I practiced free kicks in the training menu.
As you might have figured out by reading the command list, there are multiple ways of taking the free kick.
Very slow kick, slow kick, hard kick, very hard kick, depending on wether you press forward or backwards while shooting, and/or not press O or triangle.
Depending on the situation, you choose one of them...

When you mastered the above shots, you can start practicing on curling balls. Try aiming outside the goal, but when pressing shoot, also press on the side you want to ball to go most... Those goals are the best thrills you'll have. Especially against a mate that's sitting beside you! ;)

it might kill you to try but, get Gerrard as your kicker and make it so another person stands by the ball(R2 L2, i think) then hold L1 And press X, This will put a ball in frount og gerrard then just tap SQUARE and put a little direction on it, i score 8 times out of 10 with this,

Adrinano (Inter) Is also good for this

I have practised alot of free kicks and find this helpful

29m out, just left of center.

Aim just left of center.

push shoot on its own no other buttons.

let the power gauge get to a little bit over halfway and hold RT or R2

imediatley press Up and left on the direction button and hold Y or Triangle just before he strikes the ball

watch it fly into the top left corner.

I tend to do this with C.Ronaldo. This technique makes the ball Dip and curl so much.

As all PEs-games, there is no consstancy... So u can never really train urself for a 100% goal rating. All u can do is follow the tips LFCPower gave u with a good Free Kicker (high shotpower, high shot acc. and swerve stats)

Select the best player in your team by checking the free kicks accurcy and te swerve ability which are the most important points then its where is your freekicks positon if its so close to the 18yrd line
then i recommend to use {O or (B) 50% + up}
if its far ball then i think what been written above is really helpful

sometimes try too keep its simple only aim toward the shortest guy in the wall
(of course if he in good position for scoring) then press square(X) 40% in power gauge

when you get used of it you will find it easy especially in pes 2009
just need practice and time

Great thing to know about busby seo test.

yeah why not but sure it depends on the positon of the f.k

even you in that case dont have to play it as a direct f.k use 2 players by pressing LB+RB ..then press LB+A to move the ball to other player then release them and prss X to shoot
that maybe easier than direct one

one way i do, is to hold 'O' with down to make the freekick taker just bang the ball, 9/10 times it works for me, but it has to be done within 30m

Here are some good takers to try out: Ronaldinho,gerrard,figo,pirlo,adriano,juninho,ronaldo... and some others.... when shooting a free kick at close range hold down the down button and hold the basic pass button e.g A xbox X ps3 and shoot into a quarter of the bar and itll dip nicely... just keep trying

Well, funny you talking about free-kicks, because when me and my brother (Ghost) played PES 3, he always did it a lot better, but could only score a goal... And then, in the end of the games, I would make a nice move through the field and he had no alternative but to be a little agressive. :) Then, I would score the free-kick, and put the score back to square one. xD I never found it difficult to score, but it depends on the game. If it is PES 3 xD, PES 6, PES 2009. There isn't a way that is 100% goal, like a user said, but there is always a technick.

Just a quick question on free kicks: I read the command list on how to swerve and hit the ball with more power. However I was wondering when do you press the directional buttons to swerve the ball? Is it when the gauge is power, or after the ball is struck? (PS2 by the way)

practice make u better mates. hehe.. but for me, using M.Petrov as a FK taker on the right side is okay.. as im using man city all the time.. he got a not really good swerve but his i think, his shot power and the swerve points he have is really comfortable.. em2!

First you need a very good free kick taker , it just won't happen if a guy sucks at free kicks , the most important is to have big swerve and free kick accuracy , this will help you get accurate and constantly good shots with good swerve.
And also he should not have alot of shot power because you will not get it past the wall and into the goal because he just has too much power in his kicks and the shot will not fall as quickly , the best power is probably around 75-85 for free kicks as I have experienced.
Secondly you need to practice with your players , they all have different free kick types as you see in edit player where you choose motions of players , and each has different positions where the shoot will go after you fire , so you need to see which player you are using and test your shot too see what position you aproximetly need to take with your player in order to get the ball into the left or right side of the goal and then always take that position.
The final thing to do is the shot itself , the power should be always just bellow half that will produce the best and accurate shot , now the way you take it is simple.

1. Press (shot button) or ( shot button ) + ( arrow down , arrow up )
Arrow up means more power , no arrow just shoot button means middle power , arrow down means less power.

2. after you let go of the shot button press the left or right arrow , wherever you want the ball to swerve in , you can also press ( pass button ) or ( trough ball button ) with arrow keys together , the pass button will provide even less power than usual and troughout button will provide more power.

And for distances aproximetly what I use with my player which has over 90 swerve and acc. and 81 shoot power

16-19m = 1.arrow down , 2.side arrow + ( pass button ) = weakest shot
20-23 = 1.arrow down , 2.side arrow = 2nd weakest shot
24-27 = 1. nothing just shot , 2.side arrow = average shot
etc...
