How many seasons did it take to get promotion in ML

I was just wondering how long it generally takes people to gain promotion in ML.

I got really lucky to gain promotion in my first season this time playing top player. I was 5 points back with 2 games left. In the last game of the season I was down two points in the standings, and 2-0 at halftime. I scored two goals early in the second half to tie the game, but it wasn't enough. In extra-time, knowing if they clear the ball the game was over, I had a corner kick. It got cleared to the top of my box and Ruskin put in a driven left shot and it found the corner of the net, and I miraculously gained promotion.

I'm starting to regret it now as I've lost my first 5 games in D1. Has anyone ever dropped down after getting to D1?

no

you should be able to improve your squad a lot during the window so you definately wont go back down!

I went up first time, although I admit on Normal difficulty.

After an average start to the season, I was one of about four teams fighting for 2nd and 3rd places. I signed on loan Chris Brunt, Aaron Ramsey and Richard Garcia. Brunt was excellent (as you can see in my signature, I got him permanently and he's now my captain) and Ramsey was occasionally quality. Garcia wasn't that good. Came down to the final game, I was in a similar situation to you - I had to win (I was playing the team in 2nd - I was 4th, 2 points behind) - I won 2-1 with Ramsey getting his only goal for me in the 78th minute. So thrilling - the whole season had had it's ups and downs.

And don;t worry about D1 - I bunked the difficulty to Professional and made the Masters Cup - this season I shoulda gone up to Top Player, but I am still on Professional, and now challenging with Liverpool for the top spot - and as you can see from my signature, I haven't made particularly impressive signings.

personally i just start in d1. its more difficult as you're playing top teams and trying to stay up and you get more games which means more points up for grabs and more games for players to develop

I'm not that sure it's harder, purely becase on PES, it's a lot easier to play for a draw than it is to go for the win - so in the top league, it's quite easy to avoid being in the bottom three, out of 20, while in the second division (as long as all the teams aren't Cluj, etc) it's harder to be in the top 3 out of 12. Plus, with starting in D1, as you say, you get more experience and points.

I just about got promoted in my 1st season. And in the 1st half of the season in div 1 I struggled big time (play top player through out). Was near the bottom after 10 games and struggling to score anything. Started to win the odd 1 and scrape draws till the transfer window opened. I brought in a few players in and everything clicked and won the league.

Went up at first attempt with my created Partick Thistle team using the default players. I won and FC Copenhagen lost on the last day of the season for me to sneak up by a point!

In my Celtic ML Story I got up 1st time with 3 games to spare. I find the transfers in season 1 a nightmare to get right. Once promoted, you can strengthen the team no end.

you obviously started with exhibition line up, quite embarassing that you struggled in D2. Everyone else on here started with the crappy default players, which is why it is an acheivement to gain promotion at 1st attempt

You quite obviously talking bollocks then. If you look back to those who show their team on here and a lot of them have started with the normal players. You found it easy cause you started on regular, me top player all the way so keep your beef to yourself.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I got promoted in my second season with PES United. I won the D1 league and cup on my first go and it looks like I'll be winning the European Cup first time round, too.

i've found it harder, whenever i've started in d2 i always get promoted first season but theres not enough games for my young players to develop to their full potential when just seems like a waste to me. i've found starting in d1 much harder playing teams like barca and real madrid (who i beat 2-0 for my first win of the campaign!!! :w00t go gutierrez, lost every other game against the top 4 teams though) also as you tend to lose quite a few games, you're team popularity doesnt go up to c straight away like it does when you win d2 so you get more difficulty in attracting players.

I got promoted after 6 seasons with my Port Vale custom team on top player.
Perhaps that seems a little long, but, I used only default and young players and developed them.
So now I think I have a team thats capable of holding its own in Div 1,without spending hardly any points on players.

I started with all on hardest (jajaj bla bla im awesome) and default players, finished 7th first season, got a couple of half decent players and finished top in season 2, team popularity rose to c and obtaining players with a small amount of skill became easier, 8 seasons in now my team is basically completed. No, you shouldn't drop down from DV1 its not exactly hard T_T

I started a ML with the exhibition Real Madrid squad. was quite boring. after 11 league games im #1 with 11 wins and a 38-4 goal score. Top player. Decided to try with the default lineup instead on a created team. currently #4 after 16 games. should hit D1 hopefully though.
