a reviewer of fifa 09, his last paragraph:

Overall though, it’s a spectacular game. After years of repetition from both EA and Konami it’s great to see FIFA finally pushing things forward. From actual updating player stats (a paid-for service that is free until the end of this season) to uploadable goal replays and images, this game offers more innovation than we’ve seen in the last ten years from this genre (Euro 2008 aside) and unless Konami finally ditch Seabass, EA will have Konami in their pockets for years at this rate.

is he right? is he stupid? what a noob

hi res ps2 game aka pes 09 > fifa 09
pes 09 offline > fifa 09 offline
pes 09 online < fifa 09

online is a deal breaker for me, i live in the states and if pes online is shit, ima have to settle for less yet again :( sigh...

Fifa has too many stupid features, the default camera angle in my opinion is shocking, the freekicks are stupid and when you pass/dribble or shoot it always seems like the ball is sticking to you and when you do let it go it always feels the same and will end up the same.

FIFA is shit. Realistic yes, but to the point of it being about as fun as watching paint dry with this bloke called Alex I know (he's not very fun)

People making games, PARTICULARLY EA (with FIFA and tiger woods), are sacrificing anything fun for making it realistic. If I was asked now, whether I'd like a brand new copy of fifa 09 for the PS3, or whether I'd like to get sonic the hedgehog 2 on the Mega Drive down from the attic, it'd be no contest.

They're forgeting a good game is about fun, addictive gameplay, that makes you go, at 3 am in the morning when you have to get up for school at 8
"just one more game" when you said that before each of the last 10 games.

To be quite honest, I don't give a shit if Barnsley have a center forward programmed in who's cock is exactly the right size or whartever the fuck it is fifa do to make people buy the game, if that means the gameplay is going to be shite, leave it out.

At the end of the day, there's shitloads wrong with PES, but it's still got the charm of classic arcade games, and that's what makes it brilliant.

The moral of this story, fuck FIFA straight to hell.

Rant over.

Didn't FIFA get slated because it was unrealistic & arcadey back in the day?

The fact is that EA is trying some new stuff (which could not be said for KONAMI) and, therefore, should be credited for it. I'm not saying that FIFA '09 is better then PES 2009 but since PES6 nothing fresh didn't find it's way into PES series. The gameplay is a bit ironed, graphics are improved but the bottom line is that over the years PES is slowly losing it's appeal. I find it very likely that in not too distant future FIFA gets superior in all aspects of the soccer games genre domination.

tbh i dont see why konami and and EA dont just combine lol it would make things alot easier, and lets face it they would both benefit from the sales. i mean if they combined then konami could deal with the gameplay side of things, and EA could get the licenses and perhaps do the graphics. i know this would never happen in a million years but tbh i think it should.

fifa has too many 'wtf is my player doing u tit****' moments. I just had a 2v2 today with few mates and as I passed the ball back to my keeper, he just stood there, running circles or some**** around it and watched it go in the net. Was like WTFLOLCAT!! It's funny when there are a few peeps there having a laugh, but if you want a serious game, I suggest you stay away and stick to PES.

lol thats happened to me on fifa so many times.
plus it fuks me off when you want to play a through ball and the striker just stands behind the defence and expects you to go for goal. the ammount of times ive ran with c.ronaldo and attempted to play tevez in and all he does is just stand there while vidic runs past him, is just unbeleivable.

Nah because then we'd end up with a game that's even worse than the 2 current ones we have. Think about it. In terms of football gaming, it's pretty much an oligopoly (if that) so if the two rivals combined, there would be no competition and therefore less effort which would mean a poor game.

yeah i see were your coming from, but i mean it does seem as if konami is slowly giving up to EA.
tbh i dont really blame em, i mean in terms of features and season mode, fifa wins hands down. but in terms of gameplay pes just pisses all over fifa, thats why i think they should combine. but like i said that will never happen, and i suppose it would make an even worse game due lack of competiton. lets just hope that in 2 years time th FA decide to give a licensed contract to pes lol maybe that might give them a kick up the backside to start making a bigger effort.

People seem to forget that there aint much to football. It doesnt matter how jazzy you make the game look or how many "features" you add, it still comes down to 22 men and a pigs bladder. There is not going to be a major difference between newer versions of the game as football itself is static and unchanging.

That's the problem see.

PES fans who played both later versions of the games on the PS2 would say PES was the realistic representation of football and Fifa was the arcadey kind of game. Now on PS3, the tables have turned and Fifa are now all of a sudden "too realistic," whereas PES's arcadey approach is actually liked because it's "fun".

Annoying.

fifa gets close to finding that sweet spot where the game plays beautiful, and once they finally do, what will pes have? champions league license! :fplm:
