Is PES turning into FIFA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I don't believe this game, after many painful hours/days trying to fix an error with PES, once I finally get it working, its the worst football game you can BUY!

I've played semi-pro football in real-life (goalkeeper), so I know all there is about football. I liked all the PES games for the goal Konami tried to achieve which was mainly making a realistic football game which was fun at the same time!

I love PES6, MP sucked a bit, but I thought it would get improved in this version, how wrong was I!!!!!!! I have steered clear of FIFA for because they are completely crap in my opinion. They have the sounds and graphics, but the gameplay sucks ass!

Now... After playing PES08 for a couple days, it feels like playing FIFA! PES08 is sluggish, compatibility is crap, A.I worst ever and MP don't get me started about that!

90% of people love being all the noob/cheat teams! (Barca/Inter etc...), were as I like being my team, LIVERPOOL! I'm not fussed if people wish to use these teams, then think their a good player because it just makes me laugh. But when Konami make these teams impossible to beat that's what pisses me off! Liverpool are not a shit team, they have been to the Champ league final twice and owning Barca in the process! Yet Konami make them shite!

Then there's the shitty A.I.................... My good Konami have ruined PES! As I said I played in goal semi-pro, I don't expect them to be as good as they are in real-life, but they could get them acting 1000x's better than they are now! I mean 1on1's, any top player will score, even if the bloody keeper saves the ball, its manages to go in!!!!!! Defenders...... They bunch up like pratts and watch the ball go passed! Man marking sucks ass, and you can never tackle a top player WTF???? I mean, how the hell does messi out muscle Hyypia or Carragher???? That will never happen, and before you say, I'm not being bias. Most of you I'm sure feel the same way about this. So basically, if you pick one of the "so called" top teams, you can literately run through teams, thats how much the game sucks!

Then theirs the setup for MP, why the hell did Konami get rid of what they had on PES6???????????? I had PES6 on the 360, and what we have now is exactly the same as it was on the 360! Why cut the chat out? Why cut 2v2 out? Why make it so players can't interact with each other like PES6? WHY WHY WHY???????

I believe I'm a good player on PES, some people might know me as PROEVIL on PES6 (PC). My record on 08 is something like W20 D1 L15, all played with Liverpool!

do people seriously think fifa is better this year? my initial thoughts on the PES 2008 gameplay are that it's tightened up a little on last year's version, but i don't think it's different enough for people to hate PES 2008 in comparision to PES 6.

the presentation and options are a different matter of course, PES is terrible in this department and if fifa really has got vastly improved gameplay (over the 2006 version, which was the last i played), then perhaps it's time to say goodbye to PES.

I cant understand why people hate 08 so much.

My main guess is that its a lot different to PES6, they play a few games and they dont adjust well because of the difference and because they cant simply pick up where they left off on PES6 and win the majority of their games, therefore the game sucks and its the end of the world.

And lol at the "i know everything there is to know about football" comment, ask any bloke in the country he will probably say that when they probably dont, what a stupid comment makes me not want to take you too seriously.

Haven't played any of the new FIFA's as I was hooked on PES until now!

I have no idea, but in my opinion I think FIFA is crap so I wouldn't know. I'm just judging from past experiences.

Also, what do you mean by tightened up? Meaning its hard to find space? If so, its not. It only takes one long ball or through ball to these super players then your defenders act like spastics.

I don't hate it, but at the same time I don't like it. Konami have messed up this time. There is a lot more negative threads/topics in this forum than positive. Doesn't that tell you something???

Its not about adjusting to the game, everyone will in time. I take it your one of those players that use all the Barca's/Inters etc... So maybe you wont understand.

PES08 doesn't feel like a PES game. Understand what I'm saying now? I, and most probably a lot of other people have played every single PES released, but none have ever been as bad as this one!

Oh, about the... "i know everything there is to know about football" comment, it was a bit of sarcasm num nuts. I do know my football, and I'm not bothered if you think otherwise. Maybe you should try reading my first post better then you will understand the point I'm trying to make.

By the way, just for the record... I will carry on playing PES08, maybe a couple games here an there, but not as much as I would have liked to.

I predicted this a year ago after PES6's and FIFA 07's inception. Anyone who has been here bickering with me can attest to this. I knew it was going to happen, and it seems that it has. PES and FIFA have effectively changed roles in the market.

Perhaps the opposing team is more reactive to your tactics now, but as the poster correctly pointed out, either they stand by and let you score a gazillion goals, or they become C.Ronaldo clones and score 4 or 5 purely by dribbling. At least this is my experience with the original ML team. There's nothing intelligent about this AI. It'll try to dribble like Henry even if it's controlling Ordaz... The bottom line is, I'm winning div 1 on my first attempt with the original ML team + 4 signings. And I got the game days ago. It's insane, it'll bore me by March.

What PES is becoming is a shitty shadow of what it has always stood for, adding one cheap solution over another instead of addressing the real, deeper issues brought about by age. KONAMI, it's about time Seabass got more than 6 people to develop the game. Particularly if they have to release 1 per year and on multiple platforms.

Remember when it was not about releasing the game, but about making it good?

Yup! Those times are long gone now unfortunately. Now its all about selling eye candy. Then game developers wonder why everyone prefer to use torrents to download illegal games! Maybe if they put some effort into the games maybe, just maybe everyone will buy the original copy. But until developers start pleasing their customers, they wont see any improvements. I for one download torrents, as this gives me a heads up of how the full game and not a crappy demo will run. Then I can see whether not not if I will get ripped off for my money! PES was a different story, I just went straight out and bought it. Wish I never bought it now. Ah well...

About the A.I matey, I'm not talking about human vs A.I on PES, but how the A.I act when you play other people. Before the match you set up your formation, everything looks nice from what you can see! Then once the match starts, the A.I do their own thing! They ball watch, let players run past them etc... I would love to play a match were the stupid shitty A.I doesn't cost me the match!!!!

because it was different! Stupid fifa trash they copy PES 90% and dont act like u dont know what i`m talkin about. The fuckin AI is there just to help you in small things or yo just prefer that the AI do it all A? Play it on manual ..play it wide camera ! I let AI control only 25% of my gameplay. You have a 11 man team on the pitch ,every player have purpose ,they are like unit ,if you keep them under control all time only then you will see HOW MUCH BETTER THIS GAME IS THEN LAST ONE !!! If u can`t do those things then you have to ask yourself ..am i a pro or weekend palyer ! And yes i`m upset about yo threads and i need to pacificate

I'm not saying it's bad, just that it isn't as good as we expected. And I think that's a generalised feeling. Maybe our hopes were unreal, maybe it's just because I've been playing PES for too long. As you said, I started playing it because it was different, but it's been a long time since it was different to its previous versions, if you know what I mean. Just minor tweaks here and there, and we need more. The game is fun to play with friends (it always was), but it's too easy against the AI. The pace is too fast and there is a general feeling of arcade to it that the original games didn't have. It's a trend that started when the game migrated to the PS2, and it has become more evident every year.

Its not the point mate, I want to play PES08 online, end of. Without having to put up with all the lag! Its that too much to ask for my money??? I loved PES6, it only lagged if they cheated! Most of the time you would get a good game, well I did anyway. Now Konami have completely changed the interface for online, and its complete and utter SHITE! You can't interact with other players, you can sit their for ages before you get a game and more... All they had to do was tweak what they had for PES6, maybe have it so bandwidth was monitored, so that means if there's a rapid change in one players bandwidth, I.E creating lag, the program will notice that then award the other player the game.

I'm sure with there experience that wouldn't be so hard!

@St.Zwailla... That's your opinion mate. I see it completely different, PES08 is the worst yet. For me PES6 is the best one so far, apart from a few little bugs which should have been fixed in this version!

As for the A.I controlling the gameplay... Its impossible to control all 11 men at the same time. So once your attacking, you want your defensive line to hold, maybe at the halfway line, but they don't. Then one through ball rips your team apart because the A.I acting like prats.

BTW... What does A.I stand for??? Artificial Intelligence? ROFL! Somehow I doubt that's true, the sad thing it is!
