Original? mentioned that the points went up "overall", which I think means their rating when you press the R-stick.

"Oxlade-Chamberlain went up by 6 overall, Henderson up by 3 overall etc." I think he meant they went up by 6 overall as in their overall stat went up by 6. I doubt every one of his stats would suddenly shoot up by exactly 6 upon being transferred. I will agree with others that the edit mode on Fifa is a pain in the arse. One of the things that annoys me most is that some of the players have accented letters in their names which you have to get exactly right when searching or they don't come up. It's a nightmare when transferring Serbian, Croatian players etc.

That's what I mean. When you press the R-stick, you see their standard overall rating on the top-right(?), next to their faces. I didn't mean every individual attribute.

But that's what I was referring to in my post...the overall rating, so your post confused me.

But your post suggested it was specifically due to change of role in the team ("optimum position"), which I think isn't the reason. If you click on the R-stick, you'll see the overall rating will stay the same, no matter where in the team you put the player. You'll see on the line-up (in the first 11) that his ratings will fluctuate when you move him about to different positions. For example, Messi would be a 95 as a RW, but 90 as an AM. However, if you press R-stick, you'll see his overall rating is 93, regardless of his position in the first XI, even if it says different on the line-up.

I hope that clearly explains what I was originally saying. I try to be laconic with my posts, but I suppose it would've saved time and pointless effort to do it all from the start. Not that this is a pressing matter.

No, I wasn't R3ing every transfer I made, it was just on the transfer page that the overall ratings were changing. Phatmann's explanation makes sense, though I don't know why they show the overall for the position they are in for the current team. As everyone has said though, the edit mode is woeful, I don't see why you can't edit the database on the PC!

I would absolutely love to see the overall stat removed from the game, it's not representative and it takes away the individuality of players and strategies. I much prefer looking at their attributes and deciding for myself which player suits the team, unfortunately the chances of this happening are slim to none.

I always look at the players' attributes in Manager Mode. However, there isn't the time to do this when playing online, so this is probably where the overall stat proves handy, albeit not necessarily true to where the player should be playing. Maybe there should be an option to turn it off.

The old PES hexagon always did the trick, it pushes the element of understanding the players at your disposal and adds further depth to the game if you ask me.
