Starting again in master league. First time I was Toulouse in the French league. 1st season I finished in 4th place and Toulouse had prequalified for the Europa League. I got knocked out in the elimination phase by Roma. 2nd season I quickly got to first place in the league and pretty much destroyed everyone in the Europa League. Won the Europa League and the French League in that 2nd season. Gignac becomes massive by year 2, so do Machado and Capoue. I scored an awful lot of goals in all competitions. 3rd season started and decided it was a little too easy. This is on top player.
I looked through the teams trying to find one of the worst ones to make it a real challenge. Decided on RKC Wallwijk in the Eredivisie. Toulouse started with about 18 million dollars, I think, with a player salary of about 7 million. If I remember right, they also had already upgraded all staff salaries to level 3. In contrast, Waalwijk started with 3.1 million dollars in hand and salaries of about 1.8 million. All staff at level 1. Ouch.
In my first season with Waalwijk, I didn't sign anyone. Kept the players from their team. I really struggled in the first 7 or so games, to even create a credible goal scoring chance. I decided to play around with different formations trying to gain more possession and hopefully goals. The AM's actually seemed to be better attackers than the forwards so they got moved up right behing the CF in a 4-3-3. I managed to score about 25 over the course of the season with no single person getting more than 5. Alot of scraps in the box managed to get knocked in. Managed to finish 6th thanks to my stingy defense only letting in 19 goals.
Also got to the final of the Dutch cup only to get beat by Ajax in PKs.
My little team that was hitting way above its weight started to become a disaster in the offseason. Big Euro clubs started bidding left and right for my players, dropping their loyalty hearts to broken. I had no intention of breaking up my team but when you deny their efforts to leave to bigger clubs they eventually end up heartbroken and in purple form. I tried to keep them happy but as five players ended up heartbroken I finally let them leave. :crymore: About 3 more players were teetering on the edge, denying them one more transfer request would have done it. I let them go to the next offer.
2nd season didn't start well. I didn't have any time to sign players so I bought up all of my youth team. Nobody seemed interested in signing for a small team with a small budget. I failed to win the first the first seven league games (0-6-1) and my previously stingy defense was conceding goals in the first ten minutes of every game. Kind of pissed me off since these were the same defenders and goalie from the previous season. Got knocked out of the Dutch Cup in the first game. However, I seemed to be doing alright in the Europa League. Scraped through the group stage in 2nd only to be paired with Manchester United in the first elimination phase. Held them 1-1 at home but succumbed 1-0 away. During the winter transfer break, I managed to buy an Austrian named Lampertzen. Excellent buy. He has transformed my attack. Also managed to bring in a young Belgian, De Rechter and a Swede named Engblom. Both on loan. The team feels rejuvenated.
Despite hovering near the relegation zone during the first half of the season, I have managed to pull my team to 7th with 14 games to go. Need to have midweek Europa games for the loyal fans.
