Diving

I know there's a bit of debate on the handball feature of PES-gone-by but what do you guys make of diving in PES? Personally, in PES08 on the PS3, I never managed to get a decision by simulation so I pretty much abandoned it, aside from comedy moments. Has anyone found a way or properly conning the ref?

I've worked it a couple of times, and every time I'm down/loosing in an important game it does always cross my mind I have to admit. I do very rarely use it now though, as - like you say - it hardly ever works.

It's such a laugh when you do it against a mate though.

I'm not denying the comedy aspect. It's hilarious. For the N64 ISS's, it did actually work. I remember you would get A-tackled which wouldn't get the ball but make your lad almost stumble and then double over. Then you could hammer all 4 C buttons to make the most ridiculous dive, where they threw themselves a good 6 feet in the air. More often than not, you didn't get anything but a yellow but you did sometimes get it.

I liked it better this way because that happened maybe once or twice a match in the box, and you would also have to be quick. Also, it could only be done when your playing was mid-stumble. There really was nothing better to wind up a mate than get away with a blatant dive. Seriously though, perhaps maybe when the player stumbled through a challenge, you could then only activate the dive move.

I remember sometimes in PES 08, there was blatant fouls, but because your lad stayed on his feet, you got nothing and the chance was gone. I think that's where the diving should be introduced (if at all)

I read somewhere that it has more of an affect when your 1-0 up or something. Not sure if it's true. I managed to get a few p.k's in pes08 but haven't tried in 2009.

i have used it a few times but you very rarely get it , i have been given the decision 3 times, once the man even got sent off !, was one on one with the keeper and with my slow ass 18 year old on BAL a defender caught up with me and was jostling so i dived thinking hes the last man back , it worked he got sent off !!!!

In the pes2009 demo i overused the Dive button which led to a vast amount of yellow cards. Despite this on two occasions i was able to win a freekick.

Firstly i shielded the ball and as the defender was learning in to me i dived, lol

secondly i was dribbling on the edge of the area, and ran between two defenders, then as they closed me down i dived earning myself a freekick (which i scored)

maybe its when your being put under pressure like if a players leaning on you and your shielding yuo might have a better chance at getting away with a dive , like one on one with the keeper , if your being pressured you might get it , forwards are supposed to get advantage aswel by the refs in real life so maybe thats the same in the game

I'd have thought chances of getting a decision are improved when you're shirt is being pulled. I however have had a successful dive maybe twice ever. The only one on this years version was a penalty I won on the demo. The best one I've ever seen was playing with a friend on a joint master league we had going last year, 2-1 down in injury time, he dives in the box, wins the penalty, I score it. Unreal.

If you're in for comedy, anyone remembers arcade soccer game called 'Super Sidekicks'? There was a pretty neat way to execute fouls by punching, kicking and throwing opposition (not talkin' 'bout harsh tackles but judo throws and Mortal Kombat type blows). If refferee is not in the screen, you'll get away with it. KONAMI should consider putting stuff like that in the PES series. Fuck useless & lame diving!

Lmao i tried to dive over the ref once, just to see what happens.
nothing good came of it, i lost the ball and the other team scored haha

i often thought that if you dived close to your own goal like if a CF was pressuring your centre half you'd be more likely to get the call...
