First GTA4 News...*UNCONFIRMED*

Make of this what you please, could be bullshit, could be true.

Bilal Ayub on xbox.com forums said:
Grand Theft Auto 4 the first game by Rockstar Games on Next Generation consoles is set to be blown open in the February issue of the Official Xbox Magazine. The first screenshots will appear in the publication as well as first news on the location.

Grand Theft Auto IV uses the RAGE engine which was first used in the Xbox 360 exclusive Rockstar Games Present Table Tennis. An optomized engine is running on the PS3 to its strengths too.

The games has now lost its old cartoony graphics from the PS2 days. Everything looks realistic from the weapons to blood and gore effects.

There has been no let-down in the violence. The game has gone on a complete new makevoer and looks almost too realistic. Blood drips off walls, and onto your shoes and clothes.

A new feature envolves the use of cleaning your clothes at a dodgy laundrette to prevent forensic investigator getting too close.

The game may be rated AO Adults Only, but that is yet unconfirmed.

The game takes place in Carcer City, once again in America.
According to Sam Houser he states that Carcer City will be the largest game world ever created.

There will be no demo of the game on the XBLM or PSN.

Game is set on target for release.

First videos will appear online during May, also with a website.

Online Multiplayer confirmed for both Xbox Live and Playstation Network: Deathmatch, Gang Warfare, Job classes, Clans/Gangs, Vehicles to be used. No mention on player numbers. Extrmeley tight lipped about the subject.

More info in the Feb 2007 issue of OXM.

Well true or not, aside from naming Carcer City as a definite, the article doesn't say much that wasn't already obvious. Better graphics and still gory. I never expected that!

My god am I looking forward to GTA IV, though.

I love the GTA series dating back to when I got the demo on the PS1 in about 1996. They have came along way obviously and just keep getting better and better. Number 4 along with Halo 3 are the games I am most looking forward to now. I can not fucking wait I tell thee.

Human After All
One of the few games that actually grab my attention :)

Is this even going to be on PS2 at all? If not I'll have to buy PS3 just to get this.

Which is not going to be financially possible in the near future :(

Dunno to be honest Teekay, they'll probably stop making games for the PS2 and Xbox altogether pretty soon. I'm just looking forward to seeing what the online mode is gonna be like. Just imagine a GTA Gang Deathmatch! Chasing motherfuckers round the city with baseball bats and uzis!

GTA San Andreas = 17 square miles
The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall = 161,000 square miles

Sam Houser is a liar.

Sam Houser is a liar.

indeed, i have TES II Daggerfall, and it is estimated that it is twice the size of the U.K.

He wasn't talking about GTA:SA though Sweey, he said GTA4. ;)

I think Sweey meant that - with reference to the statistics he provided - the necessary increase in size from SA to IV to realise Houser's claim would be phenomenal, if not impossible to achieve.

I'm fine with having a bit more space, but I'm far more concerned about the depth of detail, i.e. having more usable and interactive internal areas/building fronts etc. Increasing the playable area of GTA IV to a greater size than Elder Scrolls would be utterly useless, and no doubt incredibly boring.

i coudnt agree more, making the environments more interactive should take a greater prority than increasing the landmass itself.

am looking forward to the graphics if 2 days to vagus is anything to go by.
me myself could not care about the map size, id be happy with a san and size map if the mission where good, and there interactivity with in the maps good.

Yeah, i agree with you there. The San Andreas area was big enough for me, so i'd be happy if they had the GTA4 map a similar size, just allow us to have more interaction with buildings and the environment as a whole. Better AI for your recruited gang members wouldn't go a miss either, pissed me off the amount of times they got stuck on walls etc.

Would be the best game of all-time if it weren't for the large number of bugs associated with such a ridiculously sized, yet wonderful game world. If only it worked right these days

I've come back to San Andreas after eighteen months - and if you consider I got it on PC, I clearly didn't play it much. Enjoying it too :). We (PC users) have another long wait for GTA4. I refuse to buy it on a console.

I reckon San Andreas was reasonably big-although after 2months or so you had the map sussed...I reckon if they made this game 2/3 times the size of San Andreas it'd be perfect, although I dont want them to make it like True Crime where the map is enormous yet every building/street looks the same!

they have far more space to work with with the PS3 compared to XBOX 360...since Bluray is capable of 25GB of disc space-GTA 5 will be the biggest thing ever because I bet they'll exploit the whole 25GB and xbox will be made to look daft

cant wait til October for GTA 4 though:D will be truely amazing!
