They are getting pushed down because the thread was removed as a sticky, perhaps in the hope it would bomb and that people would forget how bad pes 2009 is, sorry, not going to happen.

In many cases, its the guys who played it from day one that are most upset, as they have seen the transition of the game since the late nighty's.

We;re still here posting because of our love for Pro Evo over the years. It's not easy to just walk away and leave it, we need to vent our frustration.

It was removed as a sticky as there were too many sticky threads in this section and this particular thread didn't really need to be a sticky. Also, don't triple post.

Finally after looking around the forum, it says it all. People slagging off Fifa without having played it properly, yet when we start talking about ways to improve pro, so many of those improvements are already in fifa.

-Better player movement
-Better Player animation
-More in depth master league
-More licensed teams etc.

ISS PRO- PES 6 was the best no question, but some posters are in such denial and just flat out lying to themselves, if PES 2009 was fifa, the PES boys would be shitting themselves at the poor movement, lack of teams and scripted games.

And if FIFA 09 was PRO 2009 we'd be talking about Pro moving to another level.

I dont think they're in denial, i just think that they play in such a simple way that pes2009 suits them more...(basic old fifa ways)

there is a twinkle about pes2009 sometimes when you play, but its not long, the cpu will just take it away when it decides what to do...!!!

I really wish i could just sit in a room with seabass, talk about the 'game' and explain that football is more than just a game....

Ignoring the fact you think that those who like a varied and more realistic football experience are 'simple', you have made an interesting point about Konami seeing football as a game rather than a sport. I agree that you can see that in the Master League mode, and the editability of the game - it has an arcade feel to it around the edges, although I don't think the gameplay is arcadey.

If Konami sees football as a game, I would be inclined to say EA see it as a marketable franchise - remember all the bollocks around the "trick stick" etc? However, when something has business interests at its heart, you know they are gonna be very receptive to what it's audience wants - that's why FIFA has made rapid progress. It's not better than PES yet, but I have a suspicion they are more likely to improve at a rapid rate.

I think Konami have made it more about the 'business' and lost the passion, where as fifa already had the business and are tryin to make it more about the passion

Maybe. I haven't seen that much by Konami to hint at them going more business - the same hasn't changed drastically for years.

With FIFA, they have tried to replicate passion, but it feels synthetic, like when you see a club's billionaire owner in a cheap scarf - it's okay, but doesn't feel right. That said, they are putting a lot more passion into it than Konami.

Totally agreed, but its funny how people are kidding themselves PES is actually going places, esentially its the same game now, that it was about 5/6 years ago, it hasnt moved on.

Another year on and people are still asking for the same old improvements which are rarely ever added. Its no consequence Fifa took over on the turn of next generation, because EA used the more powerful consoles to implement the things we have been asking for on pro for a while now.

Still cant understand how any living breathing mammal can think PES 2009 represents a realistic game of football, let alone a more realistic one than fifa, im not a fifa fanboy, I just love good football games, the player movement and animations are far more advanced in Fifa, even seabass himself admitted he would take the player animations from Fifa I think, and yet people (that havent played both properly) still wanna pretend pro is still just that little bit ahead.

If PES 2010 is a huge huge improvement then ill praise it to the hilt, but it has a huge mountain to climb, personally, i dont ever want to have to play a game which doesn't let me weight a pass, or properly place a penalty or allow me full player movement, has an old stale career mode which has remained unchanged for years and a game with a retarded AI in which its only response to being outplayed is to chase the ball around at 100mph hacking down down whoever has it, then running and shooting.

And thats what pes 2009 plays like.

its a shame really cus i have absuloutly loved pes and i know how good it could be, it breaks my little heart sometimes...its old skool and football always moves to the new skool...

i really think that football games need to develop their own controllers too, its hard to imagine but its the only way for human players to get more control..

I got FIFA 09 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't think it had the 'feel' of PES. I've been playing since ISS on the SNES and I've found previous FIFA games to be so bad as to be mostly unplayable. FIFA 09 is in a different class though. EA have worked and worked to make what was an awful experience now something quite impressive. After a couple of games, watching your team holding up the ball and stringing passes together is very enjoyable, and the satisfaction of placing a shot and watching it go to the right spot in the net is awesome!

So after a week or so, I went back to PES and I have to admit I was pretty shocked by the AI. The ball moves so much nicer in PES (for the most part) and there's a much better 'feel' to it, but the AI is shockingly bad, to wit:

Slide tackles from players you aren't controlling leading to penalties, red cards etc are awful. I've managed to cut down the amount of times this happens by switching players before the tackle but since the AI seems to randomly pick which player you're switching to, this is by no means guaranteed.

The ref has a real tendency to interfere with play, he frequently collides with off-the-ball players!

The pinball effect on the ball physics. I hope people understand what I mean by this, I don't how to describe it more accurately. For example, the way the ball rebounds off keepers and to the feet of a striker while the defenders are running into each other or how you can put a tackle in on a player like Torres, Lavezzi etc and they simply bounce back onto the ball and away!

The AI control of defense - the CB almost always moves out of the box to tackle a winger, leaving you with the choice of switching to the CB and moving him back into position and then leaving the winger to whip a cross in, or leaving a couple of yards for the opposition CF to plough through (not much of a problem against the AI admittedly, but an easy way to give goals to a human opposition)

The GK. Dear Lord, the GK! Huge gloves, loves palming it away into the path of oncoming strikers and then lying on the goal line as if he's been shot. Or helpfully making an 'O' shape with arms and legs for the CF to shoot through!

The tendency of world class strikers to consistently put the ball straight at the keeper, or not use their other foot to place it, and skying it into the crowd. Luckily this actually works in my favour since it keeps my opponent from scoring plenty of goals that in FIFA would be straight in the back of the net.

The moving and passing: how many times have you had a nice through ball waiting to put through from midfield, or a short pass to your playmaker, while running forward, only to watch the ball travel towards your CBs? Manual passing can alleviate this to some extent, but not enough. For my money this is the single worst flaw in PES, and the one that needs to be rectified most quickly. There are steps you can take to work within the limitations of PES' AI but it is quite frankly retarded to watch, for example, Gerrard play a ball back to Carragher when Torres (in whose direction he's moving and facing and in which direction the stick is therefore being held) is in a great position between the CBs.

It's easy to say, for example, you need to play the game more etc etc, but that's not really the point. Professional footballers are not children or idiots, and that's what the AI makes them out to be. You can work with what you're given and have a really enjoyable experience after putting in the graft, but to not have something simple like a pass work is pretty dire. It's not hard to rectify, FIFA have managed to do it!

ive just played 4 hours straight online with my m8 on fifa with liverpool and its was so good. We played ranked matches in the same fuking room together! Take that konami. The players feel just like their real life counter parts aswell, alot more than pes. Also i noticed that in 4 hours we had 1 (yes 1) match where there was any glitching atall, of any kind and it only lasted 2 mins and even then all it does is freeze so you dont have waaping players etc.

Theres loads of things online aswel to do. Weve set up an online league for me and my m8s to exclusivly play in which is sweat and i can play as liverpool and help them move up the table in the interactive league. Not to mention there's online tournaments organized by EA to take part in and more! Ive been playing it for a month intensivly and i love it more than i did when i first got it so fuck you to everyone who sais it gets boring.

yes FIFA is golden this year.

konami imo cannot compete with FIFA online. the only things they can improve on is accuracy of player stats and a much more indepth and better master league + single player campaign. also fix any gameplay annoyances such as goalkeepers and the fact the keepers are so robotic in animations when distributing the ball... then people will come back.

simply put, they HAVE to build a solid game. the lack of liscencing is really going to start hitting PES sales now because Adidas Live seasons [for me atleast] is what makes people keep coming back to FIFA each week.

PRO EVO 9 is the worst effing thing konami has ever done.

- Retarded AI: check.
- Here's a hint Konami: MAKE YOUR PLAYERS MAKE THROUGH RUNS GGGGARGH. There is NO WAY to score apart from trick your way through or balls over the top BECAUSE NOBODY EVER MAKES FORWARD RUNS. You'll have someone running onto a ball and his closest teammate RUNS STRAIGHT TOWARDS YOU so you have ZERO options. No overlaps on wings, nothing. Yes I've tried all the arrows
- Cheat mode on, not as bad as PES2008 but still cheating there nevertheless. (super computer mode ACTIVATE). Hit the post 4 times in a row, no problems. Computer scores on first meaningful foray, of course!!!
- Ricochet? if its off your player it will go directly for computer player. However if off the computer, it ALWAYS traps the ball.
- Your players are retarded receiving the ball, computer can run in FROM BEHIND and take it off you. If you do the same, FOUL
- Don't even talk about aerial 50-50s, guess who always wins (even with super cancel).
- Every computer team plays EXACTLY the same way. Even crappy 2nd division teams play like Barca. Goalies and CBs fake around you. THey NEVER lose the ball or go for an ambitious pass, you have to run at them like dogs every single time. there is ZERO variation

No fun, impossible AI that gives you NO FORWARD RUNS and no through ball options, always lose 50-50s esp. aerial, nerfed crossing (esp. compared to 2008... what is with the LAME low crosses).

PES has been getting worse since PES6 and this is the last straw for me unless PES2010 turns out to be the greatest video game ever. God just thinking about it makes me angry...

AI is the root of their problems

I agree. The AI is really retarded. It spoils your mood when playing.

I won't play again WE2009. Bye WE2009. It is up to you to believe me or not. All my friends, they are all already play Winning Eleven for more than 10 years. They all just like me, dissapointed and angry with WE2009. They decided to stop playing WE2009 anymore. Konami really has screw up this game. Most of us reaaly can not accept he fucking bastard stupid AI. The AI Really has spoil the game, kills the fun.

From the facts that Konami is losing their business, we can understand that most of Konami's fans have leave Konami. There must be a reason. And for me, One more time Konami make silly game like this, bye bye. We are not as stupid as your designed AI.

The biggest thing for me is to improve online play... PES is (in my opinion) still more FUN to play than FIFA, but they really need to get the online fixed otherwise I will not be buying it next year.

Finally more and more people are coming around to the fact that Fifa kicks Pro Evo's ass this year. I understand entirely that it's hard for many to accept, and some will always be happy in their little Pro Evo bubble. Afterall, Pro Evo HAS been a lifestyle for millions of people, including myself, for many a year. But for those who REALLY just want to play the best football simulation around there's only one way to go now, and it's Fifa.
