That's true.
One thing I would say is that if you loved the demo, the review scores aren't gonna make much difference to you - whether it got a 5/10 or a 9/10, if you loved the demo you should buy the game.
I can't recall saying they were broken, although I may be wrong. I did say that demo 1 was excellent and that I was disappointed with the demo 2 ammendments. I was wrong. Demo 2 has ironed out all the minor issues and player individuality is still there. Also, I was initially more impressed with the FIFA changes. But like I say, it's taken a good prolonged session or two for me to see the depth that PES has to offer and the general sameness of FIFA.
If I'm wrong I'll hold my hands up. I jumped the gun this year. In well over 50 games of PES now, I really do think it's an exceptional representation of football.

The only 2 niggles i have at the moment are not being able to go into 50/50 challenges with the keeper (Sometimes it would be easier for the player to win the ball. But then the striker goes into limp mode). And the ref waiting to blow the whistle for a foul, depending on who the ball goes to. Apart from this, Im fairly happy.

You know if pes 2013 had got shit scores everyone would be saying the same thing. Fifa always gets top marks when reviewed , does it deserve these high marks ?, not a chance.
I have learnt now to go on user reviews only for any game, the mags and websites can't be trusted. Saying that though it is very nice to see pes getting some positive reviews for a change.

It can be a bit beguiling as well. I simply stayed away from FIFA for the longest time because of the constant barrage it received. Then played and found I liked it. But I was easily swayed from PES2012 and may have not been as much from 2011.

You can look at these reviews from two points of view.
View #1: If PES2012 got 8/10, then surely PES2013 have to be worth more, because it's so much better in the gameplay departement that the same score is just simply a mockery to the site's integrity.
View #2: PES2012 must surely have been overrated, as 8/10 is a very good grade, and PES2012 is in all honesty not a very good game.
I think 8/10 is fitting for PES2013, at least if the PC demo is anything to go by. By all means, you clearly have a different opinion but that's just an opinion as well. Your opinion is not any more or less worth than anyone else's, and you don't need to repeat it over and over.
OK, so you're a moderator, and you're complaining about Makavelian and other people not making a "valid contribution" to the thread... I just looked at you "latest posts" and I didn't really see any valid contributions from you on the first page of threads, just a whole lot of whining, bitching and sarcasm to be honest... so would you please either practice what you preach or shut up about it?
I was the same with FIFA 12 with everyone dissing it but I actually liked it not as much as I liked pes 12 mind you but what I found was when I got a bit bored of pes I moved on to FIFA and played that for while until it annoyed me then went back to pes. I'll be doing the same this year too tho I'll wait for FIFA to come out as a 2nd hand copy otherwise its 100 euros for the 2 games!!
Just to prove how pointless reviews are I read 1 on the metro paper there they gave it 7/10 and all they said were the only cons were the licenses and the commentary! As bad as the commentary and license issue is they have nothing to do with the actual gameplay which they said was outstanding!!

sure, they were using the industry standard, -1.5 for commentary, -1.5 for licenses
so by their account, PES will never score higher than a 7 even if the best gameplay known to mankind.

Many reviewers give a negative to the lack of license but it isn't Konami's fault. Reviewers should know that EA has those rights tied up.

I honestly dont think they could. EA's sport budget is massive - just look at the money they pump into Madden they saturate the shit out of the market with that game.- fast food, music videos, commercials, they even sucker ESPN into using it for analysis on pregame shows FIFA money is peanuts in comparison.

Oh I would agree, I would just love to know what that price tag is and what percentage of the total cost or percentage of profit it costs them. EA suckered ESPN into FIFA during the Euros as well. and BTW, Madden is turning into a disaster this year. Each time I am done with a game it shuts down my PS3. People are livid. In addiition, I hope the game modes they stole from us doesn't bleed over into FIFA13

Just because I'm making criticisms about the game, does not mean it's not a valid contribution.
If I was to give the game a score, based PURELY on the demo gameplay, I would give it a 6.5/10.
I still don’t think the gameplay is as good as people make it out as, even so this is gameplay we should be getting a game like this in 2008. Also, the niggles that frustrate me is the freedom of the ball when passing, dribbling and shooting – it feels locked and pre-programmed which can lead to scripting. I’m enjoying it though as it is a big improvement over 2012 so I will be getting it within a week of release

Abu, I am in the same boat as you on this one. The game feel outdated, but somehow, I still find some enjoyment out of it unlike in Pes 12 and it is enjoyable enough to be played and have some fun.
Ofcourse, what you said is actually very true. Sometimes the player runs towards the ball in a pre determined way and that SHOULDN'T happen by any means. But the goal variation for one is actually impressive as I have never scored the same goal and that's saying something. Ofcourse this was on demo 2 because they toned down the through passes.
So overall, I would rate pes 13 a 7-7.5 mostly.
