So here it goes...
Another day, another evening and having told myself for 1000th time that "This Time" it might change, it might get better, I insert the PES disk again into the PS3.

Master League. Me Arsenal against Bolton. 14th game of the season.
Gardner dribbles through my players and BAM 1-0.
Player goes down 40 yards. Free Kick. Average Joe takes it and then BAM 2-0.
Stupid stupid deflections and BAM 3-0.

I am utterly gutted. This wasnt the first time and wont be the last. I have been playing PES since ever and I have never seen so much bullshit in one iteration.

1. Why is it that the COM attacks with 2,3 players, one-two passing through your defense and CROSSING ALL THE TIME to expose the unbearably stupid GKs?
2. Why is it that an average Joe COM nearly always converts free kicks?
3. Why is it that there seems to exist an invisible leg or some kind to deflect the ball wherever COM wants?
4. What the fuck is wrong with defending? I cant defend for shit.
5. What the fuck is wrong with running animation? Is the pitch SOAPY?!
the list goes on and on for me. I want my bloody money back KONAMI :realmad:. Going back to PES 11.

I've not played PES 2012 for very long at all, literally 4-5 matches so I'm not really in a position to set down a concrete judgement on the game.

But I will say that, up to now, I've been having a horrid time trying to defend against the CPU. It just seems to me, as if they always flick the ball to the side before you're able to put a foot in, and they'll continue their dribble after knocking it to the side and/or past you. I can't quite put my finger on it, perhaps the CPU are just too accurate in their dribbling, while it seems my defence is more slow and unresponsive. As I say though, I'll get a better feel for it the more I play it, so hopefully I'll become more adapted to it.

Please refrain from swearing in thread titles too, even if 'bleeped' out. It's just a bit unnecessary really, and you can get your point across without it. :)

Sorry mate. totally lost it there for a minute.
It is all because I feel increasingly frustrated.
shambolic defending, unsatisfying shooting, unrealistic deflections, stupid keepers, unrealistic match score simulations, scripted play and worst of all, the slippery foot. One step forward two step back.

The_whisper,

Are you playing on top level? Try superstar, just go unlock it and try it out. That craziness you described seems to happen on Top Level but superstar seems much more fair and more balanced .

When I read posts that are extremely stupid it pisses me off , Mid-November there is a update for the game so calm your fu'ng horses.

Konami have posted up details of the upcoming 1.02 patch for PES 2012, which will be made available later this month.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has outlined the content for a planned update for PES 2012.

Due for release mid-November, the free download is designed to enhance the playing experience for PlayStation(R)3, Xbox 360(R) and Windows PC users.

It adds improved goalkeeper performance, removes the stuttering effect during running, makes small adjustments to the penalty and free-kick systems, and fixes some small bugs that have been reported.

Changes have also been made to the structure of the Game Plan menu, making them easier to navigate and use.

The update is in response to user feedback, and reaffirms KONAMI's commitment to improving PES 2012.

I want to love the game, but the useless through balls are really pissing me off. I've tried manual through balls but they just go wherever the hell they want.

:kanyelaugh:

I've played a few games of Superstar now..... and it's just as scripted as ever other level. Yesterday I couldn't get through a single match without becoming incredibly pissed off.
Ok, so the first goal I conceded was a free kick from 30 yards.... no surprise there, 90% of the free kicks I've conceded around my area have resulted in goals. Next goal was even worse. A fairly average through ball was played down my wing. I had control of my defender and pretty much had it covered.... UNTIL he inexplicably takes a step in the opposite direction allowing the winger to stroll on by. Winger crosses it in to a completely unmarked attacker and he glances it in, past the keeper who completely flops at it.

These aren't minor problems that you can just ignore.... these are gamebreaking flaws in the game that completely ruin it for me. I can't see the next patch changing much.

Use the pes 2012 fails to improve your game. ex: 85-90% of the long range shots are scored. try to do the free-kick with the second player.

oh, btw DON'T EVER make a cross!

a 200 cm striker loses all the time to 150 cm defenderes if it's you. if the Computer crosses it's exacly the opposite. sorry my bad english

Are you having a laugh or what?
Hey they are going to fix something that was released only a month ago.
OK so you go in to a car showroom to buy a car.The salesman says "sorry about the square wheels,I know it will handle crap and ride awful but in a couple of weeks I will fix it and give you round ones."
YOU WOULD TELL HIM TO DO ONE.
I took my PES back to Game yesterday and thankfully got the majority of my money back. The guy behind the counter said that they had that many copies of this game traded in recently they were considering changing there pricing procedure.......SAYS IT ALL REALLY.
It seems a mojority of people who love PES will stick up for it regardless.
And before anyone pops up and says "I dont like it because Im rubbish at it"....dont bother Ive been rubbish at EVERY pes but I still used to love it.
PES used to be awesome.Friends used to come round who had never played it before and have a good laugh wich is what a game is all about.....and yes it is just a game.
Great for pick up and play but enough depth for more serious players to really get stuck in.........NOT ANYMORE.
Imagine someone who has never played PES before buying this game,it will be back in the box before you know it and Fifa will be there choice for evermore.
The guys at EA must be walking around with permanent grins on there faces and rubbing there hands at the prospects of future sales.
In my 'OPINION' and thats all it is (thats what forums like this are for) PES should call it a day.It reminds me of an ageing rock band well past there sell by date.

Konami.Give it up your just embarrasing yourselves now.
Alot of people will stick with it im sure just for the simple fact that the only other choice is FiFa wich to me is souless (but Id be the first to admit that its heading in the right direction).
A mate also said that on his version (XBO 360) you cant play 2v2 even though it clearly states that you can.I do hope Konami havent made this mistake in the US coz I can see a lawsuit on the horizon.

R.I.P PES...............we had a blast

I just have to say having been a true PES fan since the PSX days because of it's fluidity and freedom of play. Not to mention the great tactical set-ups that you could apply to your team and individuals. I mean you can actually notice changes once they've been made. Like in the old days you could mark someone out of the game if for example you were having trouble dealing with a specific player so you'd pit him against a physically strong and defensive player and hey presto the attackers chances become limited but as in real life never 100%.

I have never been a fan of Fifa...ever. So don't even bother saying I'm a Fifa fan boy because I still hate that crap game to this very day. Literally used to hate it because of the score from the halfway line goals I used to score with average players on a regular basis. Fifa has improved a lot. I tried Fifa 2012. It looks good. It plays okay but it's way too easy to score once you pair a long pass expert with someone who can work the lines. One long through ball. In on goal. Finesse shot. 8 out of 10 times it's a goal. Other than that the defending in Fifa is actually GOOD compared to Pro Evo because you can close down channels. BALANCE actually works in Fifa where you can outmuscle running noobs and dribblers if you make contact with them.

Pro Evo 2012 is a good game...for idiots who have no footballing brain. I'm the sort of player who uses his brain. Can keep amazing amounts of possession. Can time tackles. Close passing channels. Keep key players on the opposing side quiet by marking them out of the game. In Pro Evo 2011 this was possible as it allowed you do be in full control of your team. Pro Evo 2012 even though they had some great ideas for the game. Some amazing ideas actually. But the biggest gripe I have is that it is no longer a game for those who actually use their brain. It's gone back to the old days where if you had someone who is even slightly quick or good at dribbling they can waltz through your team and either score or set a goal up.

In PES 2011 before they even start their run you could apply pressure and either outmuscle them or call for backup just incase he slips away. There were still some players who were at time unstoppable in PES 2011 but either way it was 50/50 when it came to ATTACK VS DEFENCE. In PES 2012 however I'm sure many of you will agree that the advantage goes to the attacker because more than likely you will not be able to stop someone like Neymar. You can still do a lot of good things to defend against attacks in PES 2012 like closing channels, using the R2 methods, getting in position etc but what's the point when it's not a fair game? It should be 50/50 when it comes to ATTACK VS DEFENCE.

Example. England vs Brazil. I put Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Micah Richards at right back and Ashely Cole left back to use their balance, speed and defence to stop marauding right/left backs and right/left wingers. Now I have played PES 2012 long enough to have mastered the 'art of defending'. I know how to perfectly use the new R2 defence and it's variations. Neymar...just runs through them all. They're all stronger. They're all highly defensive. They're not slouches with the exception of Terry. Slips through 8 times out of 10. Sets a chance up or scores. Now I play against the COM at the highest difficulty quite a bit and I'd say the game is about 70% in favour of the attacker and even though that's a high percentage the game is still manageable and you are still able to defend OKAY. Not good. Just OKAY. I can live with OKAY.

Now...I play this game a whole lot more with a friend than against the COM. Someone who has never been able to beat me with Brazil since the old kick and rush one-two days of the PSX versions of PES. Where one simple one-two or a run using Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Denilson etc would result in a goal. So back then even I used to resort to those tactics to give him a taste of his own medicine and I have to say it was too easy to score and just...funny. Heck my team in the old PSX versions of PES was...Nigeria. Never lost a game with Nigeria to anyone. All because of the bloody runners. Babangida, Finidi George, Okocha, Aghahowa, Oliseh etc. PES 2012 reminds me of those games.

The emphasis is purely on attack so they have the advantage. It's easier to attack than to defend. In football we've seen teams defend as good as the opposing team attacks. At the very least any team should be able to hold their own maybe losing the game 1-0 or 2-0 which you can live with. Now though...if you pick an average team against a half decent team with one or two players who have running or dribbling or a combination of both stats in their 90's...you might aswell put the pad down and give up if you're playing a friend. You will more than likely lose by a huge margin. Not because you're a bad player. Not because you're an average player. Because you're a good player. You use your brain. You think "Okay my formation is perfectly suited to defend against this team". You think "I should be able to contain this team for at least 60-70 minutes and if I let one goal in then it's okay because they are the better team and not because you're playing someone better than you". The reason you lost is because you think too much. You're using your brain too much. You're complicating things. When all you really have to do is pick a team with a runner/dribbler.

Not only will you dance through the entire team without much effort but you'll start to laugh when you see these small, skinny and physically weak players getting infront of physically strong and defensively strong players to win headers and score headers on a regular basis. If you don't believe me just play the game against Brazil and their default formation will be something like 4-3-3 with Pato, Neymar and Robinho up front. Watch them become Alan Shearer/Maradona/Messi/C.Ronaldo/Pele/L.Ronaldo all in one.

Then when you actually start the game...the idiot you're playing against continually passes to his key player(s). For the whole 90 minutes...he's holding the R1 running button. Running through all of your players because the defending is RUBBISH. Not even using any of the tactical dribble buttons or the skills. Just running using R1. Balance in this game means absolutely NOTHING. Defence stats in this game doesn't mean much either because more than likely the running noob you're playing against will still slip away 8 times out 10. Now you're playing against this person who never uses his brains. Never plays in triangles. Never uses tactics. Never uses any knowledge of football whatsoever to create his attacks. No creativity. No variation in attack. All he is doing is holding the R1 button. Running through all of your defence. Shooting. Goal. Goal. Deflection. Own goal. Keeper mistakes. Rubbish decisions by the referee. And when you finally do slightly touch someone to use your balance...freekick. No outmuscling. Just freekick. When did football become a game for bloody pansies??

I've finally after all these years of supporting PES even in it's darkest days when it looked like they couldn't take the game any further...I've finally given up on PES. This game now belongs to all those idiots who have no understanding of football and hold the R1 button all game long and pick teams with running and dribbling stats in the 90's.

Anyone who supports this game hasn't either played against a friend or is still blindly supporting PES because it ALLOWS them to simply run past players with their 90+ stat players knowing full well nobody can defend against it. Even those who are still playing this game because it's meant to be better than the alternative but it's not. It's equally as bad as Fifa. Maybe a lot worse considering PES has made it's reputation on providing us with a realistic football simulation. Even the best defenders in the game today are absolutely worthless.

Fifa...God don't even mention that game to me. Looks great. Sounds great. Attacking is great. Keepers are AWESOME. Referees are good. Continuation of play from throw-ins, freekicks etc is realistic. Defence is good. Balance actually works...but the reason I say don't mention it...is because...the game is still...overall...RUBBISH. I hate something that was close to getting it right but misses the key ingredient. One long through ball like I said. Finesse shot. Goal. WAY TOO EASY TO SCORE. Not to mention the rubbish A.I. All the players seem quite...similar. There's no individuality.

PES on the other hand don't even know what individuality is. They think because the world is raving about a certain player who has yet to prove anything to the world (I'm looking at you Mr Injury Prone Pato who turns quicker than a Gazelle at full speed running from a pack of Hyenas) is so good that they can take the world on. Not to mention his teammate, Neymar. Who, to me, right now...is just another Robinho (who is also way overrated in this game). But in the game? Even though his stats don't show it...he will destroy your team just because he has 90+ dribbling and he's quick. Now if we're all honest with each other and I mean truly honest even if you support certain footballers/teams...we all know that the majority of star players in PES are WAY overrated. Not to mention the players who aren't such stars and shirt sellers that are WAY underrated. The stats in Fifa are much more realistic if I'm honest but it's a pity the stats in Fifa don't mean much because individuality is never on show.

I just hope there are other true football fans who share my opinion and feel so strongly about this as I do because I have always been such a passionate supporter of PES.

I do not love you anymore, PES. Even though I loved you like no other...we have to break up. Don't worry...I'm not breaking up with you because of that dumb blonde Fifa who gets by on her looks. Good luck with the rest of your life. Who knows? If one day you decide to better yourself...maybe we can get back together but for now...be happy with your R1 running noobs. This chapter of my life is now...closed.
