ok understood.

Yes it really might be that I don't recall myself neither how hard PES6 was as last few PES on PC have been quite easy..

I haven't tried PES2012 demo yet, and most likely wont even try, will just buy the game straight :).
Still cool to hear that the game creates positive vibes and feelings of progression / improving your skills (in the middle of normal whining posts) it shows that PES2012 has potential! :)

@Techboy,

I find defending very hard, my tackling is very on or off, and lately most of the time when I go for a tackle I either miss all together and get burned or commit a foul. With that said, I concede the bulk of my goals on the break with an on rushing Nani, Rooney, Robihno etc coming at me with a series of moves that leave me in the dust. I need to practice my D!

How cool would it be if in future PES comes with "become a legend" mode on-line. Can you imagine a team of 11 players all on-line and you try to become a legend?:w00t

Everyone will have their own way of defending, but in my last twenty games I have found my defensive play working really quite well. Firstly you can never leave yourself open to same number attacks (ie one on one, two on two, three on three) it's a recipe for disaster and the CPU will dice through you more times than not. Secondly, and this works for me but many may argue different, I hardly ever actually tackle. I try and get one of my central midfielders whether it be a normal CM or DMF to trail back behind the ball as an extra layer of protection, and jockey without the need for the jockey button. Mostly it's a slight retreat in keeping with where I believe the player will go.

Constantly bear in mind where you want to usher the ball carrier. For example where Nani has possession and is attacking me, I always try and position myself slightly inside that player and showing him slightly more to the outside. Always look to stifle the player that comes inside, and always encourage the ball carrier on the outside shoulder.

I almost always switch so that I'm the one in control of the player and hardly ever pressure with any button. In this game you just have enough time when jockeying the CPU to cast one eye on the bigger picture, so always look for potential danger areas and be receptive to the one two. If the ball shifts, then switch to the next man and once again slightly show the outside.

You'll never keep clean sheets all the time, but that's real life. Concentration is key and you must always try and not panic, lunging in on this game is a death wish, defence is about patience here.

At least for me anyway :)

First impression...strange, different. Second impression...i love it!!!

...third impression - I fucking hate it.
...fourth impression - it's ok.
...fifth impression - it's dung.
...sixth impression - it's awesome.

and so on.

I never had so mixed feelings about a PES-game I think. I really pisses me off sometimes, as in it really makes me feel cheated. But then I'm a sore loser on the other hand.

^We're on the same boat man. ;)
I played it yesterday and today in the morning and I was truly frustrated because the game was cheating beyond belief, but about 2 hours ago, I played it on the PC, again and it was beautiful and I loved it.

BTW, the PS3 version is inferior to the pc. I am a console man myself, but I had to say it. The pc version is much smoother and doesn't lag as much as the ps3, not to mention it responds better and loads faster.

Maybe it's my ps3 that's beginning to go downhill. :(

HI,

Demo gameplay first impressions?

Demo gameplay first impressions with the gameplay patch (cannot recall the name though), fantastic !

Bottom line, best pes I have ever played since pes5, pes6.
Can't wait for the full release. I hope that Konami guys use up all the capabilites modern GPU/CPU's have to offer! Hope they add snow/winter, at least rain/fog. Silly flykicks outwith the penalty! Ultimatelly, great football simulator ( finally) with a great deal of realism. Great!

Runs great on dual core athlon/ ati video with 64bit memory bus! Great optimization !

No weather additions instead we now have this annoying addition at free kicks where you have to wait for a guy to step up. I also still see scissor kicks from 22 m out. That fucking pisses me off.

Played as Milan against Man Urs. Gamespeed -2 but it was still way too fast.

It's a PITY, we'll see no weather conditions once again. They should have dwelled on that, in stead of making players run at exceptional pace, making the game uncontrollable . Konami guys got to carried away with their stuggle to make a GAME identical to a real life football match, that they forgot It was the arcade element in pes5-6 that worked.

I agree with you. I am enjoying the PC demo much more than the PS3 demo.

Who is enjoying the new defensive system? At first I thought it was was broken but once u figure it out it's Great!! No more mindless rushing and sprinting with x for 90min. U actually need to know how to play D and how to position yourself and also time your tackle right. It's much more "sim" if you want to put I that way. Works great! Wonder how it's gonna work vs the online messi/ronaldo sprint abusers...

how difficult is challenge training? Thrilled to bits that it's in the demo though, and played it for a loong time last night. I think it would be easier if you were using a better team - the players are rubbish!

Mixed feelings (as with everything else).

I think the defenders sometimes are a bit too "sluggish" compared to the (general) lightning-fast movements of the strikers, i.e. the game is too shifted to the attackers' advantage.

On the other hand it's nice that the AI now (literally) can give you a run for your money, too bad it sometimes ends up with a full-fledged rape.

Yes, the defending takes major skill and when you take the ball from an attacker with a well timed move, you feel satisfaction like you actually achieved something unlike in past pes games.

However, it needs finishing. The defenders are a bit too unresponsive compared to the super quick AI attackers. So in my view, they need to tone down the close control and make more individuality in it, and slightly up the response on the tackling and the general defender controls, NOT SPEED.

But yeah, this is the first time that you truly need to know what you're doing defensively.

I cannot describe in mere words how much I hate shooting in this game. Not having played Pro Evo since the 2010 version I just can't get used to the floaty, weightless and ridiculously aimless nature of the ball. I've lost count of the amount of times I've cut through the midfield, played one-twos or slotted a perfect through ball to a striker only to be left one and one with the keeper but with the slightest touch of the shoot button the ball is immediately launched into the stratosphere. Same goes for trying to slot it into either corner of the net, most of the time it ends up ten yards wide of the goal post or in some circumstances, next to the corner flag! Shooting really has become hit and hope. What the hell happened?

Unless this is rectified it looks like I'll be spending another year minus a football game :(
