i hope you guys are joking about the computer cheating, 6 stars is NOT THAT HARD AT ALL , I havent conceded a goal against the computer AI in ages...i average about 2 goals a game vs them, but if I get hot I can go for 4 or 5.

PES5 is a good game, but there are some things that just sucks:
1. "fake" manual passing - it just sucks, that I can't do "real" manual passing using my right analog stick... why it is so stupid 8-direction method, Konami is crap that left it this way (maybe they don't know how to fix it...)
2. and why keepers are so fu...kin stupid, they can run in box like crazy fuc...rs, or stand and watch ball coming in to the net...(when I see this, just want to kill my Logitech gamepad)

rest of the game is quite ok, I don't give a fu..k that CPU cheats as long as I win, I can also live that van Nisterlooy miss from 2 meters (it goes toooo high) when I just tap a square, I don't even get surprised when in 75th minute of the game some bullshit defender from some shitty team that play from the begining of the game is faster than Rooney or C.Ronaldo who paly from 65th minute of the game and have full stamina, but fact that I cant pass the ball where I WANT, or that sometimes keeper ruins everythin, my hard work, cause of his idiotic walking-running-standing is just unaccteptable, this are a major faults of the game and should be fixed by Konami. If they had fixed it it would really be a fantastic game, but either way it is really an andvantage when comparing to pes4.

Yea, but you cant really call that cheating. It's sort of realistic and actually quite silly because they open gaps like crazy...although once they are all upon you it is difficult to capitalize on such gaps.

The cheating aspect would be the referee calls, them winning most aerial challenges, making perfect free lastminute free kicks, perfect last minute longshots even under extreme pressure, making amazing no look passes and having the slowest most mediocre defenders make amazing tackles and catch up and take the ball away from your Henry or Adriano.

If you call giving the COM more advantages, as opposed to making the A.I more I, cheating, then yes, it does fucking cheat.

You are an utter squib. Most of the points being made are totally valid and should be aired. I have played every PES game religiously since the very first and it is only since PES5 that I have started to become alienated by the game. All in all PES5 is much better than any of its predecessors except for what many people are saying about the AI cheating. It aint so much the calculated "askew" passes or the fact that Henry cant just pick up the ball anywhere and skin the whole defence (that would suck actually), but the slanted pitch factor that comes into play at various times throughout matches....sometimes for most of the game! Sure, it is just like 'real' football when the tide in matches just turns either against you or in your favour, but as has already been said, who wants to be controlled by an AI program. What makes a great footie game is having as much control as possible. When I sit down to play a mate or play online, I want to be playing on an even pitch, not play a first half where the AI tilts the pitch strongly in my favour only to play a second half where the AI turns against me and my opponent runs rampant.

This "cheating" is the sole root of the immense frustration and anger that I and many others have directed at this game. I have just recently purchased PES5 for PC because the frustration of being blatantly cheated by the AI when I was giving 150% against some little twat online who kept telling me "my mother was a whore" and scoring shitty little cut-backs, all got too much to handle and resulted in me getting up and volleying my PS2 around the room!!!

I am 29, I may be a bad loser and I may be bad tempered but I have never never ever lost it with any game in my life, that has led me to smash up my console!!!

in pes3 the ball moves less realistic imo. Pes4 was just too easy to score from 40yards out.. and pes5 has been the best challenge imo. because the ball moves realistic and there is a battle in the midfield for the ball. where as i tried fifa 06 this week and it was far too easy to pass the ball aaround (also the fact that the ball floats around slowly)

Their players suddenly become superstars who would beat Brazil. For example... i play with Tottenham most times, and only last night i had Defoe (red arrow) being out paced time and time again by Martin Taylor (Birmingham) :erm: Someone tell me what thats all about?

But saying that, I could never go back to PES4. It simply doesnt offer a challenge anymore.

But it aint the wind, mental attitudes, a partisan crowd or any other natural phenomena that is turning against you on PES5, it is a bloody calculated computer program. When playing a computer game I want to be in as much control as possible, I dont want to be controlled by a computer program that has just decided that it is going to be very hard for me to score but really easy for my opponent to score. Drives me fecking nuts....I am now playing with PC cos PES5 drove me to kick my PS2 to pieces.

Also it is not the CPU cheating in 1p mode that is the worst thing...it is when in 2 player mode that the CPU just lays everything on in a silver platter for one player but thrusts the Berlin Wall in the path of the other player that really annoys me. Infact it more than annoys me....it has got me to the point where I actually reserve hatred for the game on a personal level.

Some of the gameplay and stuff that you can pull of in PES5 is immense.....but for the good of ones own health.....it really should not be played competitively.

I feel the same way. You can be as good as humanly possible yet when the comp needs a goal, nothing short of divine intervention could get in it's way, even if your team is amazing and are playing against the most pathetic side in the universe.

I really am finding it hard not to echo the "give PES5 a chance" line but I won't go down that route, instead I'll repeat what so many others have said.

First reaction on upgrading from 4 - thought 5 had dreadful gravity/physics and was too hard (that was only on 5*). I played the demo until I could beat the computer every other time, then bought the game.

Not impressed. Still thought the gravity was all messed and it wasn't long before I went back to PES4. But then, where is the fun in 4 on Vs. PC modes? Matches deteriorating into 10+ - 0 thrashings, scoring goals that were practically identical AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. I had to give 5 a chance, just for the opportunity of a challenging match.

I broke every last nerve getting good at 5. It nearly cost me my joypad but somehow I kept stopping myself before actually hammering against the nearest wall. I had no intention of playing on anything below 5* and the moment I could unlock 6*, the game really came into it's own.

I can't argue for or against the AI, whether or not the computer cheats etc. But, I can say that I have had some unbelievably good matches against chelsea, man u etc (playing as man city). The following are the features that truly make PES5 special for me:

Continually scoring in different ways (granted, none/few of the airborne),

The opposition actually take ultra-attacking measures when they're a goal down in the last 10 minutes and counter attacks feel more realistic (the whole, "Now you're fuc*ed" thing),

I cant smash free kicks in along the floor, less than 3 yards from the keeper (with pes4, I would shoot as close to the goalpost as possible and okotcha would score almost every time)


Buttom line - I'm getting a real "like proper football" feel when I play PES5. Ok, scorelines are starting to get less realistic (I beat chelsea 8-1 the other day on 6*, no idea how that happened and lost to one of the worst teams in the next game). If you like PES4 and can live with the constant thrashing of the computer, I guess I can understand why you might not want to commit yourself to 5 but it really is a case of getting out what you put in!

that's about it... the rest of the game is retarded... The way the goalies position is unrealistic... just out of possition, running around like rabbits... free kicks!!! what the hell??? From 25 yards out and none of my forwards are in the box trying to connect with the ball??? Am I supposed to pass the ball??? Why??? I want to whack it in the box, but there's none of my players there...

Shooting... I'm sorry, sucks big time... I tap the button and Van Nistelrooy shoots hiiiigh... next time I tap it, it goes in low... WTF??? Mind u, I understand, that it depends from the position of the player against the goal, but still, this is unrealistic...

Passing... No point in through passes, really, they're inaccurate as hell... They're fine to send wingers on runs, but to set someone lose down the middle, no way...

In pes4 I could play football... in pes5 I just get angry. Random results... In pes4 I played the game for a year and still was scoring different goals... in pes5 nooooo...

Pes4, gentle tap-ins, headers from crosses, long shots, lobs, low shots, all that...

Anyway, hated the way the players executed volley shots in pes4. But that's about it... The rest of the game was fab...

I so agree with you....I stopped playing both PES4 & PES5 for 4 months so I could give PES5 a chance withought having PES4 feeling in my fingers....but PES5 still sucks big time.

To all those who say PES5 brings you back to real football..where you cant dribble past whole team etc etc...you guys must be retarded. In PES5 its impossible to do anything...players dont obey..pass like retards even it they are great players...they move & glive 3 meters whey you change direction...they do bodymovements which stinks up your play.

The stats dont mean shite...AI cheats in every level...you can never play well...Ronaldinho sucks. Etoo is slower than a turtle , you might as well play with Klimancrock or whatever cause good teams stink.
Shooting, passing everything stinks...everybody are out of positions, you cant have a flowing game where its just a midfield battle where every ball goes to CPU. Great players lose possession like blonds loose virginity after 6pack beer..
Overall its not fun anymore. Booooooooo Konami!! you ruined the best game!!!

Oh wait, you did; Pro evo 2 updated to pro evo 3. Maybe you might actually get it fucking right in pro evo 6. Here's fucking hoping.

Oh yeah, and to people online who play it, I am not "just shit", the game is just shit. I am just about to go and have a rattle at Pro Evo 3 and actually enjoy playing the series for once since October. Put the fun back into it Konami, or I'll just put up with the even crapper Fifa, just cos it actually plays how I want it, with a little fun and enjoyment.

I tried 1 star setting, played okay, waaaaaaaaaaay too easy. put it to 2 and players started to run rings around me and pass like I wasn't on the pitch. 3,4,5 & 6 stars are even worse, having no distinct difference in playing style of the opposing team. They just play like super robots from the super football planet of addireeni (ADDidasREEbokNIke).

I hate this game more than I hate Sam Carson and piles.

Konami is going downwars while EA is imroving...Just got FIFA 2006 & I have to say sadly that EA 2006 is more enjoyable than PES5 but not than PES4. Its so sad sad sad!!!

I know how you feel man. One broken knuckle from beating the shite out of my control pad says I know how you feel. That and not having a single analogue stick pad that works anymore due to said beatings. They just aren't tough enough to compete with the frustrated gamers!

The real problem is not the cpu cheating (though IT exists). The real problem aint what ppl say "master the game","learn to play" cause I can adopt to certain playing styles and win, a thing I m sure many others can do. The real problem aint that we dont love the game, cause me and others who talk of the obvious problems of the fifth PES have bought every single one of the series.

The real problem is that you CAN'T create certain completely do-able playing styles which you could in PES4, and the fact that you have to discard some of these playing styles off your tactics board if you want to win.

The real problem of the game are the pathetic through balls and especially the long ones that tend to be sometimes super-precise while being taken off from the player's living room to the other side of the court, and at the same time can't be executed in a short distance between two completely free of any defender players while walking their way towards the empty (of goalkeeper) nets.

And honestly, I have only seen so far muad'Dib talking about it, and insisting to talk about it, like I do, which is very strange to me.

If you don't see the above fact, the broken to pieces through ball system, then you don't care to see the game being better. You only care to win, I don't. I want to have fun playing with imagination and creativity. Konami limited both of these with 5.

I m waiting to see WI9 hoping, though the chances are slim, that it will be fixed.
