Does The A.I Cheat??

Having played the Demo alot over 60 games, ive come to the impression the the A.I cheats in PES09.

Heres my reasons why i feel this,

1 - When an oppostion player break with the ball its almost impossible to catch him but when my players do this the A.I catches my players.

An Example of this is Playing with Barca Rooney got free and i could get near him, then to make sure i was playing with Man u and with Rooney i tried to get away but was caught up by Puyol. Interesting.

2 - In any 50 - 50 the A.I wil win the ball 90% of the time when the ball is loose i can almost gurantee the the A.I will get the ball b4 any of my players.

3 - im sure theres more but i though u guys could list some Cheats that you feel the A.I have.

ps Toni Goal Celebration is Sickkkkk!!

Also...
When they win a corner from noooooooowher you know its goal...
And it almost happens every time you are winning with a goal or you are tie...
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST ANNOYING THINGS...And I'm sure that others also noticed that...

Not only does the AI cheat in single player but it cheats and interferes with the game in two player mode.

Seabass has referred to this phenomena as being a result of the 'Gameflow Momentum Engine" No doubt if the GME did not exist PES would be an overall much blander experience 'Al la PES1' with much less variety and much more predictability. However, in recent years, the AI interference in the game has become a joke and I remember PES6 in particular being a huge turn off for long term fans of the series. In this game, a total noob could beat a veteran sometimes 3 - 0 or something just down to pure 'luck'. when it gets to this point, you have got to wonder whether you are playing the game or whether the game is playing (with) you.

i dunno, playing online on pes6(which was way less laggy than 08) whenever i felt the AI was cheating, ie my shots were always missing and usually theyd be going in, if the opponent wasnt as good as me i could easily just jog past players and tap in with the like of venegoor or beat the keeper, it was gay non the less

Yeah...

If the AI was cheating against you, you always had the option of cheating against the AI by dancing 20 circles inside the pen box and laying ball off for lame goal.

but as u say...totally gay...

it has been this combination that has destroyed PES for me over the years.

Optimus Prime is an Arsenal fan? Wow!

Anyway, are the free kicks as bad as they were? i.e. Top Player scores every time.

I've got two question:

1 - Which console have you been playing on?

2 - Do you have the cursor/player change setting to manual, or semi-auto?

Do you have the cursor/player change setting to manual, or semi-auto?

It dosen't matter what you have the cursor on, because these kinds of problems always came up.
Unless you used Super Cancel but why should i have to use Super Cancel everytime one of player's dosen't react to my commands?

Here's a list of Cursor Problems from the PS2 version of PES2008.

Example 1: your chasing the opponent's attacker down the wing with two players; and you want to change the cursor to your defender in the middle so he can either intercept the pass to the center or block the attacker's way towards your goal; so you tap L1, you tap it again, and again, and again - the cursor just keeps switching between the two defenders you have on the flank and by now you would have already been left behind by the opponent's attacker.
Example 2: the opposition are on the attack, and are running at your defence. then the computer nullifies your control over your team as your forced to watch the computer run towards your goal which 99% of the time would result in the computer scoring, and it wouldn't matter how many times you pressed L1 and a directional button or L1 and the left analog stick, as you would still end up giving away a unfair goal.
Example 3: The opposition perform a through ball or long range pass in your area, and the ball lands near one of your players and instead of them clearing the ball they move in the other direction thus giving the opposition a free run on goal. what' makes this worse is the fact that your player would now be running behind one of the opposition player's that has the ball.
despite the fact that they were originally in the perfect position to close the opposition player down.
Example 4: Your in the opponents half of the field you pass or cross the ball to one of your team mates they wait for the ball to come towards them, then they run away from the ball as it reaches them. and when they decide to actually go after the ball, it becomes too late as the ball would have already crossed the line for a throw-in or goal kick.
Example 5: Similarly, when the opposition (computer) is passing the ball around their defence, and you've timed a tackle perfectly so you're just about to intercept a pass just outside their penalty area, when suddenly again the CPU takes control of your player, and makes them run away from the ball, just as you were about to prevent the interception, when in reality you've simply kept your finger on the same directional button!
Example 6: It's really ridiculous when you play a great through ball in a diagonal direction, insted of your player running towards the ball, the AI takes control of your player and he runs alongside it, usually resulting in the opposition defender getting the ball.
Example 7: When taking penalties you sometimes have no control over your players as the computer randomly takes control of your players to miss, score, or save penalties.
(This happens with penalties in normal matches and in penalty shoot-outs.)
Example 8: When your on the attack, and you play a crisp ball to your attacker, your attack is ruined by one of the following reasons. One of your players inexplicably decides to stop in mid run (for a brief moment, thus losing your momentum), Or they slow down pathetically, thus again casusing you to lose your momentum. Or they start to run forwards, before briefly stopping and then they start to run in the other direction, before deciding to move forwards again,
Or just stands there like a clown. and by this point the CPU would run towards him and steals the ball!
Example 9: When your player wins the ball from a CPU player but just as they turn round another CPU player runs into them and your player loses the ball again, and instead of them trying to get the ball back they just run in the other direction.
Example 10: When your player turns round after winning the ball but a CPU player sticks his leg out to win the ball back from your player, your player would then takes ages to go after the ball while the CPU gets to the loose ball in a matter of seconds.
Example 11: When your player is running towards the opponents goal but loses the ball to a CPU player that he has just ran into, your player then runs in the other direction while the CPU gets the ball and runs into your half of the pitch.
Example 12: When you want to clear the ball in your penalty area, the CPU decides to take control of one of your players and carelessly tackles someone down from behind which usually gives away penalties.
Example 13: CPU also takes control of one of your players and gives away free kicks.
Example 14: When your about to take a drop kick with your goalkeeper but decide to wait until
your players get back into position the CPU hastily takes control of your goalkeeper and does it for you which can be very frustrating as the CPU almost always seems to get to the ball before your players.
Example 15: CPU are on the attack so your player runs over to possibly stop the opposition in their tracks? yeah right instead your player would run up to the opposition then he would run straight passed the CPU player and stand near the touchline.
Example 16: The CPU has the ball and is running towards your goal and they get ready to shoot so before that happens one of your players runs right in front of them to presumably to tackle them but no that player then turn around and runs in the other direction.
Example 17: CPU has the ball and is running at your defence one of your players stands in the way to block off their route to goal but as the CPU player approaches your goal, your player would move out of the way and would literally run right off the pitch.
Example 18: CPU has the ball and are running into your half of the field where 5 players, are protectiong your goal (1 player on the left, 4 players on the right), but as soon as the CPU gets closer to your goal the player on the left and the 4 players on the right part like the red sea thus leaving a gaping hole in the defence.
Example 19: CPU blasts the ball at one of your players but that player who was just hit with the ball dosen't even bother to move, even though the ball is now at their feet.
Example 20: A player has a shot on goal which the goalkeeper saves, but the goalkeeper then falls on the floor, but because the keeper took so long to get up the opposition player gets the ball and scores an easy tap-in.
Example 21: You Pass the ball to one of your players but they stand still and refuse to react as the ball approaches them so the ball just ends up going straight through their legs.
Example 22: A CPU player gets knocked over by one of your players, but the player who just knocked over the CPU player dosen't try to go after the ball instead that player would go and stand as far away from the ball as they can, thus giving the CPU enough time to get up and collect the loose ball.
Example 23: CPU player is running towards your goal, but one of of your players who has his back towards the opposition player who is approaching the goal sticks out his heel and stops the oncoming attack with the heel of his boot. but he dosen't bother to clear the ball so the CPU collects the loose ball and either goes for goal himself or he passes the ball to a team mate who is closer to goal.
