Hi Pro Evo Players

I have a bad feeling that next years version is just going to be another small update by konami. Reading the posts and forums there is a lot of pissed of people and you cant blame them they bought the game. Now the FA are joining not allowing there stuff to be used in the game. I would say all the FIFA fans are laughing their ass off. Have any of you guys any comments on this maybe konami will make a brilliant game but the way its going with this pro evo I really dont think so......

A little premature dont you think?

Not really...the writing has been on the wall ever since the series peaked with PES3. Fair enough, Konami cited the limitations of the PS2 as the limiting factor preventing the series being enhanced. Well, we now have 360, PS3, and of course high spec gaming PC's. So where the fuck is our super next gen Pro Ev Soccer?

Instead of delivering Konami have just churned out another lame arsed game engine tweak with slightly better graphics, but with all the same old aggravating flaws....MADE WORSE THAN FUCKING EVER BEFORE!!!

Nope, bottom line is that for me, PES2008 signals the end of an era. Konami are showing no sign of having anything special up their sleeves other than their age old trick of removing essential features so that they can re-introduce them in a later game and call it an improvement.

Roll on Sensible World of Soccer Online for the PC. Until then, I have no footie game to play.

I agree with that - unless konami read all of this and pull it out the bag next year then there are no football games to play...

Obv people arent that impressed with the game on here but we're still posting about it, im not buying fifa.

I 100% agree with that what ever has happend to konami the reason we are on these forums is because we love the pro evo series and as huge fans are rightly pissed off. I really think they need to take a long hard look at themselves and realise that if its the same shit next year there will be a lot of new fifa fans.

The thing with new pro evo games is what exactly can they do, as MatTheCat said the game looks to have peaked. All they can do is iron out the flaws but i dont see what drastic changes could be made

i think they need to concentrate on working on the existing issues before creating new ones.

Agreed,
if they can sort out the minor problems (Refs, keepers, defence) then thy can think about Major improvements

No point learning to run if you cant walk

Considering they're working with "next-gen" consoles, and they're working on their 3rd installment for the Xbox 360. I will be disappointed with anything less than incredible if I'm honest. Fair enough if they can't afford all the licenses, but at least give us the editing tools to change the teams to our liking. The possibilities are supposed to be there.

Why can't we have 50 stadiums ?
Why can't we have 30 balls ?
Why can't we have 30 boots ?
Why can't we have 50 kit templates ?
Why can't we have a 3rd kit, and the choice of kits in League modes etc. ?
Why can't we have a stadium/ball/boot editor ?
Why can't we have 100 spaces for camera editing ?
Why can't we have 3 Divisions in the Master League ?
Why can't they use real currency in the Master League, even "Euros" ?
Why can't they balance the defence and attack evenly ?
Why can't they slow the game down, or even give us the choice again ?
Why can't we change emblems like we could about 5 years ago ?
Why can't they remove the cheating from the AI ?
Why can't we choose the net types for the goals etc. ?
Why can't we have a smooth online mode ? Even PES6 was successful.
Why can't we have more than 1 vs. 1 ?
Why can't we play a Master League with our friends in the same team online ?

Get it sorted Konami, there's no point in removing the majority of the features, and then bringing them back a couple of years later and expecting everyone to believe they're immense and fresh.

I wouldn't care because FIFA fans have no idea what game play is (they have the small bit of your brain which is stimulated by game play numbed at birth) and they are still flogging the dead horse!! thats why i laugh my ass off.......

fifa fans says" but we got all the names!!" hits run run run run run takes round 9 players and shoots with a single press of the shoot button which decides itself how powerfull the shot is!!!!!!!!!

(i give them the original FIFA's on the mega drive was class..but thats it).

Why? Cos they're all playing an overhyped, over easy, expensive game that plays absolutely nothing like it's real life counterpart? Licences aside Fifa is utter gash. Gameplay is number one for me, always has been, it's a bit like shagging a totally beautiful bird who is as stupid and ignorant as they come(Fifa), its alright at first and then you just think "what the fuck am i doing?" then you come across a lass who isn't quite as pretty but still well worth a lenghthing (Pro Evo) then you realise she's not only a great shag but is intelligent and funny too, jackpot.

I'm getting excited just imagining half of the possibilities!!!
Maybe they will listen for once and incorporate what the people really want.

def with you on this one!! I mean think about it they wouldn't have to spend any money on research!! and development!! just ask the fans, i mean its the fans who have really taken this game to another level themselves!! I bet all the bits we notice from playing this darn game too much, konami dont even know about!! how many fans have lost a lot of their lives to this game lol ... I have!!

Consider maybe they won't include licensed content, stadiums and all that crap. They never do anyway. What can they do to improve gameplay? Watch a real match for example, that would be a good start. And play more Football Manager.

1) Pace. It's all wrong in PES 2008. Variable pace throughout the match would be a bliss, although I don't know how they could implement it in a 10/15-min game. A good start would be having the AI players not pressing and running like crazy throughout the entire match, having (most) AI teams give the f*ck up already and let go of the match when they're losing 5-0 at 70 min, etc. I can also think of an "anxiety" stat, like a momentum thing, that will make a side play faster but have greatly reduced accuracy in their passing, especially inexperienced/crappy players. I have many ideas like this to try and bring the simulation closer to the pace of a real match. Basically, I think players should have more mentality stats, and incorporate some of the FM teachings. If a player can't handle pressure, then maybe his accuracy and speed can be dropped a bit for important matches or tense moments of the match. Teams should also have stats as a whole, and this could be reflected in the in-game animations. For example, a lot of protesting and reprimanding teammates instead of clapping when a pass is not good. A general teamwork stat would be welcomed. When buying/selling a great number of players, at least some teams should take their time to adapt and improve their accuracy/teamwork. Runs and overlaps could also be affected by players not understanding each other very well.
Confidence or momentum is another thing I'd like to see implemented.
As you can see, there are a LOT of things that can be done to the game.

2) Massive AI improvement. This will bring about a lot of advantages, namely no more cheating to make the game harder, actually being a difficult game, and being able to intelligently implement things in point 1.

Basically that's it. Both points I wrote here are vital, and I don't think one can be implemented without the other. However, PES as it is now would be a good game with just point 2.

I think you're on to something with that anxiety stat thing there PacMan, but I'm not sure it'd be fair if you were one-nil down and your centre forward misses a sitter because a stat has altered his abilities since half time or whatever. Mabe it'd apply only to CPU players, but I think there's an idea in that.

On teamwork, there's already a stat for that isn't there? If you sign someone in the ML then their link-up with other members of the team is not so great to begin with.

And I think on the AI front they're halfway there. I think the TeamVision is good, you really notice when you're a goal down and the CPU sticks eleven men behind the ball. Don't forget they've probably re-coded most of the game, and in an effort to improve it they lost some of the better AI from older versions. That's what I'd like to think anyway...

anxiety and momentum would be great! especially for derbys and 6 pointers toward the end of the season
