EA is feeling as confident as ever about the yearly FIFA vs PES battle as FIFA 08 and PES 7 prepare to do battle for another season.

"I'm happy to say that we're comfortably on top in the whole FIFA vs Pro Evolution Soccer battle," marketing manager Dan Holman told UK trade mag, MCV. Our market share has kept on increasing over the past three years, and more and more core gamers are being converted to FIFA all the time."

The bullishness doesn't end there either. "We've sold 1.7 million copies of the last FIFA and Pro Evo is lagging behind on just over a million," continued Holman, adding, "With the new platforms in place, we're confident that we will attract even more football fans to FIFA - both existing gamers and the wider, non-gaming football community."

Getting a bit ahead of themselves are they not. They've had plenty of experience on the next gen consoles and this is only pes' 2nd game on them. I'm fairly confident PES7 will be better than ever this year.

It's not really bullshit is it, it's just fact. Although the part about their market share increasing could be construed as misleading.

Fifa outsells PES because it appeals to the masses.

They undoubtedly will attract more gamers to the Fifa series, the market is still growing, but this is not necessarily a reflection of the quality of the game.

man.. I dislike the 360 compared to the ps2 version of the game... but comparing both 360 titles.... FIFA is utter shit.. I downloaded the demo and played two haves... utter shit unbearable...

I prefer the gameplay to the 360 version personally. You've just got to learn to love it without all the extras the PS2 has. PES7 will definately be worth the wait for all 360 owners who have had a majorly stripped down game for a whole year.

I kind of hope EA improves their gameplay to give konami a kick up the arse. People were saying that fifa champs league game was almost as good/as good as Pro ev. I downloaded it 2 days ago and oh my god it was terrible.

If PES had Premiership licenses, team names all correct and all that, it would be outselling FIFA. Some people are put off PES because the teams are called things like "Aragon" or "West London White" and the kit is just a plain shirt, or that their favourite team isnt there because they dont play in the Premiership.

theyve sold more coz there money grabbers,i mean come on,months after 07 they release the same game again only take teams out and call it the champions league,the differences were nil in the two!!!!fairplay to them if thy can sll th same game in different packaging and make money it must just be good business,or taking advantage of dumb people!but thats thee fifa trend,like when thy release 2 games at world cup time.so i feel thats an unfair comment on eas behalf.

i dislike fifa coz it looks poor,plays poor,animations poor,only put effort into odd player,shooting is always the same i never feel like I,me personally,affect wethere or not its a belter i score,unlike pes with body position,foot,strenght ect. it is becoming a retardede pes i agree,coz they see pes is a winning formula.

ive noticed fifas got harder to just run thru people unlike befor,ther run fast is in lines like on pes,but non of it is done half as good!!

I've had Champions League since it came out, and I still play it as regular as I do now. It's a fun game with a very addictive card trading game. I think the players still look poor on it, but, It makes up for it within the graphics of the stadiums (although there are no fans) and other details.

EA Sports in general has turned into complete garbage. The NHL and Madden series used to be big favorites of mine. NHL has gone completely down the toilet, and while Madden still sells a ton of copies, it honestly isn't that great gameplay-wise. EA will always have their yearly gimmick and arcadeish gameplay, which is why competitors like 2K sports and PES will have the advantage towards consumers who are avid sports gamers.
