used to be a huge winning eleven / pro evo fan until 2007. the franchise is ruined. bought the game after reading a few good things about the game here. couldn't even finish the first game cause it is so terrible.

sincerely, i feel fooled by people on this website. i feel like leaving pesgaming cause i really cannot understand how can someone say this is a good game.

simply, disgraceful. another very poor effort by konami.

with all due respect, I understand where you're coming from but PES2011 is not bad, its actually good, you just need to learn how to play it. It doesn't play like your traditional PES game anymore, its a new animal.... think of it as a FIFA/PES clone. But for those ppl saying its the best PES ever, sorry they don't know what they're talking about! Maybe graphically its the best but not where it really matters.

dude how can you actually tell a review for a game with only one game played? how old are you with all respect? not just on playing games, in life you need a process nothing is magic my friend

I tried to like this game but, it's just to awful. The selection and reaction are slow plus defenders just run into each other , who the fuck gives the go ahead for this shit. The testers should be shot in the eyes. SIMPLY DISGUSTING

If you didn't even play a full game, you are in no position to judge it, really.

But it would be nice if you said something about what exactly you found so terrible, because if it's the first touch, the passing or other stuff that depends on your players and your control over them it's probably easily fixed by learning to play the game all over. PES2011 does require some adjusting compared to the 2009->2010 jump.

If it's AI related, then it's more difficult to do anything about it, but one of the first things I did when I got the game was to adjust all team styles by 3 points down in pressure and 4 points down in attacking style. Compactness is set to 14 on the "normal" teams, 12-13 on the good teams and 15+ on the lesser teams.

This completely change the game, as the AI is able to do stuff with the ball before pressured off the ball, and everyone get a little bit more time on the ball, including you and results in BAL are more on par with the rest of the league.

It is a bit annoying that Konami seem to ignore the fact that their default team instructions are completely ass every year, but to do every team in the game "only" takes a good hour. I also set central defenders to join attack on set pieces too, which results in much more dangerous corner situations that especially weaker teams with big badass defenders take advantage of.

The game is far from perfect, but I believe PES2011 is a huge step in the right direction and I enjoy it more than I have enjoyed any footy game since "Goal" and "Kick Off - Player Manager" on my Amiga.

The occational AI bug that the "wrong" player chase the ball, or AI player seems to have lost its scripting occationally is very much annoying, but it happens to CPU too, which leads me to believe that this is not intentional by Konami to make CPU score important late goals or similar.

I also think your approach to the game matters in any footy game, including FIFA. If you approach each match with the intent to score as many goals as friggin possible, it will severely damage the enjoyment of the game. I may win 10-0 over Brazil with this approach, but I may also end up drawing 0-0 or even lose by doing this approach. However, I will rarely see any "realistic" gameplay with this approach. Instead I approach the game with the intent to play beautiful football, wait for the great opportunities to play the defense cleaving pass and generally play possessive football with a semi high risk factor. I also regularly try difficult dribbles against two defenders, long shots and Crosses from byline or from the deep. This all give me a fairly good variation where I don't always win, but I make damn sure I am the most stylish looking team, regardless of the result.
Losing a game once in a while is a part of football, if I never lost, it would not be fun to win. The reason I mentioned FIFA in the beginning of this phrase is because I am able to enjoy FIFA with this approach as well, but the reason why I enjoy PES much more is because in FIFA you quite often score even when you're not really trying to. Tevez crushing Rio Ferdinand in the air etc. It's too damn simple, where PES is much less simple, and I don't always score when I try really hard.

I like the game but I am having issues with the first touch. What do you reccomend? I can't get a good flowing build up because of first touch and acceleration after that first touch issues. What do you do to make this better? ARe you saying there s a way to "learn" how to make the players get the ball better and thus giving them momentum to run when the receive the ball or by "learn" are you saying that we should adjust to this bad 1st touch? Just asking since you brought it up :D

When trapping the ball, use the R2 when you recieve the ball, this will make your player handle the ball more tightly(?) to his body, allowing for more control, it's the same button when you want more ball control when dribbling.

I really can't understand how anyone can call this a terrible game lol, especially before finishing even 1 match.

This reminds me of the way toddlers reacte to new food.

Spoon goes into mouth...

"Hey this isn't pudding!"

**Spit, spit**

"DISGUSTING!"

gave it another shot. still crap. players don't make runs. why ins't there a bottom to call the player to run as in fifa?
because that isn't really realistic is it?
the player should make the run according to the tactics you set up ,his abilities and the situation not by just pushing a button every time.

you've gotten too used to FIFA my friend so it will take a while to get out of you system.

hey PROEVOLUATION,

shut the fuck up bitch! you probably don't undestand anything about football. you probably support some shitty team who never won shit and never had a real idol. and you also had not seen a pussy in so many years cause you just stay put on the couch playing some shitty game.

you see.... anyone can curse. but can you be respectful about other's people opinion? i guess not.

so, before cursing out loud, look at yourself, learn some manners!

I understand why people have this initial reaction to the game as first few games I didn't get it. didnt feel like i was in control of the players that much, wasn't feeling the new camera angle how it tilts when you get near the goal and the fact i couldnt move the camera around like i used to in the replay after my first goal really annoyed me.....but....i've got about 15 games into a master league now and finding it much more enjoyable..tweak your tactics and the players will make runs and the new passing system is great, you're responsible for everything you do

however i really dont like the new way you set your team up pre-game..why the cursor that scrolls across the screen instead of just flicking across from one player to the next, there's a few other things i think are a step back also but overall am finding it to be a good game

Dude, I think you should STFU.

Just because a company releases a newer game, doesnt mean you have to put up with all its flaws and worship it. I personally have given Konami my money that I work hard for and dont respect them providing me something with a broken AI, even through years and many chances.

After playing PES2011 more and more, I must say, its ok but far from the best game ever.

Online = shit, will lag no matter what :(
Wrong players selected during crucial moments :(
Unfair CPU
Alot more things but for now, I'm finding my groove, still not as good as PES6,PES5. Konami has officially failed to find its groove on the next gen consoles. And for the record, FIFA is worst.

Tap the "Special Controls" button when you receive passes. "Special Controls" is the same button that you do close control dribble and controlled shots with. In combination with the D-pad or Left Stick you can also receive the pass and turn into a desired direction in one single action. If you start to sprint just after the above mentioned course of events, you will keep a fluid movement and you will be much harder to interrupt when building up play.

I advice you to play an exhibition match on low difficulty and practice keeping possession in your own half by doing this. Pass -> receive/turn -> pass over and over until it's an "automatic" action.

Unfair CPU

This type of statements always makes me chuckle :)

I totally agree with the selection of players. Espescially in a counter, you want your DMF or other defensive player to put pressure on the ball. In most occasions, the AI always changes to players who are still on the attack and have to chase back, giving the man in possession total freedom to do everything he wants(control the bal, have time to think where he can play the ball etc.)

But my online experiences are quite good. Only in the first week there were a lot of games in which i lost connection to my opponents, but since then I play wired instead of wireless, and in my 100 games after that, i only lost connection 2 or 3 times. In these games I got the statistical 3-0 win, which means that I wasn't the person who lost connection but the other one.

The most frustrating and both beautiful thing is MLO. I hate it when I have to play against a player with a far superior team to mine. For example, today I met a team who had C. Ronaldo, Khedira, Marcelo, Özil and Xabi Alonso. And the rest of the team was not top-class, but they were decent players( like 70-75ish). My own team has 2 players above 75(Suarez and Burdisso), so I thought i would be chanceless. But somehow I managed to stop all attacks(kicking every ball away with square), hoping my attackers would pick up a ball and score in a counter, which they did! A satisfying 1-0 victory:)
