FIFA 09 VS PES 2009 reviews!

Who is he? He's a nobody... Giving he's own opinion that means nothing to me. I've loved every PES to date, I know 08 was the worst, but it was still playable more than FIFA (for me!). I couldn't care less what all the reviews say because I have a game that I enjoy playing.

Even if I was in 2 minds about which one to buy, reviews would never entice me into which one to buy. No-one knows what makes me tick about games so only I can make the decision. :)

I don't mean to sound offensive, but people that give reviews are just seeking attention. Meaning they have nothing better to be doing...

There was quite a few reviews by professional magazines and websites in that list, reviewed by people who are employed to play games and write reviews in a professional manner, giving a fair and unbiased opinion, which is what a review is supposed to be.

Fair enough. Just saying, some people listen to reviews and go out to buy the game based on those reveiws, then realise it was shit and the guy had no idea what he was talking about, therefore, turning on the devs saying the game is shit and they want their money back and don't even think about questioning the guy who put the thought in their head to buy the game in the first place. :)

If it was just a couple of reviews i'd accept your point, but when it's about 20 or more, i'd say your clutching at loose straws bud. Sorry.

P.S. Just had a bosh on PES 5 on the PS2. Looks a bit shady now, but the basics of the gameplay are probably still untouched by any other football game.

I see what your saying but its like I said, there can be 100 people ramming it down my ear saying FIFA is better than PES, or PES is better than FIFA, but I won't buy anything based on their assumptions. Once I have bought the game, fair enough, if I can be bothered, I will go back and have a read to see if what they we're saying is right or wrong. But near enough all of those reviews give FIFA the overall score, and some people just look at that, not reading the small detail. Then what happens? They go out, buy the game with the best overall score based on the "professional" reviews and they don't like it... After that, their looking for someone to vent their frustrations therefore heading over to the forums for that given game to start throwing their toys out of the pram. It seems this is happening allot nowadays...

Can som1 explain to me the point of legends. What do you get out of it?
I made a quick topic about this, hopefully it helps :) It really is great online, I think anyway.

Most reviewer don't play football. They look like they know, but still they don't sense the beautiful game.

PES >>> Fifa, and it's not even close.

I bet if you ask the folks up at EA which game is better they'll tell u PES... after all they have steadily been incorporating elements of PES into their game for the past 4 years.

PES on it's worst day (PES 2008) is still better than any Fifa game out there.

I wonder what fifa lovers see in that game. Don't you (fifa lovers) feel irritated at the linesmen? They never wave that flag. Don't you feel sleepy with the slow pace of the game?

With pes 2009 left-stick-moves-and-tricks you can really feel now that you are playing football while you're just playing game. Why? Because when you move the left-stick because of your reflex to beat the defender, the resulting player movement is very (very x10) satisfying esp. when you manage to beat that defender.

It feels just like when.. "you have the ball, then you see the defender left foot tackle is approaching, out of just reflex and years playing amateur football your right foot suddenly push the ball to the left with your left foot ready to quickly push the ball forward, and you get past the defender!!!" --> translate to wiggle diagonally left then suddenly forward with the left stick.

Maybe, maybe not. I enjoy PES, not the best PES ever, but beats PES08 by a long shot.

If I never had PES09 and I read 100 bad reviews and 1 good review, neither will change the fact I'm buying it. If its a game I've never heard of, then I will try a demo, or acquire before I buy. Another reason why I love the PC :)

Yeah, as you said earlier reviews are nothing its about personal taste. Like no-one on this forum can say to someone:
"Don't buy this game, its shit"
the reason why is because you cant do that to some-one because thats just an opinion.

Yup, which is why I haven't slated any of the games. PES or FIFA. I've clearly stated FIFA is not the game for me and why, and I don't need to bring it up in every post comparing it to PES.

People are quick enough to judge PES but don't seem to realise how long PES09 has been out. If people don't like certain features, wait for the update in November then past judgement if you wish. But none of you who say PES is shit have barely giving PES the chance this year, your expectations seem a bit too high.

linesman doesnt wave flag?????
he does :erm:
as for your view on wiggling the stick, have you played the game?, i'll defend fifa because i do like pes and fifa this year, what your saying is not possible

a lot of the review ratings are given by comparing previous versions of that same game

For example, Computerandvideogames.com gave FIFA 9.0 and PES 8.8 but in the review they say PES is still the best footy game available

lol, wow, that's a terrible way of reviewing games.

In fairness, Fifa hasn't had its update to fix the bugs yet, so maybe people shouldn't be so judgemental about that then?

I know I've defended it a lot lately, but only because it's a huge improvement over 2007 and 2008. Like the guys at WENB said in the Podcast reviews; They slated Fifa for years when it was poor, so at least give it credit when it's good.

I think it's just gonna take a while for it to shrug off it's reputation, and be seen for the great game it really is. On the other hand PES is clinging onto it's reputation as being class, rather undeservedly in my eyes.

FIFA as a complete package is obviously better than PES.

Its just a matter of what you want. I have both but play PES waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more.

No he doesn't. I've played FIFA 09 demo to the fullest and nothing. Feeling disappointed with the demo then I refuse to buy the full version. Do you refer to the full version?

I've played FIFA ever since FIFA 2000. Like it for its full license and I keep hoping that it will finally be better than PES. However the 09 just don't satisfy me, then I finally give up on buying this year's version of FIFA to save me from further disappointment.

To do trick dribbling with fifa, you use right analog stick just like previous PES, i prefer everything goes to left stick just like pes09 because sometimes you can do tricks out of reflex easily provided that the currently controlled player has the necessary technique. In fifa however, even terry can do marseille roulette when under pressure. Now, that's *awesome*.

I don't remember that I ever played any of the PES/winning eleven titles because of reviews!!!
Whenever I picked up the controller to give fifa a try it takes about 1-2 min before I throw the controller away (walk out of game store). All the fifa games are an insult to football.
I tried the demo of fifa 09, it has improved slightly over the garbage that's fifa 08. but still pes 08 on my ps2 beats it.

I think the simple answer to any fifa is better discussion should be "yeah..yeah ...whatever...go play your fifa".
