How to dribble

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

If I flick the right stick once, he will do a funny step over, if I flick the right stick in the same direction again he will do a different step over, and so on and so on. This seems so completely fucked I don't even know what to say. How can you coherently dribble with any kind of cleverness if this is the case? It's just button bashing and getting lucky.

Can somebody please explain to me what I'm doing wrong (if anything) or is this really the case?! How on earth do you dribble properly with some sort of skill?

Even though I hate the game, I can answer this, just to prove I have given the game a fair crack on PS3... In your game on your personal settings, there will be an option about automatic feints or something like that, when you start the game, this is ticked on, turn it off and it wont do easy feints based on the way you are facing...

For a guy that has a ps3 and can't play the game, I sure do help you lot out :p

honestly though , why the *%$# are you constantly ranting about how you don't enjoy the game? If I didn't enjoy let's say , Max Payne 3 , I wouldn't be going on the forums constantly bickering about how I don't enjoy this or that, sure I'll state my opinions, ONCE and leave, but why are you constantly doing this? You aren't going to change the world my friend.

So what you're saying is I can make it harder to dribble than it already is? Not quite sure how that's going to help me but thanks all the same.

Honestly, I think you've completely misunderstood me. Turning this off won't stop my players doing what I 'd explained in the op. I'll just presume that the dribbling is a complete joke now unless somebody else has some answers.

And stop hijacking the thread people.

I dislike the fact they changed the R2 function in PES2014. I used to like using that to jostle around players and get more control of the ball, instead R2 just makes your player face towards the opposition goal... Which is lame.

However that jostle is included in just the normal movement, I found it hard to adjust to (I still have problems now and again with it), but with more practice you get better results.

I'm stopping, I'm stopping, maybe if Konami replied I would have stopped ageous ago, it's kind of a vicious circle, i report the ps3 problems to konami, they don't respond, so i come back here and moan instead, i calm down, go to konami, nothing, come here... but you're right, Konami won't listen, so there is no point, it won't change anything... I will just stick to helping others.

Damion, I'm pretty certain that will solve your issue. It's an option that allows you to perform a feint using one direction on the analog based on where the opponent is and what direction you're facing. Hence why you can do one trick at one point, then whilst pressing the same direction do another trick at another point.

I had the same thing, turned it off, and then it went back to normal skill mode, where you have to press combos to do things.

EDIT: Crap I double posted again, sorry mods.

I know exactly what your on about pal, its just alot harder to pull off tricks this year, not sure if its cos of the slower game play or the input lag but the dribble speed is now almost standing still, you have no momentum to dribble anymore, basically i think they have got normal dribble speed (when controlling the player using L stick alone) set at the slower pace, like in last years game when you held down R2 and L stick to move slowly with the ball. sorry if thats not making sense.... but i know what i mean anyway....

LS RS why cant we just use the d_pad ffs way to much to do just to turn left right up down idiots at konami its like how long do they think you have before the ball is taken off you its like street fighter controls for a football game

You can use the D-Pad to move...

i know i did but its still shit baby step movements forcing you to use RS for a feint i dont want c,mon the whe whole control system just sucks when pes13 had great responsiveness then pes14 has the turning movement positioning of an spanish football player with no legs...... grassy ass . NO FIX SHORTLY IM GETTING RID OF MY PES14 PS3 version

Yea I do agree with you, there is no middle ground between the old R2 baby steps and sprinting, where is the jogging pace? They do need to add R2 pace, normal pace and sprint pace back to the game.

I don't really understand dribbling either. In my ML game, I had my superhero short SS striker Gelpi. With him I could beat the entire enemy defense of practically any team once or twice per game. Without tricks - mostly with just sprinting. At other times I would lose the ball just like that with Ibrahimovic of all people. As far as tricks go, occasionally when I have a single defender in front of me, I try to do a trick with the LS-RS baloney. Most of the time my player does nothing and loses the ball. Occasionally he tries to do a trick and loses the ball. Once I managed to beat my defender and score a nice goal - but only once :/. This LS-RS garbage is annoying. Maybe, as the fellow above said, it's easier to do tricks if you turn off the "auto-trick" option.

How the hell do you hold the ball up? Every time I get it it gets taken off me like candy from a baby.

When receiving the ball do not press any button direction, you will hold up the ball similar to the way we used R1 in PEs2013. Also, show your back to the defender and press R1.
Hope it helps.
