I'm not denying the comedy aspect. It's hilarious. For the N64 ISS's, it did actually work. I remember you would get A-tackled which wouldn't get the ball but make your lad almost stumble and then double over. Then you could hammer all 4 C buttons to make the most ridiculous dive, where they threw themselves a good 6 feet in the air. More often than not, you didn't get anything but a yellow but you did sometimes get it.
I liked it better this way because that happened maybe once or twice a match in the box, and you would also have to be quick. Also, it could only be done when your playing was mid-stumble. There really was nothing better to wind up a mate than get away with a blatant dive. Seriously though, perhaps maybe when the player stumbled through a challenge, you could then only activate the dive move.
I remember sometimes in PES 08, there was blatant fouls, but because your lad stayed on his feet, you got nothing and the chance was gone. I think that's where the diving should be introduced (if at all)
