Freddy adu is not a winger, he is a pulled back forward(secondary striker) or a very offensive midfielder in teh dead center.
His strengths are passing, as he has a very good left foot, with nice air through balls, and cheeky backheels and ground through balls. He can also shoot and dribble. He is pretty quick, but i dont like to just single him out for his dribbling. He brings to the table something that you see in latin america, a player that can dribble, but score and set up goals.
He is sort of what you see out of a classic '10'. I have confidence that with time he could be something great, as that position is really dying out.
All you guys see is his dribble, or lack thereof. That is not so important, but it is his passing and soccer intelligence that you guys are missing out on. With the U20 team in the U20 WC he played extremly well, why? because he knew all his players, they knew how he played and they feeded off each other. He was their setup man for the whole tournament, and their main reason for success(him and Alidore). He potential can be a world class player, right up there with Claudia Reyna and Tab Ramos(comparison to US players with his similar talents), who both are comparable with what freddy brings to the table. He can have as much if not more success, if he can just find a manager that likes him for what he is, and gives him time to spread his wings like he has with the US Mens National Team.
Also similar to what Klinnsman is doing with Landon Donovan at Bayern.
That is my point. Watch these clips of all his touches Vs. SPain in a Friendly, and vs. Argentina(more so Spain as he played most of that game vs. Argentina where he was a late sub)

Also as a Bonus vs. the Netherlands lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM4RXJT48Yg
Tell me he doesnt have potential.
