Coincidentally I am happily playing Civ III as we speak, I'm not gonna mince my words. The demo was shit. People saying this is "nowhere near the actual game" and wait wait wait are deluding themselves. This game has to be pressed, delivered and reach the stores and everything else in just over a month. How much actual development time do they actually have left? 3 weeks? 4 weeks? In that time pray tell how they are going to fix the GKs, the defending, the dribbling, the shooting, player movement, unrealistic passes, oh so many deflected goals, in anyway more than the annual quick fix botch job? This game is a WORSE version of PES6. It may have a great new AI, but there are still major, major flaws in this game and Konami are pumping it up as the best thing since Sam Allardyces' tash.
This was supposed to be a great team game, passing and movement etc. All it really is, is a moronic dribblefest that should have been knocked out of the series years ago. You don't have to earn goals really, just put a few feints in and job done.
Konami are full of the brown stuff, and I have lost my patience with them. I could have farted a better game than this. Bollocks to PES and Konami.

Not that long ago Seabass was interviewed saying he doesn't want to implement this type of off the ball movement that is created by the user.He said he wants to implement more intelligent A.I that will do this automatically.Wonder what changed his mind?
How do you control the off the ball player?
I've only played a few games and all i could do was get players to run directly up the pitch when i clicked one of the analogue buttons.

You have to change it to manual in the game settings. It's hard to do though, controlling 2 players at once.

Jesus you seem to get really hung up on what is only a demo!!!! Chill out man. The demo for 2011 was probably the worst experience ever. However the game was tweaked and polished before release. The nest demo will most likely be almost the finished article, no doubt with a few secrets still kept back.

The game play is way better than 2011. The dynamics are there, no doubt they just need polished. The movement of the players is much more realistic. You can play the game the way you want to, slow fast. This is starting to look like the real thing this is definitely getting close to being the best PES. All the lads who refer back to PES5/6 have forgotten how that plays. There is no comparison.

I mean there are some massive flaws on the demo, however I have the common sense to know that it aint gonna be like that. AC Milan seem to run at twice the speed of any other team, Abate looks like he is skating, he runs that fast, as does Ronaldhino. However its clearly an area they will correct!!!!

To be debating this game so intently at this stage is, in truth, pointless.

I must say I did like how when I was Man U vs Porto and losing 3-0 (top player) at home in the first half, the whistling would NOT stop...

Anyone else find it hard to overpower your passes? I've got passing assistance turned completely off and to make a pass over 20 yards I've got to use almost full power bar.

Crossing the ball to the other side of the pitch requires max power, otherwise it will only reach the center of the pitch...I've yet to kick out into touch while crossing to the other side...

That sounds good!! So I'm guessing 8/10 perhaps?

:eek:bamahmm:

PES11 was the 1st decisive step towards project FIFA II, PES12 is based on PES11, it was quite obvious to be honest: Konami wants to offer FIFA II, which basically is FIFA with a few irrelevant gimmicks to make it seem more hardcore.

I only give it 6/10 because of the shocking keepers ,the passing is weird , i try pass across the pitch using full power for it to just go to the closest player to the passer :erm: all the rest of the demo id give 8/10 , it's awsome. But the gk's and passing is a big let down for me, i know it's early build so im sure they will be fixed... Ive uninstalled the demo, dont see any point in playing what clearly is a 60%-70% finished representation of the final game, however i cant wait for the next demo :w00t

Feel kind of dissapointed with this demo, I know its the early mode but with all the hype I've heard, it really is a downer. I'd rather they released one epic or good demo than two, one being average which gets my spirits down, hope the demo can revive them again.

Pros about the demo

AI is great
Sprinting is much better
Close ball control is better, no more sloppy bad first touches.
Passing is smoother.

Cons
Goalkeepers are retards, pure and simple, much worse than the keepers in Pro 2011
Shooting isn't the greatest, still too floaty
Dribbling is meh, can't really get around other players (hopefully training mode in the full game will help me)
Defending is ridiculously difficult, I know defending is an art and shouldnt be just holding down x like the last game but come on. Messi fair enough if it takes 3 players to stop him but not Robinho, Ibra and Neymar. Defending should be like in the old PES games.
Strikers not making runs, full backs and wingers do it but I still don't get any runs from the strikers, its annoying.

6/10 from me, really do hope the next demo is much better. Positive thing is that people who have played the other codes said that this is the worst version of the codes they have played and believe it is a hybrid. Wether they are telling the truth or just kissing Konami's ass I don't know, but I hope it's the first one.

Fingers crossed for the 2nd demo

I totally agree on the way the AI dribbles. It's retarded. The keepers are black and white. Sometimes they're much better then in pes 11, but at other times, they are retarded. :)

As for the strikers not making runs. ACTIVATE THE OFF THE BALL CONTROL and the striker will make a desired run. It's not hard on assisted, but super hard on manual.
I just scored a goal with Santos' striker by doing so from Ganso's long through ball. The pass went in between 2 defenders because of the strikers' well timed activated run. It does work. :)

I have done the off the ball control, it does work but it is hard to use while being closed down by 2-3 players on top player. I think strikers should be doing runs automatically in the first place.

I cannot wait to get my hands on the full version. Pes is always better than the fifas.

Yes yes...if you say so...anyways i wont touch the garbage of EA it was a memorable day we got PES with Colina on cover.

Finally with PES 2011 the game is making progress again.

They do at times, and yes they should do it more, but on Auto trigger run, it's not that hard to activate, however I agree with what you said. :)

The more i play it the more frustrated i get.

It feels like the AI cheats you when they score because Robinho goes on a fucking Maradona run and it seems like the AI decides they want to make a tackle, and sometimes it doesnt just because it can be bothered. The amount of goals i have let in in the 90th minute is ridiculous, and these are all equalisers and match winning goals. The dribbling needs to be toned down a bit and defending made easier, possibly add another button for "sticking a leg out"

Another thing is crossing/corners - does anyone else find your player sprinting like a dick PAST where the ball will be going? Its happened to me many a time, the best bet for me has been using the teammate control thing (on corners), keeping the player stationary, and then running last moment to header it. The only time i scored with my player running like a dick is when i managed to stop him with the ball just behind him and volleying it beautifully (intended a header before he "mistimed" his run)

Oh and sometimes an opponent passes and you want to intercept and your guy just runs past the ball, missing it and allowing the pass to occur, i mean WTF

Also, although refs are good, i find them a tad harsh OUTSIDE THE PENALTY AREA, but INSIDE THE PENALTY AREA, it has to be the most blatent foul for a penalty to be given, i have played a lot over the last few days and only one penalty incident has occurred.

RANT OVER

If they sort these out + keepers and shooting this game would be near perfection

I think it's obvious that Konami should offer manual off the ball movement and semi-automatic off the ball movement simultaneously, it could be easily done and it would be a massive improvement.

If the off the ball movement is set on manual, the game should offer at least 4 spaces so that we can tweak the individual settings of at least 4 individuals, so that the mentioned 4 can have semi-automatic off the ball movement, whereas the other 6 players would have manual off the ball movement. That would offer a much better balance, intricate but unresponsive for midfield play, and simplistic but responsive when you just want the straight forward run.

Having just manual off the ball movement or semi-automatic off the ball movement, is too black and white, one offers control over direction but is really inconvenient for when you just want a simple off the ball run; the other just reduces the play into pressing R3 and letting the computer do the rest, which although much more suited for the simple center forward run, does not offer many intricate options in the midfield.

Konami could fix the mentioned black and white inconvenience by simply offering both manual and semi-automatic off the ball movement in one package.

In my first impression post I said it was well better than 2011, and that I was loveing it. On playing it more, there are SO MANY issues for me.

1, Keepers are awful, they always have been but in this version, they are truely something else.

2, My defenders just run to the side and leave huge gaps.

3, I have played it on regular, pro, and top player, and the computer just skill my head off on all settings - they run, do the slightest little body fient and they are miles ahead of a hapless defender.

4, As part of the above, once a player has been turned, he takes an age to get back on track.

5, The following players are impossible to keep up with, foul, get past or stop: Lavezi, Rooney, Berbatov, Hulk, Varela, Cavani.

I am now just frustrated most of the time with it, I think this will be my last night of it before going back to 2011, maybe starting one last master league, then trying the 2nd demo mid september.
