Anyone else sick of playing teams with these front 3 up top? I am at a decent enough level now where I am in division 1 and have a pretty good team, I can't afford the superstars but my team is good, valued at around £95 million. Now when I go on the 'random' quick match, i ALWAYS draw div 1 teams and they 90% of the time have some, or all or even more than the above 3 speed merchants!!

Now I still beat these teams more often than not....but its gets boring. Same old ball over the top, head down and run, run around my helpless goalkeeper who I dont call out but comes out anyway and score the open goal. They then repeat this (or try to) over and over. They have no plan B, they have no skill, they are 100% dependant on speed merchants. I played someone the other day whos top 6 players (all over the half way line) were ALL speed merchants. I am talking the mentioned 3 plus dotan, piatti, barretto, mphela, lavezzi, ronaldo and messi...depending on what they can afford!! The later 2 are almost impossible to stop unless you have top defenders.

The reason I loved master league online was for the variety, to stay away from the usual Barca or Real Madrid whores who are on the normal online ranked match. Now you just get whatever speed merchants they can afford running at you the whole game :realmad:

I feel your pain on speed merchants is used way too often, Pato is unrealistic in terms of how he performs in real life. On the other hand, Villa is not really a speed merchant as he has only 83 top speed and 82 dribble speed.

villa has the speed merchant card, so regardless of his stats he is still capable of dribbling past your whole team if you let your concentration down. I dont watch much italian football but from what i have seen pato is not that fast, certainly not like messi lol.

So after getting even more annoyed I finally gave it to the noobs....I bought eto'o. Obv went on a 8 game win streak!!Its so easy if you have a little skill, its almost boring. On another note since buying distin at back I have noticed I can pocket most speed merchant abusers with him :)

Pato imo is much faster than Messi.
It's just that Messi runs at high speed with excellent ball control.
Pato vs Walcott now i'd like to see that race.

Lol ok he is pretty fast watchin that! He should have high top speed then but not the close dribble skills he has! Any1 wud think he is better than barretto!!!!

That is where it shows pato do a speed merchant turn without losing speed.
Anyway he has good dribble accuracy as he accurately knocked it on straight 90 degrees where it wasn't too far from him.
Messi isn't even fast in pes 2012

I also thought i can play a balancend-short-game, but then i nearly went crazy because of all them Barreto, Piatti, Mphela, everybody can afford. But the better your team will get on the Positions, that less problems you got.
I also got some of this better speedy-player(Ronaldo-Eto'o-Pato), now i can cangeup between quick shortpass game and hit 'em deep.
And that's the way PES 2012 is.

its just down to the fact that majority of the people cannot do any damage without speed merchants or lobbed through balls to the wing to cross.
plus, the price does not go up high enough to stop these people from all buying them

its asif these people have never watched a game of football. i think ive cracked how to deal with these dribblers and very few runs get by me now. (when im paying attention anyway) and its quite amusing how lost they become having never been taught about the 1-2 or any passing in triangles etc etc.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Man city........ watch them play... Yeah they have players that can dribble round anyone but how many times do they sprint down the wing never making a pass. Boring unrealistic football and a complete lack of tactical pazaz.

AS boring as it is to play against and surely a boring way to play with the same move and goal each time, I would like to thank those one dimensional immbossiles for helping me win games.

Play deep line and defensive player support and batter these retards

I now have a defence of glen johnson, distin, zebina and enrique. These all deal with speed merchants no probs now. Yes I still concede the odd run down the wing cross goal but I almost never concede a long ball over the top goal now.

My advice, as tempting as it is to invest heavily in your forward line, is to make sure your back 4 and DM are sound. They dont have to be world class, just good enough to not get skinned by mphela!!

My issue like I said is the abuse and one minded thought of speed merchant abusers, not the players with the speed merchant card themselves. I played someone last night who had a 700+ rating, checked out his team, he had messi, pato, eto, inesta, puyol the job lot!! We played, he beat me 4-1 BUT he played proper football. He didnt pass it to messi and try and take my whole team on, he beat me because he was simply a better player. The sort where you concede a goal and nearly applaud the goal yourself. This led to me for the first time on pes 12 sending a message saying well done, good game.

even the cheap defenders can do a job, you just have to look for stats in the right places, responsiveness, Body balance, defense and jump 75+, top speed 70+. On an Orange or red theses are the defenders you need to look for, some of them are also quite cheap.

Because 99% of people online want to win at all costs, even if that means by playing repetitive football/scoring glitch goals every match.

since the patch, I've played more games against D1 teams and what i notice is 100% of these teams has at least 2 speed merchants and 70% of these teams use a speed type team. its getting pretty frustrating and boring, and I always wonder what rating these people will be if konami did not make speed merchants or team types.

Imaging if the removed the Speed Merchant card, then the game would just be PES 2011. Just because C. Ronaldo and Pato can outrun your defender, its a part of real life soccer. If you watch last night's Real Madrid vs Barcelona, it reminds me alot of this game hence this game is not as "chessy" as you think.

no the game would not be like pes 2011 if you remove speed merchants, in pes 2012 the speed is fine, a fast striker will still be able to outrun defenders given the space. Whats unrealistic with speed merchants is that they can sprint and change direction and continue sprinting without losing any speed at all, add speed team type to that and they can turn even faster.
What speed merchants offer is an easy way out. I'm not accusing all speed merchants users to be cheesers as I look for pace in my strikers too, but you'll never see me running to the sideline to cross every single time just because i know i can out run the defenders. The only player that deserves to play like a speed merchant is messi, not pato, not villa, and definitely not mphella and barretto.
of course, how a person plays depends on him, its just bad on konami's part that they created something so unrealistic and easy to exploit. and having played online for so many years, we all know people are just going to use whatever is the most overpowered and most likely to get them the win, its the exact same reason why people choose barca or real every game.

How do you explain Free Roaming card then? If you're saying they did a bad job at adding Speed Merchants then in real life people stick to their position. I think what you're saying is that Speed Merchants are too fast when their make 45 degree turns, but if you have to be so pinpoint about how a player moves with the ball. At the given form arrows, they are far from what you are saying.

In more detail, they're giving Speed Merchants to those who should have this ability.
