agreed. i've finally adapted to 5 star play after about 3 weeks. i managed to beat barcelona 3-0 in their own home i'm getting there though i don't really know what's the best way to defend in PES5 cause i seem to foul alot and the referee seems to hate me or something.

The best way is to use x as little as possible. If you run near to the player who has the ball and get close to him. Press x and instead of fouling him, you normally win the ball. Its not as easy as that tho, alot of timing is involved. Also, don't be afriad to slide tackle anymore. I've gone straight through someone on the game and the ref didnt blow! (No pun intended there and no 'your gay' posting please!) Practice kinda makes perfect!

The game clicked when I battered someone 7-1 completey out of the blue.

BTW has anyone experienced a glitch in the ML when a player scores more than 3 goals but is only awarded those 3? Because in that match I had a striker who scored 4 goals and despite him scoring the goal he was never credited with it, I thought it was quite strange.

I've come across this minor yet annoying glitch!!


Rooney was top scorer with 7 goals in 3 games. 4th game he scored yet another hatrick and when i looked at the top goal/assists he only had 9. I questioned myself thinking, 'Did he really score 2 goals?? Im almost 100% sure he did!!??'

Then the 5th game came up and i scored 1 goal with Rooney. Once again I looked at the top goal/assists. Rooney now had 11 goals. Justice was done, however this is something which needs dealing with desperatly!!


If playing the last game of the season and there's a 2 goal seperation from top and your top scorer. This could be the difference between having an extra 2,000 points or 0 points. (sorry not sure if 2,000 is the actual figure if you win top goal scorer!!)

I have to agree, I got the game a week ago. Been on 5 stars, and I am still learning with the game, I used to score to easily on PES4 on 6 stars, even with crappy teams. Now on 5 is so much more difficult, maybe it's just me getting crap. But I hope I can get used to the game soon

Yup, even though I had found the gameplay a little different when first playing I could see exactly why it was implemented this way.

The way that football is played today is all about posession, formations, and strategy. Alan Hansen or Andy Gray, can't remember who it was now, got it spot on when either one of them said it's the midfield that wins you games, whatever team wins that crucial midfield battle will eventually come out on top at the end of the 90 minutes.

That's what Konami have put their emphasis on in this version - that crucial midfield battle that decides the victor.

this is def def true....i have been cursing myself with playing goal less games for so many many games.....started to tweak my tactis played super attacking formation but was passing patiently trhoughout the whole game and only go for the killer ball when theres a chance...other than that,the comp will be chasing after my ball all the time.posession is the key word in WE9 or pes5.i played we9 japan and brought them from asian qualifying all the way to world cup champions....and that whole run did taught me how to beat the giants e,g italy,brazil...etc
im back playing liverpool in league season and enjoying myself again.....it sure is addictive....next challenge master league!
