Classic Spain

Its funny though people are only asking for a "classic" spain team becuase of their recent success..... England, Italy, France, Germany, Argentina, Holland and Brazil all have stand out teams and players, i think the spain one is fairly limited, yes you could have 23 players but they would not be on par with hollands or brazil's, their best crop of players is now, that cant be said for the other nations...

Rubbish!

Spain has already won a big tournament in the past, in fact they have just as many big tournament wins as Holland and England if you exclude the 2008 and 2010 success. And no, its not just because of their recent success that people want a classic Spain. As I pointed out before, there's like 15 players already available in the game right now.

The squad wouldn't be on par with Holland or Brazil, but it would be very similar to all the rest. The starting line up at least would be very strong, the reserves meh but that applies to most of the classic teams in the game anyway.

I think theres some sort of licensing issue with them though.

Not only some sort of licensing issue, but an unbelievably huge licensing issue.

In order to get the player's likeness and name correct in the game, for classic players who are no longer playing, Konami would have to go to each individual player or his estate (if he is deceased) and ask for these rights. Then Konami would have to pay whatever the player demands for these rights.

It is happening again
Am I right in saying that Ian Wright and Steve McManaman are in the England team? I'd hardly say they deserve to be there.

No its not rubbish its exactly why this thread was started, people want the classic team because of the current teams recent success. If you think of classic teams you think of the ones in the game already, spain have been so-so over the years. I dont have a problem if they put spain in, that would be great, but i cant see it happening and it opens the door for other teams to be entered in who arent as good, id much prefer some classic teams...Imgaine Uniteds, Barca's, Madrids, Milans Juve's and bayerns teams....and to use your arguement, most of these teams classic players are in the game already so it wouldnt take long for konami to do, stick a fake name on the team and where away.

FYI there are lots of people that wanted classic Spain before 2008. Don't pretend this hype for classic Spain started just 24 months ago.

If Spain have been so so over the years, what have England been then?!

Like I said, there's 2/3rds of a squad already in the game. Add a few greats like Gento and the team is set.

^ I was going to say the exact same thing lol. What has England achieved since 1966? A few 1/4 finals appearances and some years they didn't even qualify and yet they've been in every Pes game I've played. By including Spain, Konami are not going to be opening any doors for any undeserved teams. I mean that makes no sense at all. Just because there are a handful of silly requests from fans (which I think already happens) doesn't mean that Konami suddenly has a dilemma and is pressured into including below par teams. Classic Spain and classic Hungary actually have real cases here. Classic Spain has a bunch of elite players and classic Hungary, if I'm not mistaken, were the inspiration for the dutch's total football and went unbeaten for 52 games or something like that. Also twice runner ups in the World Cup.

bah its easy to edit the faces to their likenesses. I did a fantastic Zizou and dare I say it looks like a preset

Excellent call on classic Hungary. Although the only downside for them is most of their players aren't as known as same era players from other countries. Would still love to see those sides added...

I agree with Rainey. They haven't had enough success to be considered "classic", but you could argue that England haven't either.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't there a European Classic and World Classic team in the old Pro Evo games (perhaps Iss Pro Evo 2)? Would be nice to bring back those again, I know they have most of the players as unlockables, but it's not the same.

I never play with classic teams, but I did however love playing as the European and World XI teams in PES 2

They were the best 23 European or Rest of the World players at the time of the release and it provided some great games

Konami should defo re-instate this feature ;)
