Didn't notice any of that, but players did seem to be knocked off the ball a bit easily.

Yup, will take a screenshot next time I'm on, but from what I remember:

60 and below = red
70 - 80 = yellow
80 - 90 = green
90+ = blue

Because Konami.

Because Demo

I've played the demo a couple of times madrid vs barca on the ps3 version and felt the demo default speed seemed a little to fast the same as 2016 anyone else experienced this or maybe I was just tired stadium looked great though I not bothering trying the Xbox 1 due to lack of option files

Lörd TH Very bad quality, but it's noticeable. Look at how Danny behaves after being hit by the defender. I couldn't control him, he just wobbles forward in some sort of locked animation.

I think that`s the point of the animation - he is losing control, thats fine with me.

I think it is worse when you are standing still and get tackled from the front, than your player will make a few steps back to give the ball free, that is unrealistic and a stupid animation.

That animation is the same as this one, only the direction changes. And while I agree you lose balance, you never lose control completely. Speaking from experience.

Would You Adam 'n' Eve It...?

I've played the demo a few more times, it's pretty amazing, 'night and day' compared to last year's version.

The CPU scored a really good goal from outside of the box- and it WASN'T a low shot to one of the bottom corners of the net.

They've finally got the crowd effects to sound good, extremely immersive. (I'm playing on 'Professional'/fully manual.)

I never thought I'd say this but...

... I'm really looking forward to PES 2017!

Would you Adam Bhatti 'n' Eve it?!

PES 2016- Rest in Pieces!!!

Ali

It is happening again
After playing a few more games of the demo, I think the game lacks soul, and is quite frankly... a bit boring. Mainly due to the lack of challenge from the CPU team.

For me the jury is still out. None of the team's I've controlled have played the set up that I go for and you can't edit the set-ups in the demo enough to tailor them. Consequently wing play is very frustrating. Also, I'm only playing on Superstar.

The improvements
Defending appears to be much better, as there are no easy dribbling routes to a shot from the edge of the box. It may be that the formation and play style I had in PES 2016 had runners drag defenders away nicely to open up gaps though in last year's game.

There are definitely more AI fouls and I usually get a couple of freekicks around the box each game.

Appropriate cards are dished out for those fouls as well. Also the odd yellow is given out for fouls caused by excessive pressuring, so a few more sendings off will be coming our way this year.

Goalkeepers are now good. Last year, I had to stop the opposition from shooting in the box to keep a clean sheet, and that was with my ML keeper Oblak on 99 keeper stats.

I haven't seen the AI try the silly short pass at freekicks that you can easily intercept yet. Hopefully, they've sorted that, though that's only an issue when playing the AI and it is easy enough just to choose not to exploit it.

Physicality between the players has been stepped up and is a good route to take in general. This also features in the annoying bits section below though, as they haven't got it completely right.

The addition of many more subtle animations is nice, not that this affects the all important gameplay.

The annoying bits :-
Good dribblers seem to jink a bit too lightning quick. They are much faster at jinking with the ball than they are at actually running without it. This also applies to getting your winger to flick the ball past a FB and chase after it. The number of times I completely wrong footed a FB and got a head start on them, with the aim of crossing the ball with my next touch, my player would slow to a walk and get overtaken. It's as if they are literally pulling you back, but you never get a freekick for it. I can understand nerfing wing play if it is considered overpowered, but this isn't the way to accomplish that. It just looks silly.

Passing feels really slow and deliberate with most teams. So I tried Barcelona and adopted the tiki taka style. I found I could pass the ball around with them nicely, but no real openings were made down the middle. However, if I tried the same thing out wide, I could easily work a crossing opportunity. Now that doesn't sound like Barcelona to me - LOL. I guess that could just have been the defences I was playing against.

The advantage rule seemed to work perfectly in PES 2016 and on those rare occasions that a foul was given a yellow card, the referee would hand one out after an elongated advantage being played. But in the demo, most of the time that the ref wants to give a yellow, he immediately stops play which is very annoying when you find that one of your other players is suddenly through on goal. This didn't happen in 2016. I've also had too many instances in the demo of the referee incorrectly working out when to play advantage. One example was out on the wing. My player had jinked past the FB and the FB hacked me down with a sliding tackle. One of my strikers had jogged over to try and continue the move, but the CB got their first and blocked my player's run and the ball ran out of play for a throw-in. The referee then showed their FB a yellow card and gave them the throw-in. How does that work? :realmad:

Hopefully the annoying bits will be sorted for the main release or in an update.

I noticed that something really frustrating from earlier PES editions, is still present;
When my midfielder (or anyone else) gives a trough ball to my winger, that winger is running at full speed (and to be clear, I’m not letting go of my sprint button), then, when the ball’s almost within reach, he seems to hold back sprinting for a while… like my sprint button isn’t working well…
WTF is going on???

Yeah, after a while you get to learn the scenarios this is about to happen. This is where it's worth knowing the "super cancel" buttons. Since you already have R1 pressed, you only need to also hold down R2 and gain complete control over your player. See the following thread for some useful times to use it :-

Nou Camp

One of my favourite things about PES over the years has been how they have replicated the look and feel of stadiums when you're playing, including the Nou Camp in the 2013 (I think) version. Having just played the demo, the Nou Camp just feels like a generic big stadium. Anyone else get the same feeling?

"It's a Funny Old Game, Saint..."

I've been reading on the other two main PES fora and it seems like once again, people either love it, or loathe it...

I hope that Konami don't change anything about the game (apart from ironing out any bugs), it finally feels more like a simulation to me, instead of an arcade-style game. I use manual settings (even shooting), and it feels challenging enough for me on 'Professional'.

I pass the ball around with purpose, I'm a patient player, perhaps this all comes down to playing style. I've also kept away from football games for a while, so it feels 'fresh' to me.

I will delete the demo in a day or two and look forward to the full game. I will get some 'earache' if I decide to trade the game this year, so it had better be good!

For better or worse...

Been playing a couple games today, for some reason at least one of the centre backs is going forward, to the point of playing upfront and staying there and not returning to his original position. Anyone else finding this?

Also they need to make the tactics thing in the corner a bit more visible and make it easier to figure out wtf it's actually doing..

PESMaster already have the PEs2017 Demo stats available. This is what I make of them (not specific to the players, more as a whole):

- OVRs increase and as usual favour attacking, technical players. Not to be followed

- Body Control is Balance. Players like Alexis, Messi, Iniesta, etc should have high values in this stat. Good surprise is Kanté, who's one of the 6 players so far with 90 or more in BC

- Physical Contact is exactly that, strength versus other players. Mertesacker, Boateng, Pogba, etc should have high values in this stats. Strangely one of the strongest players is Mascherano, with 90. GKs also have high values.

- Stamina is still a separate stat (thank God...), and it seems to have been revised. Most players have pretty well adjusted Stamina.

- There are still some major flaws with the stats distribution. Player with better Lofted Pass than Messi include Neuer, Pique, Carrasco, Gabi, Scheneiderlin and Nacho Monreal. And there's still no distinction between Long Passing and Crossing.

Overall, there are some improvements. Let's wait for the lower profile players, I'm expecting the usual illogical stuff.

Still not enough fouls and cards. Its still better than none thou

For me, the fouls and cards are perfect in the demo. One of the few things that have improved.

The more I've played it the less I like how much Konami have nerfed dribble speed. If they think through balls are too good, then make the defenders better at covering them. Don't turn fast dribbling players into tortoises. The second technique is the rubbish FIFA way.
