Ok so now i know why people are getting so annoyed with pes2008 without world tour mode its near enough the same as the others!!
WORLD TOUR MODE RULES!!!

So it would appear. A lzy ommission by Konami from Xbox/PS3/PC versions to say the least, but about the only positive on the PS2 version over PES6...

NO WAY FLICK!!!

Yes way it would appear. Oh, btw, no 'L' in the name ta, i'm not a hot female aussie soap character...;)

think about how good pes5 and pes4 were they were the days wer konami had the grasp of real football the days wer u had to work ur ass off for that crucial goal, the frustrating but realistic 0-0 draws the feeling of scoring the perfect goal all of this and more was in pes5 and pes4, now jus think about pes2008 n see if u can truly honestly say that pes2008 is a good game, if u are a true pesfan like me u will know that konami has failed this year.

I would be interested to know how many of you play "real" football.( and no , the school team does not count ) and at what sort of level they have played to.

I have played "real" Football. The levels i have played at are Sunday League Under 10's, Under 15's, Under 17s, Youth. I used to play Right Wing, quickest player on the team, in Under 17's, and When shoudler to shoulder i, most of the time, used to lose out on strength. Same goes on Pro Evo, Ronaldo vs Makelele, Makelele is stronger than Ronaldo.

As height is such a disadvantage can you explain to me why the players who need to be the strongest and generally do most the tackling( usually your centre backs ) tend to be over 6ft tall? I can really see those midgets knocking them over, because afterall they have a lower centre of gravity!!!

Once again, Height and Strength is not always key, Darren Moore vs Rooney?, i'd back Rooney, and from my experience, one of the teams i used to be with(Under 17's) had players under 6ft, but they were extremely strong. So you don't have to be 6ft 5in and be solid as a rock, you can be Michael Owen size and be strong.

PES2008 is an unbeleivably good game, it's very realistic. But if you are controlling Ronaldo and lose the ball, to some Makelele, don't Say "WTF!?!" just say to yourself, "Thats Football for you"

Are you kidding? On PES4, PES5 i used to score more than 4 goals every game no matter what team on Top Player or 6 Stars, On PES2008, i struggle to score more than 2 the highest scoreline on Top Player on PES2008 is 3-1 for me, PES2008 for me is the Most Realistic, Football Game on the Next-Gen consoles.

i'd agree with most of them you listed maybe not to the extreme you make out, but it is annoying when ou slide tackle and they get the ball most of the time wat really gets to me is how the keeper saves it, and no matter wat if tht ball is heading more towards the corner flag and straight it will always curl off and go for a corner, id agree on tht most keepers wud do that because its how there taught but in the middle of the net and saves it to be able to push it out for a corner is amazing hahahaha so unrealistic and so many chances i've missed due to it spinning off for a corner and its goin so slow aswel.

but overall i can stand it and its a good game, but it is annoying, what annoys me the most is tht dam ref i keep gettin fouls for no reason and on the reply theres nothing and the worsed ones are when i clearly get the ball and some how he blows his stupid whistle ive lost games due to that and i really love that wen i score sometimes the commentary is still talking about somet what happened way before it lol.

not sure that i necessarily feel like the COM is cheating, but i am finding it frustrating that i can simply "feel" their scoring coming before it happens...

take tonight for example... milan (me) vs. zaragoza, i'm up 2-0 at 65 min gone... about 2 minutes after i score goal #2, i can just "feel" the comeback coming. they start winning the midfield, where i had been dominating... after having only 2 shots at the half, all of a sudden they are getting shots left and right.... and i can't do anything to stop it.

needless to say, they end up tying it up with 2 minutes left.

Yes, PES AI cheats and it always has done. It cheats in both multiplayer and single player modes favouring one team over the other most of the time. In PES1 + 3, it was excusable as other areas of the games were balanced enough for the scripting not to stick out like a total sore thumb. In PES5, the AI was so defensively biased that often the only way to get a ‘good’ goal would be to have the AI ‘scripting’ in your favour. This forced everyone in PES5 to exploit the AI just as relentlessly as gamers exploited the PES4 cut-back and lob-shots. (How I laugh when I read posts stating that PES4 was the best PES..really tough etc etc…). With PES6, cheating AI was EVERYTHING. In their bid to make the game more ‘exciting’, Konami thought it would be a good idea to take a large proportion of the control of the matches destiny, away from the gamers, and into the hands of the cheating AI which would churn out exciting Roy of the Rovers ‘scripts’ for gamers to play out. Of course, most gamers were still too thick to even realise it. With PES2008, the scripting is not quite as bad as it was in PES6, but when combined with the gross AI imbalances and deficiencies, it makes the game completely intolerable to any discerning gamer. The result; gamers are turning away from PES in their droves. This fact can be confirmed by monitoring the various PES forum activity across the internet. Despite PES2008 selling more copies than any other title, the forums are all dead and nobody is playing it. Hopefully Konami will realise that they are on the verge of losing a huge chunk of their fanbase and will ensure that PES200X is something special.

Matthecat ive never heard of such rubbish!!!
Can you not play pes2008 is it too hard for you, ive played many a version of pes and each time it has little adjustments some harder than others some better than others and yes the system has certain ways to help the AI along but cheating isnt one of them!!! I can understand people with a PS3 feel let down as the game wasnt ready but the fact remains PES is and always will be the best footie game on a console!! No matter what forums say it does not speak for everyone!!!

You obvioulsy have not played the game at my 'level'.

I was playing and in Edinburgh ProEv Guild and competing against thee very best gamers in the country......Nothing to bam off about...just saying that I KNOW how to play the game.

Look mate:

Rob McLean.....UK #1 ..sez the game is utter crap

Mark Gardiner.....PLAY 50K Winner....sez the game is utter gash...(even though he has just won a fortune palying it)

Like I said, discerning gamers are turning away from the game in droves for the aforementioned reasons in my post above. But fanboys who are too dumb to see through some very cheap and faulty AI still seem to quite enjoy the game.....

Or maybe some gamers just like tacky arcade action......each to their own eh?

I'm getting frankley annoyed by the people saying PES2008 is a shit game. Look, if you hate PES2008 go and play shitty FIFA because
"you would rather play with plastic people".
Im saying PES2008 is a good game, yes there are some faults in the game, but i reckon you all should be grateful because Konami could have said
"Lets not bring out a PES2008 this year and wait till October 2008" but they didn't because they wanted the PES fans to play their favorite football game. I'm sorry but all you who said "PES2008 is shit a game" and the "computer cheats" need to get a brain scan or something because the gameplay of PES2008 on the Next-Gen consoles is way better than FIFA. If you keep conceding more than 3 goals everygame, thats your fault not the computers.

I bet if PES2008 had all the licenses you all wouldn't be moaning then!

Well that's your opinion - I'm also an Amateur player, I used to play for my local Club - And I don't understand how any Football Fan or Player can say that PES 2008 is a Good Football game.

PES 2008 is not Football mate - Pace is worthless without Skill. Why, oh why can I literally score a goal with any fast player?? Whenever I want?? Ronaldo is literally unstoppable, my favourite player of the game, I just run turn and score lots of goals - Boring.

And by the way, you mentioned Ronaldo and Makelele - Can you say the same for players like Juan Roman Riquelme, Zinedine Zidane, Carlos Valderrama, etc, etc..?? Riquelme losses the ball to easily, and Ronaldinho is quite gifted at defending. I mean, Is that realistic?? Riquelme just giving the ball away easily? and Ronaldinho working his a$$ off defending and stealing balls??

In reality - Riquelme almost never losses the ball, and is one of The best players at protecting the ball from opponents. And Ronaldinho does not moves one finger to help out DEFENSIVELY. I'm sorry to disagree with you, but PES 2008 is actually very UNREALISTIC.
