what also would be beautiful is if you'd see the hair move more realistic in almost every detail, making the hair completely depend on gravity

It's already in another thread i know, but....

1. KITS

First of all I would like the fully licensed teams to come with 3 sets of outfield jerseys, and 3 or 4 sets of shorts and socks which can be mixed and matched to avoid kit clashes. Take Pro Evo 3 for example, the Italian teams that were licensed, it was obviously part of the deal that their kits could not be edited (that's fair enuf) but if you were playing a match between Juventus and AC Milan (maybe it's just me but) I would like to be able to change Milan's shorts to black so as not to clash with Juve's and vice versa. Just a small thing but it makes all the difference. Just adds to the authenticity and the overall feel of the game. Not sure about Milan as an example but definitely in Manchester derby the away team changes their shorts.

Secondly, the ability to make jerseys / kits from scratch using some sort of in-game design tool would be a great addition. I mean, the kit templates in PES3 were a little restrictive and from what I've heard of WE8 they are even worse in that. C'mon!, no stripes option. If you could edit the kit fully with total freedom you would have much better and more real-looking kits. You could choose the collar type (too often restricted to a particular kit template, eg not enuf V-necks for adidas kits). You could adidas stripes on the sleeves if you wished, or hummel arrows for Aston Villa, add sections that would be a different colour, like new Arsenal kit, or just put lines and designs of choice whereveryou wished to on the jersey, shorts and socks. There's a guy called Whistle over on evo-web.co.uk and he is a fantastic kit editor and badge / sponsor designer. But he has to make do with the terrible kit templates that prevent him from making perfect kits.

I love doing editing, as time-consuming as it is, but it is frustrating when the game lets you down because of the lack of options. I mean, I havent seen a Man Utd kit look right yet because of the new Nike style, also Arsenal's home kit, how are you supposed to do that intricate design without the options needed to do so.

I know that people can patch their game and make it look near perfect. I have looked on, green with envy as people have perfect kits to play with, but I dont have the means to patch and I'm sure I'm not alone but I would love the opportunity to make kits from scratch.

wouldnt it be a huge step to the real thing if they'd make the hair move while playing( see last post)??? cuz i haven't seen it in iss nor fifa.although i think iss is better then fifa but if they'd fix this even fifa fans would switch over

Maybe already suggested, but I think they should implement a widescreen option. Imagine the greater view of the pitch. You would also be able to play it full-screen on a widescreen television without the players looking fatter and shorter. Ain't that the truth? Amen.

The mode where you take control of a single player and train him (whoever came up with this idea's very smart) could be done in Challenge Training Mode. For each of the 5 stars on each individual aspect of playing, you could have a chance of playing for a better team. For example 1 star, you could be playing for a Sunday league team and 5 stars you could be asked to sign a deal for a Premiership team (like Arsenal!). You could take the role of his agent but at the same time, take the role of training him up for first team football You could then take the training of the player further and train him to play for his country?

P.S. Gimli2004 - Your post was well good man. Carrying on from what you said, i think that at the strip selection screen they get rid of having a player from each side walking and modelling the kit and could have every combination of kit. It'd be about 12 or something like that in total but it'd sure solve the problem of kit-clash!

I dunno bout you guys n some1 may had already said this but i would love 2 b able to choose 3 or 4 made up player celebrations. say he scores in the first minite he just runs back to kick off again but if he scores in the 80-90 min region i would have him jumping in the stands if it was a close game like 0-0 or 2-1 or something this would definatly put the finishing touches on pro evo 4 for me...any1 else agree??

I would make the best grass physics ever, since the grounds are done in square's all you would have to do is make one sqaure and copy it you could make the grass darker or lighter and any shape, but I would make each little grass bit and make it react to the foot and ball so it looks amzing when you zoom in on the ball and player. (can only be done on XBOX or upcoming consoles e.g PS3 and XBOX 2).

I would improve the ball physics and player physics make keepers realistic with breath taking saves, not as vulnerable against dummy shots like if you do them too much he figures your tactic out, and improve the edit mode.

ok picture this... you are lets say arsenal you have younger players that are traind in the club who play in the second team or A1 of Arsenal you get a sign that you have a possible talent who is 16 and CF or DF or OH in the youth team and you can try him out in the first team of arsenal instead of train younger players because you dont wan't to play with them every match and if you don't play with them every match they won't be strong enough to stay in your team because of the points you earn after a match is won or lost and how many minutes he has played if they use the Younger Team Talent option your won't have to let a younger player who has to be trained play every match .there is one problem and i already tought of that if you did this idea every team must have a youth team A1 or Second team.... no just make a group of players like 3 or 5 for every position and you can't look at who they are and choose and every 3 or 4 seasons a younger talent shows up and then you choose to let him come in the team or not and there is a limit off talented players who are alowed in a team let's say 2 because think about it how times did you train a player not more then 2 or 3 and the people who are at season 9 or 10 don't even look at the younger players who you must train for points to get stronger i hope you like my idea please reply if i forgot a problem or mist something why this isn't possible

sometimes i play against manchester or some other club ... and then they are on the attack .. wayne rooney behind the ball, and then all of a sudden he does a c.ronaldo trick play.. i mean .. not because a player has a tecnique of 80 or higher he has to do (scizzors??) all the time .. even van Nistelrooy seems like ronaldinho sometimes..
only specific players should do it (when playing against CPU) and some should do it more often then others( c.ronaldo, ronaldo , and ronaldinho should use his flipflap quite often) and other things that are specific to players.. like r.carlos always likes to run up, figo loves to fall, henry passes the ball next to the man end then runs around the man to collect the ball.

Lame example but it'll have to do ..
8 ... ...
7______________-O-
6__________-O-___O³
5______-O-_______O³
4 ___-O-__-O-²___O³
3____-O-_______O³
2_____-O-_____O³
1_______-O- + O³

-O- = Henry
-O-²= Defender
O³ = Ball
___ = Field

anyone agrees??

It's getting there, but I dream of a combination of PES and Championship Manager with fully licensed teams (I'm getting a bit tired of modifying all the time) Master league w/player of match/month/year. And I still feel the computer intelligence could be better e.g. when to go for runs in front of ball and when to cover if you defend 1 on 1

I reckon they need to work on player editing. It's really frustrating that you can't create a player and put them ina club team but yet you can with an international team, why is that? Also it's really frustrating that you can't release a player from a team and perminantly save it for example if Andy Cole decided to retire mid season with an injury, I couldn't just let him go, he'd have to go to another team.
On pro evo 3 I had to dump a load of players in the two shitty teams that weren't real (like when David Dunn stopped playing for Blackburn).

Also each year the commentry remains shit and although the game play and graphic are far superior to Fifa, the commentry is way way behind. For crying out loud it's bloody worse than fifa 97 and that came out 8 years ago!!!!!! I find it so annoying that I have to put it in Spanish just to stop me getting pissed off!!!

If you're pissed off with having to edit club team flags and player names you can buy a cheat CD for about 7 quid. It can also unlock everything (ie all the stuff you'd usually need to collect 10,000 points for!) Although having said this, I'm not sure whether they're making one for pro evo 4 but look out for it. The company that makes it is called Action Replay.

Possible use of L1 to delay additional touches on the ball

Possible use of L1 to delay additional touches on the ball.

I have been playing WE/PES since PES2 and will soon start my campaign on the next installment WE8 (I am waiting till after exams).
After watching a lot of soccer and playing a lot of WE, I have to say that I felt that in real games players often do a lot by just delaying their touch. Often this means you don't know whether they are going to pass, shoot or dribble. Also, often you know exactly what they are going to do, but don't know WHEN and this is what makes it so hard to defend against. I then went about thinking up a way to implement this in WE - I thought using the L1 button was best as the I think the slow run use of this button is pretty useless - but maybe people will say it is better assigned elsewhere.

Anyway, have a read and see what you think of it as a gameplay mechanic. Remember the idea is to give the player more control over what happens on the pitch. Also remember that the effectiveness of any idea is in the implementation - remember the advantage rule. Any feedback you guys have is certainly appreciated.

Functionality:

To allow you to delay the next touch on the ball by the player in possession, whether that next touch be moving the the ball in a direction or to play a pass or a shot.

Examples of use:

Cutting in on the wing:
Often we see players like Henry and Kewell coming down the wing waiting for the right time to cut inside. Often you can see this move coming for ages before it actually happens - it is just a question of when. Often this will be to cut between two defenders double teaming them.

The way I imagine this, you would also be able to hold R1 such that the first touch would result in a large burst of speed (obviously dependant on the players stats). This would also allow for huge changes in speed for faking out defenders trying to track players down the wing or even running through the centre of midfield.

Again this is way of making sure that you delay your changes in direction to the exact right moment in order to avoid tackles from defenders.

Delaying putting through a pass/shot:
Passing:
The idea here is simple - often you want to wait for the exact right time to play a through ball or pass - but the fact that your player is running with the ball means you take another dribbling touch before you can play the pass, screwing up your timing. This allows you to make sure that the next touch on the ball will be a pass.

Just so everyone understands how I see this working...
hold L1 to stop your player putting additional touches on the ball, but your player will actively run along with the ball and try to use his body to keep possession. Hold X for pass, and when you LET GO of L1 your player plays the pass.
This could also allow justification for making your pass more accurate, as your player knows for a long time exactly where he is going to pass the ball so he can get his technique right.

Shooting:
Again this is about getting the timing right and making sure the ball is the right distance from the player for him to line up a shot perfectly. This also allows synchronisation of the amount you wish to power up the shot and the distance you want your player to be from the ball when he shoots it.
IE hold L1, power up shot, wait till right time to take shot, release L1.

Once more this allows justification for making some shots more accurate (ie a player taking time to make sure they are getting the technique right.

Preventing/Delaying your player from touching the ball on defence:
So say the ball has been kicked over the top and your CB and an opposition striker are running towards it. You know that if your player touches it first, the way he slows down by getting the touch is probably going to give the striker the advantage he needs to win the ball. What you'd rather do is have your player make sure that his first touch takes the ball sideways away from the striker. So you hold L1 press the direction you want, wait till your player is close enough (because L1 does not prevent your player getting at the ball - he still runs to protect it)to make sure his first touch takes it that direction then let go of L1.

OR
You have body position and just want to run the ball out without your player touching it so you get the goal kick/throw in or whatever. Again, just hold L1 till the ball goes out so your player protects it.
This helps avoid your players running the ball out of bounds and giving away throw ins, goal kicks whatever.

Problems:

Obviously there is a question of how this interacts with L1 causing runs for 1-2s _ I am not sure how to fix this except for moving one or the other to another button - Perhaps L3??

PS - I hope I posted this in the right place, and if I didn't - sorry.

Regarding commentary

I don't know about you guys, but I am sick of hearing crap commentary - I would rather they scrapped it completely and went for an on the pitch mix that allowed you to hear your players calling for the ball or telling you 'man on'.
