!

I'm shocked at the heat pes2008 is getting here, I've not stopped playing it since I got it in October, I had a break of sorts when I got Mass Effect and started replaying Halo 3 again, but still I literally cannot stop, everyday I play an hour or 2, sometimes on days off or weekends it's about6 hours. But I will admit its flaws, alot of the game really gets me annoyed but if you can see past the flaws you will probably learn to love it in my opinion. I've got it on the 360 but I dont have live anymore so I cant comment on that aspect, and it certainly isn't my fave pes that is pes5, but it is definatly in my top 3.
