Master league on the second hardest difficulty level and I have ended the season without a win and few goals. Any general tips? I have tried keeping possession but can never do much in the final 3rd.

thanks.

mm.. dont know what to say really.. if youre using the default ML team.. then its always very hard to score with these..if you want to make it even easier for yourself then try using an exhibition mode team.. or bring down the difficulty.. though to be honest.. proffesional difficutly isnt really that hard at all.. maybe try re-practising in amatuer and work your way up the difficulties.. because obviously your struggling with knowing how to play.. maybe starty over even from beginner.. learn the controls better.. good luck

thanks for you reply. i started on the new season and won 1-0 and tied 1-1 on the same difficulty. One of my problems was that I was sprinting all the time on offense. I have cut back on that unless I was in a position to make a quick turn and it is working a bit better now. I just have to learn how to get shots on target and away from the keeper. I have to learn how to vary my passes and stuff.

i don't know what's your preferred kind of play...
but i used to play 4-4-2 with my RB & LB set-up as CB so they stay behind the ball. not to get rushed over from a counter...
use strikers with good header ability's, en side-midfielders with good speed and drible ability's. rush down the side (with your SMF) and kick the ball in de box. normally it results in 5 out of 10 goals, when you have a good striker.
just make use of the space on the side of the box. English teams (like in RL) are not used to play against that kind of play.

i'ts a bit cheesy, but it works. i still use it when im desperate in need of a winning goal:rolleyes:

Pass the ball around the back and use the wings. Through balls. Crosses. Don't forget the different types of crosses and crossing stances.

Hey I suggest you press sprint button lesser make sure you got space to sprint so you can turn better and dodge defenders easier and your shot will be more accurate

I struggle now and again to score and i am in my first league since i bought the game and notice that i can't play PES 2009 the same way as i played 2008. in 2008 i used to use the sprint button a hell of a lot and therefore i am struggling a fair but in the 2009 game but i am getting there but it is sooooo frustrating as i was really good on 2008 but can only play 2009 on regular so far until i get the hang of it.

Any tips would be good

Try to cross the ball, cause pes09 seems made header eaiser than the previous title. I guess cross is one of the better option.

agree
use crosing alot after setting the strickers as CF position from the edit in the formation then this will be a good change
press O/B 2 times not 1
you only need time ,good luke

Pressing R2 after shooting is very helpful to me. It is supposed to give more direction to the shot but It will slow it down I think.

I know this may sound a bit strange but its still a valid idea....

Try changing your seating position, i.e, where you sit where your actually playing the game lol

Par example, whenever Im sitting upright in a regular chair or sofa, I cant play for shit, im terrible in this position,

But when im lying down on the floor, for some reason i play a hell of a lot better lol

So try shifting around lol

I beg your pardon?
My tip would be to slow it all down. Stop thinking about scoring and think about passing to players in space all the time. You will, as a by product, end up in the box with the ball.

Many people think you need to be running about all the time, you'll be amazed at how much easier it gets just by standing still for a moment to wait for a run. Don't be afraid to pass back across the defence and look for gaps.

Aim to wear the other team down, it works two fold, their players get tired and find it harder to compete, and humans get frustrated and make mistakes. It may seem like it's taking a while and you may not have as many chances, but you will have better quality chances, and by about 70 mins you will find the other team easier to break down. It's much more satisfying than constantly trying to steam forward and have your attacks broken up all the time, this also looks ugly. If you keep passing the ball around and teasing the opposition, you look good too!

My BIG tip. Keep the ball as much as possible and always look for space, PES gadgies can do more in space, including shots. Stop rushing, think time and space. Don't rule out counter attacks mind.
Play an attacking formation if you are looking for goals, your defence may weaken but if you start scoring, you can always just score more. It's risky, but it works for me.

Wow, I experienced a simular thing-only when I sit straight from the tv screen I play much better then from a skewed angle. I also play better the closer I sit to the tv screen. Believe me I know exactly what your talking about.

Haha,it's a normal thing if you just started to play master league with default players. A few years before I remember I was elated when I scored 2 goals in a match with default players:D. Don't worry, you won't struggle while playing after you got used to the game and the players.
