Defending corner kicks

I concede alot of goals on corner kicks. I have a hard time getting to the ball before the strikers, even if I'm better positioned and press (X) on time. They simply out-jump me.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

lol...you should've put all this in one thread man!!

never mind...

It helps if your defenders are bigger than their strikers....and i find when defending, you should use the square button, rather than the X button...

Lol, I didn't want to mix up the topics!

Anyway, thanks for your help, I'll put all your tips into practice and let you know how it went...

Also, regarding the timing of headers, when is the best moment to tap the button? As the ball reaches the player, tap it repeatedly while the ball travels towards you, or...?

I'm not sure about the timing really...

whenever I head the ball, it works when I continuously press the button, or when i only press it once,

regardless, it'll come to ya, just give it time enit

Pres L1 before corner kick is taken, see the grid and position your player in front of the cpu's. Then press square at the right time.

Try to tweak your A/D level to more defensive before the screen changes for the corner to be taken. The more defensive the level, the more of your players will come back to help defend.

You can use R2 to jockey for position, though if your defenders are shorter, weaker, or significantly slower to react (ie, have lower body balance and/or response and/or jump/header) than the attackers, there's nothing that will work too consistently.

Like Shaun says, try to grab a big player and move him in front of or up against whoever is conspicuously unmarked or moving freely in the box (often lurking around the far post side at the top of the 6-yard box). The CPU virtually always has that mysteriously AI-ignored player in mind.

moving your defender around manually helps, they almost always hit it front post or close to the keeper so patrol that area, use square as it just clears, you press x and it will try to header pass it to someone on your team prolly in the area.

these will help but you will still concede plenty of corner kicks, instead of improving the cpu AI konami have opted to make the AI seem better with annoying things like this, in 2008 they did it by making them score ever freekick. on one hand its better coz i am no longer constantly the best defense in the ML conceding like 15 goals a season i am usually second conceding 30 or so which makes it realistic but it feels so cheap and cheat like.

FIFA has the same problem, only FIFA have implemented any cheap ways to score against you so you end up conceding maybe 9 a season through your own fault usually!
