The dummy am I.

Sometimes they push me off the ball with great strength, HOW?

And I play games online in wich the opposite defenders look faster then my attackers and more aggressive, HOW?

I can,t get Adriano or Zlatan off the ball, WHY?

I'm not a bad player appr. 570 points but these things are very frustrating so please someone HELP!!!!!!

Ps: What do you guys experience as a good way to defend?

I never hold A on my 360 (soft tackle) because its easier for the attacker to get around my defender so i always hold X (calls second defender) because he will attack the attacker and then i control my defender and always read what they are gonna do and i just cut them off because now they will have twice the trouble but you gotta be careful because you can leave gaps open in the defence or even midfield.

When your opponant are attacking down the wing and trying to break in, just try sprinting into them to get the ball. Don't use your CB's though, Use your SB's.

don't hold the dash button the entire time. Let your players do their own job. This will allow them to intercept errant balls easier. Even on offense, only use the dash when you need to, because it drops your control. If the defender is going one way, cut back.

If you need to just hold dash, then try cutting down the wings more. Take an offensive firepower like Man U or Liverpool and send Ronaldo/Nani or Pennant/Riise down the wings then feed the ball in from the corners for a header. If you're really open, cut in by the beginning of the box and try to edge close to the box then dump the ball back to a forward. If you cut down the wing all the way down and the defener is still on you, hook back around toward the center of the back of the box and crack it in.

That's your basic offense. If you can get off the dash button, try through passing towards the center to open guys. Don't try to rage it into the box with your mid-fielders because most of the time they aren't going to get there. Defenses are stronger in the center.

You should pay a lot of attention to the radar at the bottom of the screen. Look for who is open. Pass to them.

That's all I can think of for now.

It's getting better already but still sometimes when I push:square: it looks like the defender is running past him or is gonna run behind him.
So I'm still no Terry.

Im not a good defender, but i make up for it by having an attacking metality. I can normally outscore the other team by a few goals. I very rarely keep a clean sheet.

im like dobisskill im not the best defender........bare in mind im using newcastle so i might aswell play with 4 empty coke bottles for centrebacks but im pretty good at attacking so i can usually outscore the opposition

Yeah I like that one, for me it's possibly the same
But when you reach an higher level online the opponents become very good.
So you need to defend very well because they don't need a lot of changes.

pushing together dashing button n special moves button(r1+r2,ps3) helps your defender to move his body with full strength defending an attacker with the ball or without.
when the ball is in front of both, your defender n opponent, these two buttons free yours players movement, and you can push with your shoulders the oppenent.
soft tackle button n dshing(r1+x,ps3)just marking the oppenent with no luck sometimes because when it pressed, your player follows a unique direction to the the ball n oppenent..
(am sorry for my english! reply to me and i'll explain..)

You cant get the ball off Adriano and Zlatan because they got 97 for body balance. The best thing then you are defending is hold R1+X it puts pressure on the player

Yes it's really criminal sometimes it just won't work.
The only way to stop them is to tackle with a big chance of getting yellow or red by some fuckin' cunt ref.

It's goin' better already but you need enough defenders to stop them so I changed the tactics a little.

I'm having the same trouble a lot of you guys are. I don't think I'm too bad at defending but the oppositision's attackers break into the box quite easily. I find often when I attempt slide tackles that I knock the ball away from them but they get it straight back.

This version, PES 2008, has greatly improved the gameplay and the Computer AI - you will notice the opponent getting tougher. It is a blessing for us. This throws more challenges to us. It will not be one sided match.

Besides the usual "X" and "Square" to tackle and pressure, you have to practise the "circle - sliding tackle", I tend to be more physical in my match, it might results in many yellow cards but this really helps to slow the game and break up the opponent gameplay.

Any other good techniques by other players??

I've been working a lot on the timing of sliding tackles and I too find myself getting a few too many yellow cards. If you stand directly in front of them and slide when they're about 2-5 in game metres in front of you you should snatch the ball no problem.

the thing i find when defending is sometimes you have to pressure players and sometime you have to let them play.
The lower quality players you can usually just use R1+X to pressure them off the ball. Easy Peasy.
The higher quality players this isn't as easy, i tend to back off just enough so they can't get past me, but close enough that if they pass/shoot/cross i can slide in and stop the ball.
I've been doing the second one for years so i'm used to it, when is first did it i had no joy, but now i'm Unstoppable :p

I think the lessons are starting to pay out.
Three times no goals conceded.3-0,2-0,2-0.
Also changed tactics:
--------------------------------gk-------------------------------

---------rb-------------cb------------cb-----------lb-----------

-----------------------dm-------------dm-----------------------

--------------------------------am------------------------------
-----------ss-------------------------------------ss------------

--------------------------------cf-------------------------------

With attacking arrows backwards on my backs.
And attacking arrows diagonally forwards on my second strikers.
