What if the ps3 is twice as powerful Penyon? The first generation of ps2 games look pretty shit compared to the latest games since there isn't that big difference between the first generation games on the x-box and the latest games. The ps2 was very hard to develop games for, so maybe this will be the case for the ps3. If you just look at the looks of the console I must say that the Revolution looks gr8, just a small black box and the disctray gives light.

This is a stupid thread.
Firstly this is a forum dedicated to a game which started off on the ps2 so most people are obviously gonna vote for sony's latest console.
Secondly why did'nt you put up Nintendo's Revolution as surely Nintendo is a well established company which has better recognition worldwide then microsoft.

of course people are more biased towards the ps3 becuase everyone on here most probally owns a ps2, ps1 dew to pes and it was only pes4 that made SOME people buy an xbox for online play. Xbox 360 will be far better than the ps3, all the videos of the ps3 are not in-game or pre-renderd, whereas the videos of the 360 are in game and in real-time such as ghost-recon3 and pgr3.......what have sony got to hide?

Hopefully the revolution and the x-box 360 will sell more then the first consoles of nintendo/microsoft cause if they won't there only will come a ps4 I'm afraid.

I hope they do as well, but if they don't, I don't think either company will pull out.

Microsoft have a crapload of money and will be completely determined to succeed in the games industry (they're never going to accept failure in any field) so they'll continue console development. And Nintendo still make a lot more money out of the games industry than either Sony or Microsoft do. The Gamecube might be selling less than the PS2 and the Xbox, but if you add the DS and the GBA to the list, they're vastly outselling Xboxes and on a similar level to the PS2.

They also make a lot more money because their consoles are far cheaper to develop. Sony and Microsoft lose over £100 on each console they sell (with the intention of making the money back up in software sales), whereas Nintendo hardly lose anything as their consoles are designed so they cost a lot less to develop, and to develop for.

Neither system will be much more powerful than the other. It will be like in the PC world. What is the reall difference between ATI and Nvidia? Nothing besides which brand you prefer. Believe it or not the Cell and X360 CPU are very similar. They both have around the same performance regardless of what $ony and M$ say. The GPU's are very similar also. The xenos GPU in the x360 uses unified shader arch, while the RSX GPU in the PS3 uses regular PC GPU shader arch. This means that graphical effects will be much easier on the PS3 as developers already know how to use it. The unified sader in the x360 will have developers confused at first just like the PS2 did. Developers now understand everything about the PS2 and it has become less hard to program. The thing that made it hard was the In-order processing (parallel) and the vector unints............well and the lack of RAM and GPU(no, the emotion-engine was not a GPU, it was a grpahics synthesiser(simulated GPU effects)). Both the x360 and PS3 use vector units and in-order processing. Now lest move to the GPU's. The x360 GPU will be held up by not having the ease of use of the nvidia RSX. The difference however would be that the x360 GPU can be 100% effective while the RSX can reach a maximun of 70-80%. besides all that we have the effect of AA. The x360 uses the eDRAM to erase the performance hit from using AA, but eDRAM is not new like they make it out to be. There is a console that uses it right now. Can anyone guess it?.....................The ATI GPU in the Gamecube has eDRAM. It was much less than 10MB like the x360 GPU will use, but we saw how well it worked before. On the other side, nvidia has always had faster AA, take the xbox for example. That geforce 2.5/3 in the xbox could run AA on most games and the xbox looked and ran great. Now, how well did AA run on the gamecube?

The reason why $ony has very little to show would be the same reason that M$ had jack shit to show 6 months ago. Don't people understand the PS3 will be out 6 months to almost a year after the x360?!?!? Now I wonder why $ony doesnt have much to show.

compard to the 360s "pre school" looks

the xbox has the release advantage but you can not say the ps3 is going to be crap, twice the power of the 360s chip.
plus ive just hear that the 360 going to be back wards compatiable....if you recompres the game or by the 360 vertsion....thats not back ward compatiable.

I think the moral of this thread should be 'lets agree to disagree', before this one gets nasty.

Personally, i'm a bit of a Playstation fanboy, i'll admit it. I love the range of games for the PS2 and the controller is perfect, so this means the PS3 will appeal most to me. If the rumours that itwill be the most powerful are true, then things look bright for the future on that console.

I didn't buy an XBOX because of my irrational hatred for Microsoft and the shite 'house brick' controller. And i didn't buy a Gamecube, because i believe that Nintendo make games for kids like Mario and Donkey Kong. I just can't take Nintendo seriously.

Hey, this is just my opinion and i expect criticism for it, but i respect other peoples reasons for why they love their XBOXs and Nintendos.

Once you get used to the controller it is much better for racing games than the PS2 dualshock 2 could ever be. I guess this comes from me being a race fan. The triggers (stolen from the dreamcast controller) give you more of a realistic feel. That must be why I like forza more than GT4. Now every other type of game.....................the xbox controller sucks and bring on the PS2.

Yeah I was just driving my Ford Escort with "trigger" acceleration the other day, the triggers aren't any more realistic, you're still holding a joypad in your hand to control a car projected onto a tv screen, I bet you use an outside view as well, "wow just like the real thing". You should try using both analogue sticks, also when you use right analogue stick there's no way of pressing accelarate and brake at the same time which is a bonus.

As for consoles I'm not buying any, they are all to reliant on graphics, I like good looking games like the next man, but its become an obsession, lead by pc heads that have been obsessed for years but drilled into the skulls of gamers who have forgotten their reasoning and their old skool ways.

Xbox 360. Games I like(every cool PS2 game gets on Xbox as well anyway), it doesnt look as dull as a PS3(looks like my mothers espresso machine) plus I dig on gameplay and not GFX.
But all 3 have showed no real footage yet, the Killzone 2 footage was made by a cinematics company as all other PS3 games shown were fake footage. Xbox360 footage was shown from an Apple computer and Nintendo only showed a design console(looks cool by the way).

Best games are on the Revolution I guess, with top exclusives like Zelda and Mario(And Pikmin! )

Tell me which is more realistic, pushing a button that puts you at full acceleration or being able to ease on the throttle? I bet you floor your escort all the time and say wow its sooo much like a game. I can assume things just as you do. I use the inside view at any rate. Your the kind of person that doesnt know how to have fun with games and just wants to put others down. Thanks for being such a great person and making me feel so welcomed here at the PESinsight forums.

BTW Alex Zanardi used trigger gas and brake pedals on the wheel he was holding when he raced after losing both legs.

The right analogue stick is just the same as a trigger button, probably slightly better as I mentioned you have analogue braking and can't hit the brake at the same time. As for assumptions it seems you're the kind of person that doesn't read posts properly, gets offended by short paragraphs on an internet forum and tries to make people feel guilty about it. Well I took care of a stray cat, give money to charity and am going on the Edinburgh march tomorrow, I'm a good person.

Plus Gran turismo was the first console game, I think, to introduce analogue accelaration, with the help of sony pioneering dual analogue sticks, so don't think xbox designers are great for coming up with something (or stealing it from sega) that does the same as one of the PRESSURISED buttons on a ps2 pad but doesn't have as wide a range of usefulness as an analogue stick.

You're very welcome on this fora but don't expect everyone to agree with your opinion, and have some backbone when people disagree.

1. You guys really need to argue about better stuff...this is boring and you're saying the same things over and over.

2. The ps3 is gonna be 35 times more powerful!!!!!!11 omg no way!!1!1oneone!!1111!!!! Idiots, developers are not going to put 35 more times into making the graphics, games will come out for 3 years in development rather than one! Winning Eleven will not look that much better, it is being made for 3 systems, and takes much time for each one! Also, pc is always more powerful than the others, b/c of advancement, upgrades, and overclocking most importantly. PS3 look like a big wierd ugly scanner. The controller looks like a two-sided u-shaped dildo. Xbox 360 is not worth it either, unless you like Halo. Also, there have been footages from the games, at E3. IMO, the Revolution games look far better than other ones. Also, if graphics are that important, get Winning Eleven for pc, easier to patch anyway.
