It Just Gets Worse

I don't know about you lot but everytime i play this stupid game it just gets worse. Players and ref's just get worse, at one stage i used to laugh but now i cant even do that. I Have a few major issues with this game
1 - Players looking nothing like they really do
2- Opposite winger comes accross for every throw in (against)
3- Terrible goalkeeping error's
4- The whole invisible bubble around players at stages in the game
5- Inconsistent Referee decisions
6- Dubious offside decisions
7- Very poor commentating (resorted to Radio whilst playing)
8- Terrible in-game editing mode to put right most of this game
9- The game needs to sort out some kind of rule against Hand Balls!!
10- Goalkeepers picking up passbacks

i know these are not massive issues but put them all together and this just ruins overall gameplay of this once fantastic game. Only 2 days after its release i was looking out for next years version as i was massivly dissapointed. Im sorry if i have reitterated any of these points but just felt like i had to get them off my chest.

You have PES 2009 already?!

Oh, you must be talking about 2008. Could've fooled me, as this is the Future PES discussion forum. :p

1 - Players looking nothing like they really do
Erm... If you want, I am sure Konami will let you model every player's features to perfection for PES2009, they do pretty well in my opinion WITH THE EXCEPTION OF LUKE YOUNG.
2- Opposite winger comes accross for every throw in (against)
Annoying - not awful but it does pull your team apart if your opponent switches the ball.
3- Terrible goalkeeping error's
I agree. Worst point about the game. At least it means that you might as well save money on Master League and keep Ivarov as even Buffon will make stupid errors.
4- The whole invisible bubble around players at stages in the game
Makes sense during free kicks, since otherwise you'd keep having to re-take free kicks because someone was too close. For throw-ins this should be scrapped. Hardly game-ruining though.
5- Inconsistent Referee decisions
It's annoying. Realistic mind.
6- Dubious offside decisions
I disagree... to the max! The offside decisions are always done with 100% accuracy, and that annoys me, I liked it on an old FIFA where the ref/linesman occasionally got a decision wrong (like the ball going out of play for a millisecond and they missed it) made it terrifically realistic.
7- Very poor commentating (resorted to Radio whilst playing)
I turned off the commentary early on. I listen to music while playing (currently The Holloways or the Last Shadow Puppets)
8- Terrible in-game editing mode to put right most of this game
Compare Pro Evo to any other football game and you should be thankful for the edit mode. Unless you want to do stuff like make all the ref's short or edit the grass so it's turquoise, the edit mode is generally fine. The next gen editing's annoying compared to the previous ones, but it'll get better next year.
9- The game needs to sort out some kind of rule against Hand Balls!!
It does. But only against attackers in the opposing box. Should be made fairer.
10- Goalkeepers picking up passbacks
They can't. And infact PES2008 is more realistic than previous PESs on the basis the keeper can't pick it up at all if it hits their player's foot last.

Not so sure about that, and that's not how it is in real life. The keeper is only forbidden to pick up intentional passes. It's OK if the attacker shoots, it hits the defender foot and the keeper picks it up.

It's similar to the handball rule in that intention is a very important factor.

Well not really, as half the time they fail to even get skin colour correct.

You know I often wonder why people chose to defend this game so vehemently I really don't get that I mean it's good enough to bear and obviously the only decent enough option to play right now but something are just tragically wrong with this version that drive me str8 to the liquor cabinet

Goalkeeping for one is like a waste of energy why even have a goalie honestly

the times when your in the box trying to clear and for god knows what reason you the ball is constantly OUT of your control typically when you have the lead.........

I've figured the refs out so I won't even bother with that one, but WOW inconsistency being compared to realistic NOT SO MUCH, lets call a spade a spade it's annoying

My point is, is it not so hard to pay my 60 some odd dollars and feel the same satisfaction I get when I play other great games, without having to do all this nonsense of tweaking the game to basically fix what should have never made it out of the testing lab

I think the publishers rushed this game out to make money. the on-line mode is shocking. The edit mode is not very good for the pc version.
But overall the game looks and plays really well.

Yeah well same here, KONAMI's PES2009 was boring, everything was wrong about it, I'm going to Fifa if PES2010 isn't any good as I can't put up with all this little stuff that they say is 'minor' when it turns out to have a million 'minor' issues which turn out to be major... I especially agree with the Handballs which are non existent and the passbacks... Invisable walls are anoying, I've noticed when I do some tricks that involve nut legging, the ball bounces back off from the middle of the players leggs, so everytime that happens I save it, and in PES2010 I'll be checking it. I hope KONAMI sought this out...

That would be a VERY tricky thing to do, simply because you cannot control your players arms!

Think about it, how many times during the game does the ball it you or any player for that matter? and i would pretty much guarantee you that every time it hits you on the arm (or close to anyway).

Also, think about the freekick scenario. You could keep keep hitting the oppositions players arm in the wall every time until you could get a penalty.

I know you wanted it to be fairer, and i agree but there comes a point where realism becomes cheating (and there's enough of that on PES already:rolleyes:) and the same could be said for the "invisible bubble" for throw ins. Because every time the opposition player has a throw in, you would know which player they are going to throw it to and immediately get the ball back.

Agree with every point made, 2009 just wants me to hate it and pick out flaws!

I hate the way EVERY player with an open goal or easy opportunity puts the ball in the OPPOSITE corner or just about scores, just put it in normally!!

The whole complaining about PES is getting old and dated. We all know about virtually every fault already, despite every other new thread popping up daily.

Let's just play our broken games and await the 2010 version in blissful silence.
