How do you get unselected players to stop slide tackling in the box?

I'm playing in a ML and I've lost about 3 out of the last 7 or 8 games by a goal because one of the defenders I don't have selected makes an awful slide tackle in the box. It is always in a completely unnecessary situation, every time it has been on the edge of the box and twice it has been when the defender I had selected already had the attacker covered, the other time the attack wasn't too much of a threat. I NEVER use slide tackle and am a very conservative player in terms of playing rough (the only cards I've received are when the CPU does something like this). How do you get them to stop?

I also find this a problem. I believe it's automatic, no one can control it.

tottaly agree defenders just come running in and take out a player and im shouting at the fucking game wot are u doing and i dont like where the trick stick is sometimes it does a skill when i havnt instructed it to and looses the ball and sometimes i forget where it is so i use the right analog stick for tricks and i forgot it manual pass on that

yeah the trick stick should go back to the way it used to be because now everyone who plays the game seems like a skilled dribbler.
i know newbies must like this because they don't have to practice at all to execute fine dribbling moves but i think that makes it that more unrealistic because it's supposed to be a skill so everyone should not be able to do it .
or at least give us the option to choose which one should be the trick stick.

its gay but nothing can be done about it. my mates hate playing me because i get penalties easy, for some reason everytime you do the dummy your opponent slides or sticks a leg out, even if player 2 has the cursor selected and presses nothing, if they dont catch me i just dive. it does need sorting.

and how come you can never seem to hit the dam ball first time, countless times i have a corner cleared to the edge of the area where a player with middle shoot is waiting, i press shoot immediatley, he takes an awful touch then the power bar goes up about a cm and if he still manages to get the shot off its pathetic!

This is one of the most annoying thing in the game. It mostly happens when the ball is about 1 meter away in front of your player's running path and you press the shoot button. So the best way to avoid this is to control the ball first before shooting, but of course that could waste the scoring opportunity when the defender/goalkeeper is rushing towards you. Not to mention it could waste the chance of scoring great volley goals.

You can configure the right stick so that it doesnt do a manual pass when you touch it. volleys are done by timing, pressing it early will result in a poor header.

the issues with the sliding in the box needs to be addressed, that said every time it has happened to me I believe I was pressing the square [] button, how about you guys?

I agree, that's the worst part of the game. The shooting response is AWFUL. In previous versions at least you could one-time it easily, but in this one it doesn't matter, every player has to take a horrible touch before he shoots, and then when he does it always gets canceled because a the defender touches him. You can't try to touch it either because then you'll lose time and the ball will get stolen. I've had countless would have been goals ruined because it is impossible to get a shot off.

I don't press the attacker in or around my penalty area. I press the two R buttons to barge them off the ball, or try to stand in their way.

As for first time shots, again, it's best to press the two R buttons. This basically takes control away from the computer and gives you more freedom.

I play on the PC with the keyboard, so that combination of buttons is difficult.

nope i checked it and i don't think it really matters if you are pressing it or not it just happens and it sucks

Yep , me too. I avoid pressing square in the box and just do pressure with one player.:ninja:
