This was posted by some guy on pro evo web, im just posting it here since I agree with alot of it.

"PES series have been lagging behind FIFA series in the past few years and the gap seemed to be getting further and further until last year when I had a feeling Konami had begun to finally close the gap with PES 2011 for the first time.
This year has been a massive disappointment for me as a football fan because all hope I had for PES 2012, which was simply improving on the good base 2011 had put for the series, were shattered.

Animations are absolutely abysmal.
I have no idea what happened to Konami when the next generation consoles came out, or even after PES 2010 where a large set of newly motion captured animations were scrapped but I can point out that PES 2012’s animations, dare I say, are worse than old generation PES games.
I was watching a few PES 5 matches on YouTube and I was amazed by the quality of animations back in the day and wonder why the current animations are worse than the ones released 5 years ago!
There is almost no variety in animations.
Part of football is all about watching your opponents’ movements and reacting according to them, however animations in PES 2012 don’t make any sense at all. Passing, shooting, crossing, goalkeeper and movement animations are not only limited, dated and unnatural at times, they just look wrong in a sense that, for example, ball trajectory does not follow the shooting or passing animation at all.
I don’t expect anything like FIFA’s new fancy collision system (which is shit by the way), but something worthy of a current gen console.
Is that too much to ask after so many years?!

What Konami have done this year is removing almost every good aspect of PES 2011.
While FIFA has always been the pretty game, PES is now, the senses of weight, momentum and player individuality are gone.
Player individuality has come to its worst state in the series.
One of the reasons I generally have preferred PES series to FIFA has been the uniqueness of players, capturing the sense of every stat in a more simulation-based experience.
Ladies and gentlemen, that is history in PES 2012.
Let me start by stating that shooting was one of PES 2011’s low points for me, the whole ‘body shape’ thing was lacklustre and wasn’t believable at times.
Instead of toning this down to a system that made sense, Konami decided to make sure you can shoot a rocket to the top corner with Mertesacker’s weaker foot from behind the box while he is being jostled/pressured by a couple of opponents (yes, this happens on a regular basis).
Also the German national can dribble past players at times, something he would never attempt in real life.
And pretty much every body can play precise long balls with their weaker foot.
Don’t get me wrong, I was never a big fan of elephant touches of players in PES, as some stats like ball control have been over-exaggerated in the past as well as response which has always been a bit of an issue in PES (PES 2010 anyone?), but this is rather ridiculous.

My dad was watching me play Spurs the other day and he hit bull’s eye when he asked me whether that was Messi playing for Spurs with all the mazy runs and precise dribbling skills and a classic well-placed shot far away from goalkeeper’s reach.
Unfortunately it was a player not known for any of those qualities: Benoît Assou-Ekotto!
Ball physics are bizarre.
Time was you could rely on PES to have a whacking, hefty physics model where the ball would be loaded with lead and tackles were accompanied by a gorgeous 'wumph'.
Bizarrely, distressingly, that sense of weight has gone.
The ball floats listlessly through the air with unnatural trajectory, and the physics are strangely inconsistent. The ball just behaves weirdly at times, wobbling off at an unlikely trajectory or magically picking up speed and whooshing across the turf like a greased pinball. All down to the scripted nature of current-gen PES series in my opinion.

Momentum (and hence inertia) were another of PES series’ qualities which made it closer to the real thing. Being able to run like on skates like you do in FIFA was prevented due to applying these basics of physics mechanics.
To add insult to injury, that sense of inertia is gone too. Players feel weightless, can turn easy. I play AI and it’s all run, stop, run stop.
It looks wrong; it plays bad and all in all not only captures the essence of football, it leaves you confused and frustrated at times.

Collision Detection and Player Awareness are still poor despite being improved since last year.
There are still plenty of perfect challenges that can get booked. Referees are still unsatisfactory.
Switching system and goalkeepers are still in dire need.
Passing goes to wrong players when you have two players on the same path.
Ping-pong passing, shooting, crossing is still there.
These were one of my main gripes about PES’s recent releases which strangely have not been identified, or ignored by the community.
While EA have been slowly toning down the whole ping-pong thing year after year, Konami seem to be happy to keep it. This too removes a chunk of realism from this lifeless title.
Despite various efforts by Konami since the first beta, goalkeepers are still in a terribly unsatisfactory state. Awful response to shots, the animations, the awareness.
It just adds to the terrible experience PES 2012 is.
Add all this to the fact that the game’s speed which is too fast.
It feels arcady, like an ugly, half-arsed and bug-plagued version of an old FIFA title.
All in all, PES 2012 is an arcade videogame, and a very bad one.
For me, this has got to be one of the worst PES titles to date in terms of both playability and realism and I would have been ashamed to have it released had I been the executive producer.
And anyone calling PES a simulation should seek help from a psychiatrist urgently."

I don't exactly agree with completely everything but I do agree with a good chunk of it, some parts might be just a bit overexagerated but most is true.
The biggest thing out of this wall of text for me is the mention of removal of all the good things that were in pes 2011, I agree with that and I think its not only illogical its absolutely unforgivable, what was KONAMI thinking really removing most of the good improvements made with pes 2011?
Either they really don't get our feedback or they simply ignore it because there are so many issues we reported and so many things we praised and for them to remove the things we praised and leave many issues we despised only points to one out of these two things. This is the biggest problem and this is the sole reason why PES is improving by 3 steps forward and 2 steps back every year.

Sadly FIFA is also shit but they are improving alot, this year is a lot better than last year and even tho alot of us are pes fans I think most of us will switch to FIFA in the next few years as I have a feeling they will keep improving and if the manage to listen to feedback im sure they will make a great and enjoyable game in the next 1-2 years.
PES I think will never reach its former glory unless the developer team and mainly its boss is completely removed and changed.
Without listening to the fans and our feedback they will never make a good game for us, its useless.
Hope im wrong but I have officialy lost every faith I ever had in this KONAMI developer team.

It was a long read but a thoroughly enjoyable read, yes there is some hyperbolic criticisms in there but he makes his opinions clear as to where he feels the shortcomings are. I for the record still haven't bought nor played the release copy of PES2012. I am playing it Saturday at a friends so I'll be back to compare my feelings of the game against the Pro Evo King poster.

it reads like the player uses all assists. as on manual you don't always make precise passes especially with the weaker foot. and through balls this year are far harder to do than 2011.

i will agree that online can feel very arcady when players have full assist. and it does not matter what version of Pes or FIFA the COM will always be able to pass perfectly on harder settings

Doesn't the fact that endless bashing threads and posts keeping popping up tell us something?

On a PES fan site?

Where there is smoke there is fire and all that?

Are all these people really wrong and just moaning about nothing?

Agree with it all...
especially the parts about all players having Messi-like dribbling skills, the WEIGHTLESSNESS, the SKATING feeling and the overall unsatisfactory feel of the game.
The animations are also awful. just run with a player on the ball and look closely at his feet ! or rotate the left stick 360 degrees, or flick it and have a laugh !

One of pes 2012's biggest problems.
Totally agree.
Embarrassing some shit that i'v seen.

Thank you dude...finally someone agreed with this ;)
Those issues have rendered the game nearly unplayable for me....I am, unfortunately, thinkin of going back to previous iteration...sigh

funny thing is, someone on another thread calls this "High Responsiveness" that brings about "Real Life Sim" and "great" feeling ! lol

I've got the PC version and only play online (IE not against AI), so some of it I cannot comment on... But i disagree with almost everything else.
Compared to PES 2012, PES 2011 is far inferior.

I think animation is fine, and yes just for comparisons I decided to install both PES 5+6 with all the recent patches and edits etc... and frankly I don't see what people are on about. PES 2012 feels so fluid and unlike PES 2011, where players moved with lead like boots and couldn't outrun other players unless you had speed merchant card (even with walcott or someone), it feels like you have more freedom of movement, and its great to finally control players like you want them to.

Also individual players feels... individual.

I got no idea what the post is talking about Mertesacker doing what is described. As i posted, I do not play vs AI but online, that couldn't happen unless the defending player was terrible.

Shooting for me is fine too

In regards to this... 'weightlessness' I don't understand, I don't experience anything like this.

I would like to see fouls given when your player is stumbling and I would like the return of referees going back to book a player, which seems to have been left out of the last 3,4 installments.

And if you want to talk arcadey, go look at some of the videos of Fifa 12 with players like Dani Alves taking everyone on doing roulettes, step overs, ronaldo chops left, right and centre past everyone including the keeper, its ridiculous. I bought FIFA 12 when it came out and after a week had to get rid of it because it was such pants.

Brilliant OP, couldn't have said it better myself...100% ARCADE

For crying out loud, a game in 2011 where players can kick the ball 180 degrees directly behind them without even a hip swivel. Crossing the ball facing the sideline, etc. I thought games like this stopped being made in 1990.

To all the complainers;

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE FREE DEMO BEFORE YOU BUY THE GAME.

Yes you can.....and then you can find out that they are nothing alike.

:bravo:

Are you freaking serious? Calling Animations where the ball goes TROUGH player's feet all the time, where you pass the ball 180 degree behind with power, where the running looks like skating, where the feet move TROUGH the grass when moving like skating FINE.

lol.

Also individual players feels... individual.

As I said I don't agree with everything 100% and the described is overreacted but you seriously think theres much individuality? PLEASE get a grip, a player with 60 or 80 dribble accuracy/ball control will have almost the same ball control and length of touches, which is absurd btw even someone with 60 DA can dribble with the ball so he makes 1 touch per 1 step at sprinting speed lol. Shooting, Passing everything lacks individuality as I can hit the goal 9 times out of 10 with someone who has 70 Shooting Acc... I can also make great passes with someone who has shit passing stats but ok I can let that slide since I don't use assistances but still..
The only thing that seems to make more difference this year actually is speed so gratz, speed is the only thing that feels individual.

I would like to see fouls given when your player is stumbling and I would like the return of referees going back to book a player, which seems to have been left out of the last 3,4 installments.

Refs need major improvements not only that, they give red cards for silly almost no call slide tackles and yet they give no card or yellow card for some awful ones..

But my biggest gripe is that they NEVER EVER give you a yellow card for a NON slide tackle foul no MATTER if the guy steps on you or pushes you in a counterattack or even if your on a break and he fouls you with a non slide tackle its no card FREAKING ABMYSAL if you ask me.

Which version do you play? PC or PS3/XBOX360? I heard thats a common problem on the console versions. Can't say I've noticed it on the PC version.

Get a grip? Thats ridiculous to say someone with either 60 and 80 DA/BC have the same touch quality. YOU should get a grip. You're telling me that the default MLO team has the same quality ball control as someone with 80 ability etc?
Nope, basic controlling, sure, as most footballers in real life know how to control it, but in terms of quality of taking it down, dribbling, theres a big difference between a good ball control player and one who has not.
In terms of your shooting accuracy, do you play online or not? Again theres a big difference between low end accuracy and higher end.

Refs need major improvements not only that, they give red cards for silly almost no call slide tackles and yet they give no card or yellow card for some awful ones..

This to an extent I agree with, there should be a card for persistent fouling. Again as i said previously, I'd like to see refs pulling play back or handing out a card after it goes into touch.

You obviously have not paid much attention at all.

I suggest you do this simple test:

Make 2 exactly the same players but one with 70DA and 90SA the other with 70DA and 90SA

Now thats a 20 point difference, the difference should be HUGE and yet its barely noticable.

After you did this go to training mode and

1. Try to shoot towards the goal 20 times from similar positions with both players, if there is a big difference between the two of how much the ball goes on target come back and post here, I assure you that you won't.

2. Sprint with the ball on a straight line with both trough half the field, save both replays and then compare how far the guy kicks the ball when he sprints, again you will see the difference is little. But the most horrible thing here is not that its so similar the most horrible thing is that even a guy with 95 dribble accuracy has the ball so close when he sprints its ridicilous, even Messi in real life would probably only sprint with around 85-90 DA.

With all due respect.......What the fuck???!!! ;)

If that's the case, where's my freedom to bicycle kick 1-2 passes between my centerbacks all the way down the field until one scores??

Seriously though....

The problem is not attempting to do ridiculous things. The problem is attempting them and not having ridiculous consequences. Rather, attempting them and having them come out perfectly fine....in better words; arcade football.

you can't do 1-2 bicycle kicks because konami are trying to make a fair balance between individuality and player personality
