Some people just don't watch real football. Low shots lol. If you're expecting the AI to not make chances and you just want to control the whole game then plz play another game. Goalies aren't excellent in real life, in fact they do stupid mistakes, they don't catch every shot and obviously aren't perfect, so if anything the goalies currently is just as realistic. Stop complaining. They finally did something right and people still cry over it, every little detail lol.

You do understand that this video game is programmed, and it is not real life?

There are scripted situations where the game is programmed to score, and the user goalkeeper is programmed not to save the ball. That's how video games work, I accept that, but I don't accept cheap CPU AI- most of the goals (90%+) that my team has conceded, are a result of a casual slotted shot to the bottom corner of the net. Where's the shot variety from the CPU teams? You're happy with the same scripted goals, time after time?

Is that realistic?

I tried a game on Superstar tonight and the COM team just ping ponged the ball around at warp speed. Really not realistic at all.
I find that with focus you can defend well on top player but if you make a stupid mistake and give an attacker open space around the box you'll almost always pay dearly. Which... is how it should be.

Also I can play 20 min half's and still average 12 to 15 shots on goal cause I play as Arsenal, pass around a lot and probe for that split second opening weakness.

This game really is quite an enigma!

I've found (post-patch) that 'Top Player' is a goal fest, and 'Superstar' gives me close games without crazy scorelines. I play 13 minute matches, I find that's just the right amount of time for me as I want to play multiple seasons. My biggest bone of contention is the manner in which the CPU teams score, it's so boring to see yet another shot go in that's aimed at one of the to bottom corners of the net!

It's weird how I find 'Superstar' to be easier- again, I play with full-manual settings. Apart from those contrived goals from the CPU, I am starting to enjoy the game. I scored a great goal tonight- I almost jumped up off my chair!

Your recommendation to increase the goalkeeping stats appears to be helping- I did it right across the division (all 'keepers are now at '97'). Thanks again for that advice!

Its funny how you guys keep saying the COM scores only one type of goal. I get a few types:

• Low shot when they have space directly in front of goal.
• Chipped shot when keeper is off the line.
• Curling shots when in space at the edge of the box.
• Weird angled shots when close to the by-line.

• Headed goals from crosses.
• Volleys from crosses.

I'm also on PS4 (top player or superstar) and most goals I get are from chaotic situations in the penalty area, ball rebounds from GK to the front, or rebounds from a goalpost into a striker and he scores. And the odd throughball. Haven't noticed the low corner shot thing at all...

That's weird- maybe it's because I increased the stats of my goalkeeper (and all of the others in the division)- perhaps I'll un-install (/clear the application data) and then re-install...

Exactly. For example, most of the (very few) goals I take are from confusing situations with too many opponents getting in my penalty area. That's because I prefer to have a slightly deep defence and put up with the pressure rather than a high defense and get through-ball-spammed. So goals come in from close, with the GK out of position as he himself was trying to get the ball. You should also count the other tactical options like tight/wide defence, push attackers to centre or to the sidelines, etc, the teams in the league and if they're mostly stronger, what mistakes you usually do (if you do the same mistake often, you may get the same kind of goal often)...

I could be here complaining of too many goals where the keeper saved to the front or the ball bounced off the post to a striker, very conveniently, who then scored already in the goal area... Totally different experience because I play a different way and cause different weaknesses.

For what it's worth: Most of the time my 'keeper is correctly positioned, with enough time to see and react to the ball trajectory, honestly... this game isn't perfect!

I've used 'all out defence'- pulled the defensive line back etc. etc. ad infinitum.

Style of play may make things more prevalent for certain people but if a game is made well (PES is supposed to be a sim) then you shouldn't have a glut of goals in one area of the goal. In real footy some teams are more susceptible to say headed goals or balls over the top due to their style of play or players but I'm not aware of teams being susceptible to low shots in the corner or high shots. Possibly only if there is a giant GK think Pantillimon at Sunderland. One of the hardest things for a GK is variation in shots.

To Sportgamefan: MANY people have reported this low corner shot 'spam' including youtubers such as The True Brits. So many people with lots of footy game experience are highlighting this flaw.

The bottom line is if the AI turns on the script for you to concede you concede, if the AI turns on the script for your team to play like buffoons then they play like buffoons it's as simple as that and its something you either accept or don't and stop playing.

The preventative advice regarding tactics and changes people need to make to their game do is pure nonsense - doesn't mean a thing (in relation to the above). That's the biggest problem - that and the fact so many stupid people exist.

I feel your pain, but there is a solution better than upgrading all goalkeepers. Lets not kidd ourselfs, playing with AI is boring as hell. On Top player players are retarded, cant hold the ball, but still manage to pass the ball on the wing and often score. Superstar was never fun for me and I cant understand how enyone can enjoy it. As someone mentioned before AI plays ping pong as scores, players hold the ball forever, which causes frustration.

Here is a solution. I dont know how many of you uses Pes Galaxy patch, but it contains certain game mode called Yair gameplay. Playing with the patch changes the game, and makes it more enjoyable, real life like. AI holds the ball better, and so are you. Defending is much easier, and I havent felt like I was cheated by scripting. Ball physics is slightly different, IMO better. I played only two games, and concieded once, which was completly my fault. On top of that patch offers camera customization. Goalkepper made some saves, score was only 1:0, and it was 15 minutes game. AI made 13 tackles, which is many for Pes. I think I even saw some skills. Its hard to tell about it, its more like sensation of participating in real football game, maybe its not that great, for all, but I enjoyed that 2 matches as I never did in any Pes. Both games was on Top player, as I said I never liked Superstar, just couldnt play the way I like.
I dont know if you can use that patch for PS4, or Xbox, but its a solution for PC gamers.
Online matches are just awful, I think many would agree, its no longer game of football, more like game of thoughball, so I understand that many of you is looking for entertainment in Master League etc. So try that you just might like it.

btw, earlier today, before using this mode, I played F.A Cup. In two legs AI scored against me 3 times, and eliminated me. Yeah you guessed, 3 shots on target. I know how that feels.

Since you mentioned how anyone can enjoy the superstar difficulty, I question how anyone can enjoy a difficulty below that. Some people are just not as good as others.

As I said before, ping pong passing, domination with posession (I have nothing against AI keeping the ball, but not on their own half, so I couldnt get it, without breaking my formation and leaving wings free). Other thing, if I play on Superstar I have to go forward all the time, passes through, long balls. Thats not really my style, I like play the ball around, dribble, just enjoy the game. AI is no competition to me, and most people online also are not very good. But thats a video game, for me its about having fun, not winning. Try to keep the ball 60-70% on superstar or in online game, doing something creative - Impossible. With this patch I was talkin about in my previeous post I might try superstar though, since I concieded one goal today. With couple of games in I noticed Ai trying to find the top corner, but it failed, also defensive wall jumps up when you shoot from free-kick.

Well, I scored a lot of goals, no problem with having fun in it, actually I like the challenge, playing a lower difficulty isn't fun for me. The top player difficulty is fun in ML because it changes in some games, but an exhibition match, superstar is the way to go.

The fact that people still talk about ping pong as a negative or as a thing, makes me question if these people even watch football, because the big or good teams with good players usually have the easy going passes, and they do far less mistakes than any other lower team. The fact that people wants to see a lot of missing passes, makes me think, they just want it easy for themselves. Not to forget the nonsense that people say about how it's not fair for the AI to have a lot of possession, and then ask for a harder difficulty. What the hell do you expect the higher difficulty to be? Either ways, people love to just complain about this nonsense because they want to feel better about themselves. Reality is, it's just like the real football, you don't expect some of the things to happen in a match but it happens, do people shout it's scripted. Don't tell me it's just a game, people asked for realistic gameplay, and this is the closest I ever seen a game tries to be.

I Understand that in real football is lot of passing in the back, but the thing is football game is 90 minutes long, Pes game is mostly 10-15 minutes, I dont enjoy watching AI passing the ball in their own half for 5 minutes out of ten, sometimes more. There is a problem that AI is programmed to get in my half, and then score, simple as that. And it has 3 maybe 4 ways to do it, computer isnt creative at all, possesion game reads as piss of opponent, let him chase you trying to get the ball on your half. Like Bayern or Barcelona, after all these are the best team in the world right know, and I enjoy watching them, how they play with weaker sides (almost every team in their leagues). Try some fluid formations, change tactics (Im not saying you not doing that, just an advice for people who read this thread). Everyone play the way he likes, there are propably people who set game speed on +2

If you want less passes then you need a faster speed game. Since -2 speed game obviously is not for that purpose, it's supposed to be slow and more careful/realistic, if that's not what you want you shouldn't play in that speed. What I'm sensing is that you want to have a faster pace game with less passes to the back, if that's so, stay with Zero or go above. I'm using -1 much better and more fair or balanced to me. I didn't try -2 because it might be too slow for me which is not what I'm asking, I'm happy with -1.
