Gamestation review on Fifa 07, stating this is the season that Konami need to worry!

Gamestation review...

Will EA's FIFA 07 have the legs to challenge Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 6 this time around? The answer to that question looks like being a firm yes.

Of course, this version of the FIFA series is the most extensive to date with 27 leagues from 20 nations, which include the FA Premier League, Bundesliga, French League, MLS (America), J- League (Japan) and K-League (Korea). The biggest attraction of FIFA has always been the official licenses and FIFA 07 is certainly the most authentic football game on the market, with over 510 teams accurately represented with correct kits and badges, not to mention a host of real stadiums from around the world.

There is also a new intelligent AI that ensures your team on the pitch makes realistic decisions, like finding space and passing like professionals. The game engine has been completely overhauled, meaning that you now have to make decisions, employ real-world tactics and think like a footballer in order to win matches. The gameplay has been vastly improved. For example, players jostle and collide realistically while trying to win balls. The game's new ball physics accurately recreate bouncing, skidding and topspin. It is also possible to apply topspin or backspin to the ball for more creative set plays and shots. There is a much more sophisticated shooting mechanic present in FIFA 07 than in its predecessor. This gives you greater control for pinpoint accuracy. Goalkeeper intelligence is authentic, with a far greater variety of saves and deflections present than ever before. EA have even authentically captured the playing styles and signature moves of world superstars, including Ronaldinho, David Beckham and Thierry Henry.

FIFA 07 offers gamers an updated and improved Manager Mode. New to this version of FIFA is the ability to create your own club. Player values and wages have also been updated to be even more realistic than ever before. It is vital to remember that each decision you make as a manager will have a profound effect on both player performance and welfare. Enhanced CPU decisions now mean that rival managers are even more strategic in their own pursuit of trophies.

My opinion..... Bollocks!

Well all i can say is that i did buy Fifa07, now my 7 year old brother owns what was mine. They have actually improved the game though the minor tweaks soon wear off and your'e reminded it's the same old EA & same old Fifa.

My reason for buying 07 was due to the reviews from gamestation. Next time i enter gamestation someone's gonna have a sore face!:D

Not all the teams have correct kits so they're certainly talking out their arse on that one. Half of the Premiership goalkeeper kits are non-existant, just left blank. A lot of lower-league teams with the same problem, some with no sponsors either. The stadiums are inaccurate too, Old Trafford does not look like Old Trafford. If they can create Wembley and The Emirates why not 2 Quadrants ? Also the stadium itself doesn't correct with its 20 yard set back from the pitch whereas in reality the fans are about 8 yards back.

Employ real-world tactics ? I thought you couldn't really change the formation and edit players positions ? Right on! Not to mention the ball physics being as crusty as ever, bounces awful and awkwardly with curl still being ridiculously exaggerated.

LOL, chill out guys, we already know FIFA is shite compared to PES, Gamestation probably think the same, they just write that to sell it more.

Yes its better than 06 but it can no way challenge PES yet, if this trend carries on then maybe some day it'll happen.

I can see what you mean about stadiums being so wrong, When me and my mate had a match and it was at Anfield the nets were so far forward it was unbelieveable.

I bought fifa 07 and I can also vouch that although all the official stuff is great the gamplay is bollocks and its not fun to play...especially when comparing it to pro evo..I can't believe a company as big as EA can't even make a half decent footie game..and why can't Konami get official licenses? must be some legal thing...

I played FIFA 07 the other day and the curl you can put on a free kick is ridiculous, totally unrealistic.

Having said that FIFA 07 is not a bad game.
