Just a summary of how full of sh*te Konami has been for the past few years.

Just a quick summary stating what should be obvious by now -- PES is a series in decline, and Konami keeps throwing more and more lies to cover it up.

Pointless thread?? Call it whatever you want, but Konami deserves this type of criticism for adding insult to injury.. blatantly lying to their own customers.

* Without wasting any more words, this are just some of the quotes from Seabass on PES08:

“We have taken a long hard look at what has made the Pro Evolution Soccer series so popular, and where we want to take it next,"

"With the new Teamvision AI system, we truly believe that we have elevated the game to a new level. The movement of players off the ball, coupled with the total control given to the player, creates the closest simulation of real football to date. We really hope everyone enjoys our evolution. I promise it will be worth the wait."

"We have also introduced our new Teamvision AI. This is a sophisticated AI programme that learns and adapts according to the player's style of gameplay".

"We cannot say which but there are plenty of new moves in the game. When we say moves it's not just about a single, certain move either. Instead there are more subtle things, such as the timing of passes, the start of runs… We've tweaked and changed these timings and that affects the way the game plays, so much so it often feels like some of the moves are new".

"We realised that past PES games were pretty much close to perfect - we tweaked the games every year and continued to do so for a long time, so it was natural for the game to be good. However, we knew we'd have to start afresh for the next-gen game".

"I am most proud that we created something that surpasses PES6. In terms of AI and the way the game plays, I think this creates a new game to the PES of old. The traditional PES graphics have improved too and I'm proud we have accomplished both - the graphics and the gameplay - at the same time. You will have a great time with your friends, I guarantee that!".

* This comments are from Jon Murphy, PES Project Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH:

"“The announcement of a new PES game is always a highlight for Konami, but PES 2009 looks set to reaffirm the series’ utter superiority,”

“We are committed to extending the realism of the new game with a wealth of key gameplay additions, and will produce a football title that truly embodies all the skill and pace that is good about the modern game.”

* This next one is from Kunio Neo, president of Konami:

"“We are extremely confident that PES 2008 will be welcomed as the greatest football game of all time,”

“Demand is massive for what is easily the best Pro Evolution Soccer title to date, and we anticipate record sales as we bring the series to PlayStation 3 for the first time, and unleash stunning versions for all leading formats.”

* This are comments posted by Konami, don't know who wrote or came up with them, but I still find this quotes amusing:

"The new game has undergone a stunning graphical update to ensure its players look and move even more like their real-life counterparts"

"Similarly, all-new options allow users to tailor the game to their own tastes, while new moves, innovative new control elements and key online elements will further the realism of the new game".

"PES09 is the most advanced, most realistic and most satisfying , PES game to date. The game has made radical advances, including new moves, innovative new control elements and a vastly improved online mode to further enhance the realism.

With a stunning graphical update and a wealth of gameplay improvements, PES 2009 truly embodies all the skill and pace that makes the modern game beautiful".

Just a quick read and you would have to agree that Seabass and rest of the guys at Konami are pretty full of shit.

And I must question.. just how is it exactly that the players "move even more like their real-life counterparts" ??? I would really like to know, considering each and every single player in the game moves like a robot.

Would also like to know about the "key gameplay additions", What could that be?

And I don't even need to elaborate on the "vastly improved online mode".

Fortunately the fans have showed them they aren't fooled, and have done so in the best of ways -- The series has taken its 1st significant dip in sales, the clearest hint of decline to date.

By now Konami must know that if they keep this Fiasco going -the- sales will keep declining.

You forgot to add that Seabass interview where he said that FIFA 09 engine is better than PES2009.

I know that all of this bothers you otherwise you wouldn't have brought it up this way but the reality is that all companies that produce products speak highly of their product and try and market it in such a way that covers up their flaws.
this is the marketing strategy all companies use so u can't really think that KONAMI will ever speak ill of the products they produce and the same goes for EA or any other game producing company for that matter.
we can't even trust critics anymore because even they can be bought.
so when it comes down to it it is your experience with the game that really counts because every company will always tell you that their latest installment is their best one yet, just so you can buy it.

"Don't believe the hype"

-- Flava Flav.

PS - I love the new PES despite the issues above. The more I play the better it gets. Not disappointed, except for small gmaeplay issues which can be expected. I play BAL so much that I don't have time for online play anyway, but Konami definitely seem blind to what their product is really like in that respect. I would hesitate to jump to the conculsion that they are "blatantly lying" about anything though. It's more likely due to a lack of expertise in the online-arena, though certainly throwing more money at the server capacity and technology should resolve it - but I'm no expert at that either so I shoudln't talk.

That's obvious.. and a bit embarrassing for me, because it's 100% true.

Just spreading nonsense out of my disappointment. But I really think Konami have taken it to a new level of arrogance. Showing little or no finesse in their marketing.

Talking about all this "new gameplay additions" that in fact have been in the game for years. This isn't helping them.

heys guys i for one still love this game and its way better than fifa
no two games on pes are the same
can you say that about fifa?
fifa lacks the fluidity of pro simple as that
if it was a better game i would buy it
even pes 2008 was great the only places its let down is on online play
a major factor nowadays nonetheless and the license's
this year they seem to trying to appeal to a certain fifa element with some arcadey play mixed with the realism that we are used to.
this arcadey play is too powerful in my opinion a'la messi ronaldo eto etc
but to make out its complete shite is bullshit
you can still enjoy the beautiful passing game on pes
i think sometime pes is a victim of its own success and we expect and some even demand perfection when this just isn't plausible.
so give the guys a break and support them to keep trying to bulid on this game because i tell you what if konami stop making this game you can guarentee fifa will stop trying to improve once there's no competion to worry about and then we really will have something to complain about

i completely agree with u but what i think AMATUER means is the way the marketing is done.
because the truth is that the game itself hasn't changed that much when u compare it too all the thing that were said about it by the producers except ofcourse the graphics the other things aren't that noticeable or they just aren't there and although i like the game the biggest addition is BAL and even that was already in the game but just not in the same way it is now.

people running thru your defence like crazy with a ball glued to their feet, is that the idea of improved gameplay seabass talks about?

seriously PES5 was so much more fun it was smart, diffucult, there were lots of different styles to play that game. online was the shit when playing with a good conn, it was soo much fun, pes2008/2009 dont compare nothing to it.

I have been playing football games since the first fifa was released and converted when pes5 came out like somebody else it totally blew my mind.
Pes6 was a solid game too but when 2008 came out it wasn't as good as they made it out to be. Although i thought to myself maybe they will get it right for the next iteration since its all next gen stuff and fifa wasn't so great either when they went next gen.
But i heard 2009 wasn't that good so i only rented it. what rubbish it was.

i agree with RAMAXWY. for obvious reasons companies speak highly of their products but Amateur makes a good point Konami is full of crap. what they said makes them seem arrogant because of the success of the old titles and how well it was received they talk about how its the best sim out.

there is a difference between speaking highly of a product and just being ignorant.

although EA's title has its flaws it is leaps and bounds better the last 2 editions and sales prove that.
