Maybe. You'll love FIFA for the first three games with it's animations, slick presentation, and Impact Engine(tm). You'll think it' the best game ever in fact. You'll start to wonder just what the hell PES is doing, and you'll start to convince yourself that this is THE football game we've all been waiting for! By game five that feeling will start to subside, as you start to see a pattern in CPU scoring. You'll start to see the CPU play like Barce whether it be Burton Albion or AC Milan. You'll see the CPU same moves over and over and over again. You'll see that that the CPU constantly tries to get you one on one at the corner of the 18 yard box to simply out reflex you as they score another tap in.
As the temperature in the room rises, you'll begin to see constant 45/80+ minute goals going in all over the place. You'll begin to analyse why this is so, watch some replays and see that the CPU is moving your players about all over the shop, leaving you with a less responsive defence than normal. You'll see that unless you spend a month altering the slider settings that simply by going up the levels it doesn't make the CPU smarter just more cheaty, and suddenly you'll begin to realise that animations and Sky Sports style presentation means very little. By game ten, you'll see the effects of not having inertia, momentum, you'll see constant scripted goals, you'll see opposition keepers saving 5 or 6 one on ones as they score the only shot of the game.
At the higher levels, the simply is no contests and no duels as the CPU is programmed to win all 50/50s. The aerial game simply isn't an option and so the game forces you play everything on the deck, all the time. You'll notice that the CPU defence defend intelligently and swarm your players whilst your players stand around holding their dicks leaving the slowest defender constantly one on one with the likes of Tevez and Walcott running at them. The contain button becomes useless. The CPU possession game is mere illusion.
By game twelve or so all the glitz and glam will have faded, the excellent injury system and presentation and animations will mean jack shit, as you realise that the game isn't a life-like thing, that the ball isn't an entity on its own that can literally bounce anywhere. And as the CPU, or you, score ANOTHER 45 minute/90 minute goal, you'll want to take the disc thing out of the drive, snap the fucking thing in two, and just to be sure, put it in the microwave, see the sparks fly, then toss it into a well of burning sulphuric acid or lava aka Terminator 2 style!
It's at this point, that you should try PES, and realise for all it's crappy animations, fundamentally and in gameplay terms, it is 100 times better than FIFA warts an all!
