How to start this thread without being accused of being a fifa fanboy...?!? - Basically I'm not, haven't ever been and think Fifa 10 has some major issues (only tried it to prove a Fifa lover wrong :happy

However, this new evo is leaving me :crymore:

On the plus side, it looks amazing. Easily the best looking football game ever. Passing the ball around feels good and I love the feeling of shooting, as with most of the PES series'.

Unfortunatley, there are some big downsides, even on top player.

Firstly, the AI is poor. on a 4-4-2 formation, I've set my entire midfield, full backs and strikers to attack (on the card system), but I can be moving up the wing with my full back and my winger just stands there :realmad: It exactly the same when you have a winger and the full back won't overlap and strikers either make no run or run towards a defender. The AI is also poor from a computers side, with meaningless passing in midfield/defence, no urgency in attack (even when losing) and very little interest in pressing for the ball when your defenders have it (try just standing there for as long as you can...)

Secondly and the most importantly, when attcking the computers back 4, it will just back of and back off until you around 25 yards out and then 1 will press you. So this allow's you have many shots from this distance and is unrealistic. It can be the same when you are attacking down the wing and the full back will simply let you run. This even happens when it is just your one player breaking, so the computer can't be accused of covering the space etc.

Last gripe is the master league. I know it's supposed to be a more realistic experience, but as a football fan, I could probably tell you the majority of the strengths and weeknesses of Premiership players. So to have to scout EVERYONE to see their stats is frustrating to say the least. Also no development chart is, to me, a downside. I mean, at least give me the option to have this feature on or off (I believe it was possible in other versions). Also not knowing why transfers fail and if players have any interest you is a major gripe and, to me, ruins what I spent over 200 hours doing on PES 2009.

There are also other problems like the bad annimations, very very poor running motions, bad ref's, the worst commentary ever (sounds like they are sat in different rooms / moments in time) I also don't get it why Konami don't just copy other premiership kits to make them at least look similar? This game looks so good, that having plain kits is like having a ferrari and driving it around when it's covered in pigeon crap!!

The reason I've posted this is in the hope that I'm missing something and one of you guys/gals can tell me everythings going to get better or that I'm simply over reacting. I loved PES2009 for all it's sins, but konami just seems to have changed some things that didn't need changing.

Your midfielder probably has a balanced C card. This means he will keep is normal position and will not go forward like your full back that is probably attack minded. This botters me to because you can't change C cards, at least i haven't been able to do so.

The AI is inconsistent, at times i am having a really hard time scoring a goal against a decent club and sometimes i score goal after goal. Especially the further go get in the champions league the harder it feels to win.

Im playing PES on my PC only so i can choose between pes 2010 next gen or fifa ancient gen. So i really don't know which one i would choose, fifa has better animation, ai and game rules like advantage etc. But on the pitch PES is better. It's just a matter of what you prefer.

I am having hard time with tranfsers to i don't know where to start searching for new players.

But konami had a lot of work to do to make this game like it is today, FIFA on the other hand only had to adjust and most of it was already there. PES spend most time on graphics so i believe in PES2011 things like improved AI and transfer sheet will be there. If not PES2011 will be a flop, PES2010 is not a flop it's a big improvement but it's not there yet.

Not when you are one attacker and there are 4 defenders, in a line watching you run from your own half. Like I said, I really want to enjoy this game, it's just proving very hard. Part of me thinks that people are only enjoying it because of all the wonder goals scored.

Oh and I won't be going to Fifa....

Already had it since release day, not played it for a week prior to Evo coming out. Only played it to try it and see what my ex-evo loving mates were goin on about.

First off not to be an asshole but we dont have to convince you, if you dont like it return it and get something else, simples for me this game is a fantastic representation of football since PES 6 and FIFA 06.

Maybe I should have called the thread something else, but I just can't get the points I've made out of my head when playing it. Do you not notice some of the things I've mentioned? Bad AI, defenders backing off?

To answer your other thing, I joined last Nov to talk about Evo 09, but found most of my points had already been raised and questions answered. I've been an avid reader of this forum for a couple of years. I don't usually get involved in threads anywhere, but feel that I had to give some feedback and get some thoughts off other people.

I also don't get as much time to play as I used to, so look for peoples comments who are more "in to it" than me.

Ahem, but no seriously Tim(my), I agree with you ... and I dont think you are getting many arguments because ... well ... others do too. The game is majorly flawed. To me it feels like a game of foosball (no spinning!) where players are on rails etc.

How can people seriously play this game and enjoy the complete lack of realisam?

Hey TimmyWilson, where you from geezer (I might know you, does 'Beggars Reach' mean anything to you? Anyway, my personal gripe with the game this year is the difficulty modes, Regular is way too easy for me but Professional is way too hard. Others disagree and will say completely the opposite, which is fine. Certainly it seems every PES game will have something that riles a fan of the game, but it seems the later games carry more gripes than the earlier ones for a lot of gamers (hence veteran PES fans converting to FIFA as I type this). It's not all bad though, there are some great things about the game too if you can put up with the things that annoy you, but I understand if there's just too many negatives in there to cause you to not enjoy the game anymore. Personally I feel they've accidentally tweaked away the fundamental basics which made the series great in the first place; 'RESPONSIVE, FLOWING FOOTBALL', it seems both unresponsive and doesn't seem to flow nowhere near as well these days in my opinion!

its 100 times more realistic than fifa therefore its the most realisitic football game out thats enough justification to buy the game, if thats not good enough for you then go hibernate in an igloo until technology advances to a point that satisfies you.

After 30 hours its imo the best pes ive played. It truely is the game 2008 should of been. I love the gameplay and apart from a few niggles here and there (which pes 5 and 6 had aswell) its definetly the best all round pes game. The online, the ML is epic this year with 5 leagues, CL etc and you have community mode and BAL. Pes 6 only ever had ML and quality gameplay with friends and 2010 defiently has that and more.

I agree... Pes is great this year! Far better than FIFA, in my opinion... It took some time to get used to the gameplay, but it was worth it for me... ;-)

I've never liked FIFA, because it's missing something essential... Soul... FIFA feels kind of like... plastic... I don't "feel" it, like I do with Pes... :-/ And I think that either you do or you don't...

Pes has charm! It's its litlle quirks that makes it great, it's tradition to wait for an OF with the right kits and stuff... Plus I think the Pes community is great! Not that I know much about FIFA-communities (I'm not one of those who goes on a forum of a game I don't like to spew out crap about that game, just because I don't like it and can't accept the fact that others don't like the same things as me, as many FIFA players do on this forum... ), but here I feel that people respect eachother and loves a game with great playability, is challinging, fun to play with friends and online and has unrivaled tactical choices and editing abilities...

I'm gonna stop preaching now...

^^I wish so bad i could get an OF but i have a 360 and i'd have to by the transfer cable etc and its not worth it. Fifa is souless game though and offers nothing in terms of excitement offline.

I'm happy for you that you find it so enjoyable, honestly. But can you say that you've not noticed defences backing off you? Bad AI from your own players? Computer not attacking as it should? I've not played against another human, which I would imagine improves my gripes. The problem is that I will generally play against the computer and these problems I've found stop it being enjoyable.

I've played ever PES since 1998 on PS1 and this version mainly lacks the computer AI, but also falls short with other things too, that evo games of the past have provided.

Have a look a look as PESFAN's forums, there's a thread with over 700posts with peoples gripes and arguments with Evo 2010. I am not alone!! :no:

has anyone noticed in ML thats there no Total top scorer and total assist leader and no best player ratings its something thats in like every other pes and now its gone unless someone else has seen it?
