I will keep playing, it is just that I really found it to be near perfect for me befor the patch and BAM they change it and I don`t think that this is the game they wanted to make but the game they made to stop the negativity towards PES14 by making everything easier and like football on speed - it feels like ice hockey to me right now.

My thoughts exactly, the players move like they are skating just like in Ice Hockey. Its not realistic at all. I too liked it before the patch as it was almost like watching a real match. But now after the patch they have messed up with the movement and the shooting is very powerful as almost all the shots on target end up in a goal. The goalkeeper is unable to save almost anything from those long / short range shots. There is no proper physics in player momentum now. I wish I could revert back to the way it was before this patch.

Individual players also feel more 'alive' and responsive to in game situations. DMF players actually chase down the opposition player with the ball and win tackles. The over the top through ball is much less effective and you can ping the ball around with much more precision and ease. Through balls have been drastically improved. Good job Komani, shame that this build wasn't what shipped at the original release... FIFA wouldn't have stood a chance against this game!

Agree with this the new version is excellent. Credit to Konami who could have just written off 14 and moved onto Next Gen. I guess they are using 14 now to refine the game in readiness for that.

I do agree with some that shooting is a little overpowered now.

Honestly as much shit as we give Konami and some of it is well deserved. They obviously really tried again and again with this game and they've finally come out with a gem.

I can't play fifa it feels dumb and lifeless. Even though i was kind of enjoying PES 2014 before now I'm completely in love with it. I played 8 master league games yesterday and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. Last minute goals, goal line scrambles etc. And when i finally do get some nice buildup play and make something happen it feels SO WORTH IT. Really I'm going to be playing this non stop until PES 2015 and I couldn't be happier.

The new patch...

While it has improved some things, it also has worsened some.

The throughball is the outstanding improvement. It's very close to being perfect. You have to get the power right and direction pretty much spot on yourself. Making it more manual, especially the power bar, has made it properly skillful for such a lethal pass if gotten right. It was too easy before, even if harder than 2013. It could still be spammed like those throughballs from kick off which could still be easily done. Also, it was to easy before to send a player on the run and throughball him. Now you have to get the right power and direction. People can't spam it now and it takes skill to get right. I've over hit and under hit alot of throughballs that were easy enough to get right before. Also, making it more manual has now allowed you to get far more precise throughballs, if you can get the direction and power right in the first place. Definitely delighted with it now.

The AI has vastly improved. Defenders are more aggressive in going after the ball and getting it. They cover player runs and space better too. The game is actually a challenge now on super star. They seem to be able to make more intelligent use of the ball as well.

The speed has been brought down too which is good, but is alittle too slow overall. The last patch or two made it a little too fast for me. But, players feel laboured when sprinting with the ball now. You can't get ahead of defender with a fast attacker and stay there for any length of time. This aspect was perfect for me before. It felt balanced. You could get ahead with a bit of skill, and at least could stay ahead for a reasonable amount of time(relative of how ahead of the defender you are) before the defender caught you. You got rewarded for beating a defender or having a player is space you pass to. Now, the defender is right on top of you straight away. Speed feels useless for fast players. Its far worse than the rubber banding affect people were talking about when the game first came out. Unbalanced as hell.

The game as a result now, is more about build up play and creating your space more, which is great. But the new throughball and the better AI defending was enough to make this happen. Making players with the ball have no speed compared to the defender wasn't necessary. Now they've made speed not much of a factor. Beating players one on one with skill and running into space doesn't really work. You'll be caught straight away. The only problems with the fast dribbling before was how quickly players could change direction on the ball, and how easily you could leave defenders for dead with how fast you could accelerate past them if the defender was moving slow(the defenders reactions were bad in this scenario aswell. They just wouldn't respond easily). They could easily just have toned down the acceleration and made the defenders react better to a player running fast by them, instead of also making the attackers run so slow at top speed that they get caught instantly. There is no reward in beating players now, so why do it. They've added more of one thing and almost wiped out another. More build up play-great, beating players and using speed, more or less gone-rubbish. It's a realistic part to the game and its adds variety, and personally I love doing it as well as more clever build up play.

The new short passing feels too slow and laboured now. For the amount power you put in the power bar, you don't seem to get the expected power in the ball as before. It feels like Fifa. The ball feels too heavy and laboured. The only good thing is you do seem to have more control over how much power you can put in the ball, but it moves too slow and laboured. The physics for the passing were perfect before, all it needed was more control over how much power you put into the ball.

There are more improvements and bad features I feel, but I think this post is long enough.

Perhaps I need to play more but I've still seen quick players (Lennon, Agbonlahor) sprinting down flanks getting past defenders. Crosses also look great now, more bend and really whipped. Generally the ball physics are now best I've seen in any football game.

I haven't yet connected with a cross to know if attacking headers have improved, before patch the attacker would NEVER beat a defender to a cross and power a header. If you are lucky the striker stands alone and heads it lamely towards goal. Anyone know if that's fixed? I did see a fantastic goal by CPU (tho offside!) where Walcott met a cross first time volley into roof of net. Looked amazing. He looked gutted!

I agree with you rat monkey there are things that have been improved ALOT and things that and be sacrificed buti think overall the game is better and hopefully they release a lil patch soon to tweak the little imperfections in this new pes but i hope they dont make another patch saying its to iron out this new game and ruin it.

The finesse curve shot is MAJORLY improved you can actually score with it now its amazing im curving in shots from outside the box with ronaldinho and loving it.

i think the players balance is alittle be strange cause you dont really have to double tap x to tackle players you can kind of run into them and knock them off the ballin respect to that i think the collisions before the patch where silly too because theyd all bump into eachother and then stand like a zombie but now players actuall fall over(alittle too much but i see where they are going withit) the 360 axis is gone and now you cant curve your running im 50-50 with this i kind of miss it and i kind of dont so im not too sure which i prefer but saying that i like both in there own ways.

R2- Deft touch dribble is now perfect it feels responsive like pes13 was because i actually never used it before this patch it too so long for the player to respond to me actually holding it down for close dribbling id just lose the ball everytime but now i can jog and then hold R2 and do some acute dribbling to beat a player theyve managed to get it spot on while your are sprinting if you try to use R2 the player will slow down slightly before he pulls it off which makes sense because in pes13 even at full speed you could quickly press R2 and begin close dribbles on instant so respect to how theyve worked it in pes14

Atm im in love with the new responsiveness to the game and the players i havent see anyone with slow reactions or zombie gazing,

I hardly ever do skills anymore because they arent affective anymore if you do a skill to beat one defender there is another one already there to take the ball from you.

I miss the 360 turning axis cause now i cant seem to wiz around a player atall.

The shooting is better in some ways but in another not 1 on 1 with the keep just seems to blast it directly at him unless you try R2 and shoot and even that isnt guaranteed

What they should of done is just lowered the resolution like they have to stop the lag and adjusted the power bar with for Curve shots and the nit would of been perfected.

Tbh with you mate the more i play PES14 now the more i hate it there is no flow the a match i feel like everytime im on the ball i have about 0.000000.1 of a second before a player comes running into me and i have to pass the ball its very difficult to just do and individual run with a player its very frustrating now ive played a few people on MLO with the default team level 1 and its exactly the same even though i win i have to ping the ball around regardless, tbh i thought the game was saved but the only thing that is still fun is the Team Play Lobbies playing 5v5 or something, for me now the game has taken a giant leap backwards i mean if you compare these new physics to PES13 i think PES13 is better lol.

One thing i think everyone would like to know is do konami actually play this game as it is and dribble in amazement:wub:? Do you think if you play a 1v1 with the game developers they'd be unbeatable and know every trick in the book?

God knows.

Ive dropped from 780 to 820 ish rating to just about scraping myself above 700 to 720 keeping me in "top player" And ive decided to quit playing MLO as of today strictly Team play lobby.

This game is not about learning to play the game on patience or improve on your dexterity, reflex skills or tactical mind.

Behind the facade of bull-shitting "simulation" there are cunning and sadistic scripting choreographic events to make it looking like You have the control but in fact You don't.

This game is a master of masquerade, smoke-screen, deception.

The AI of your team mates are deliberately programmed to fail. Do You realize that most of your conceded goal is always initiated when one of your AI team mate suddenly stops in his run, being pushed out of his path by an invisible scripted event, being carried backwards a quarter of the field by an opponent striker barging into him, by suddenly tumbling, falling over backwards when an opponent just at his vicinity (no collision needed).

When You are 1 or 2 goals over your opponent, suddenly one small rebound
from the foot of your player jumps impossibly a long distance to an opponent nearby and here will score.

It is always the unnatural, skewed, out of their way rebounds that results in your conceding.

When You are 1 or 2 goals over your opponent, one simple short pass to your team mate suddenly went out of its way, as if magnetized into the foot of a striker conveniently nearby.

Do you realize that your defenders are programmed to always tuck themselves behind the opponent strikers at any through pass, tipping tapping like drunken monkeys behind him and You can not do anything if this animation triggered, only at the moment when he strike that You have a semblance of control back. But it is already too late...

Your controlled player and your AI teammate or even the ball always WAITS, PAUSES, DELAYS its natural course, trajectory and response, until the game deems your opponent regain upper hand control, then the game will let your input into play or the game will re-trigger AI of your team mate.

The ball followed a 2 -tier hybrid of law in this game: Simulated physics dictated by game script and cheating mechanism.

The ball physics has been tinkered with to give it an unnatural helpful bounce to your opponent. It seems that the collision/momentum system just makes the ball drop/snap to the opposition, defying the laws of physics.

The ball has its own AI script built in, to speed up, slow down, delay its rolling speed, changing abruptly its trajectories, avoiding a player, seeking a player, constantly magnetized/ sticking to one's feet, the ball is playing the favorite throughout the game, just like the pre-programmed to be bias and corrupted referee.


The input of your game controller is delayed, ignored, altered at will. That's why You have no chance to response when pressured by your opponents.
Every of your simple pass becomes wayward, erroneous, laborious, You always have to struggle, to wrestle with your controller to control your player.

You always have this constant frustrating infuriating feeling that You know a certain event was gonna happen but totally powerless to prevent it and this frustration is wearing you down as it gets on your nerve CONSTANTLY, annoyingly, arrogantly, blatantly.

This poor excuse of a "sport" game is designed by obnoxious sadists to be played by "patient" masochists, who may randomly enjoy it.

There is no other single game in the market designed with the passion to screw up human player as dedicatedly, fervently and BLATANTLY as this game when it destroying any shred of concept of sport fairness, game developer integrity, ethics and honesty.

It's a masterpiece in showing how arrogant game programmers can deceptively and maliciously screw up/disregard the human player efforts over and over again.

Your skill and experience is not appreciated and honored in this game. You have no trust in game mechanism because there is no integrity and consistency or logics in events unfolding in the match. There is no settled rule to live by in this game. It will screw You up whenever it wanted (it is not only programmed to be triggered at certain time or event in the match, it is programmed to sabotage You constantly in the match).

They say a giving someone a "sporting" chance, but human player has no chance in this poor excuse of a "sport simulation" game.

This is the Call Of Duty of soccer, with rubberbanding, scripted event built in game mechanism.

This is typical JAPANESE SADISTic game design philosophy PES METAL GEAR RISING: RE-VENGEANCE with bosses that stubbornly refuse to die and ridiculously powerful and when you play the game laboriously with all your fingers aching, bleeding and catching yourself swearing, cussing...You ask yourself a question if You are a masochist or not.


You should not invest your sporty passion and enthusiasm, your emotional energy, your mental well-being into this treacherous travesty of entertainment.

I just dont see why they had to mess with the physics , the new physics in the game is what i liked because it was a step up in the new generation it was the ball physics the lag input and bad goal keepers that need fixing in result

Goal keepers are fixed , the lob chip shot is fix the long ball L1 triangle is fixed and lowering the resolution has solved the lag.

But changing the movement animations to was is probably worse than PES13 ,messing with the collisions and ball physics has cost all those fixes dearly.

All they need todo is put the old smooth physics back and it will be a great game. ive already got used to the power adjustment and the ball doesnt bounce back to your opponent as much as it use too so literally just bring back the old animations and its done in my opinion.

I still don`t like the new patch, while the AI is fine now they removed everything what made PES2014 more real. The players don`t seem to have a weight/mass anymore, the game now feels complete fake to me now like a FIFA game or an older PES. I also want the old physics back.

Maybe this is konamis way of sticking a middle finger up too all the pes fans who unleashed hatred on them for trying to develop a platform to the new gen for us
