i`m not usually one for complaining ,usually i just grit my teeth and get on with it

but i cant stand it any more ,ive been playing PES online for 4 months now and ive clocked up over 800 games ,but theres an unholy ammount of cheating and unfairness online , i find 10% of people want real enjoyment out of their online play and the rest i have labled "KONAMI RATING MUPPETS" ,my reasons for this are as follows

network ,as i constantly tell people "put your ethernet cable in" why cant konami put this in the online section of manual ,wireless causes loss of connectivity and causes the game to lag ,the worst are the ones who say "its ok my end" or "ive never had any problems before" ,but they are host ,theirs isnt going to be as bad as mine

i now always chose newcastle ,(unless someone clicks into a lesser team before me) ,what do the oppisistion choose ,inter ,barcelona,chelsea ,brazil etc ,anything but a fair game ,i dont mind playing them in a way because i`m confident enough to beleive i can beat them ,as i know the strengths and weakenesses of all my players ,where hopefully they will not have their team balanced and i take full advantage

now i dont mind if someone always plays with the likes of barcelona but what i do mind is someone putting on as the room name "SMALL TEAMS ONLY" then go straight to fulham but not click in ,then expect you to click in a small team for them only to switch at the last minute to manchester utd and click in

cutbacks ,i`m not against them ,because i beleive if an oppurtunity arrises you should take them but i am against a player who only uses this tactic for eg thier player picks up the ball in midfeild does a 180 run to the touch line then down to the bi line runs right to the 6 yard box and cuts it back ,now one or two of these a game i dont mind ,it could be just how the game pans out ,also cutbacks from open play this one i do use myself when i break and their keeper runs out and i`m on the edge of his 18 yard box if my other foreward is breaking with him and is also visable and free ,i pass for an almost certain goal ,to me thats dissapoiting and cheap but its realistic ,in the same way taking the keeper on by running around to his 6 yard box ,cheap dissapointing but realistic but as with 6 yard cut backs ,if they only use one of these tactics all game to attack and score ,it pisses me right off

for me all of the above kills the spirit of the game ,when a player does nothing but one cheap tactic all game ,like the guys who make 1 pass all game ,i cant beleive they get enjoyment from the game but keep playing to get higher up the rankings

but as like many of the fair players ive played its much much better game when you play using a varied attack and pass rather than run run run run run run ,when i get these type of games i`m proud to be involved even when i get hammered by genuinely better players ,i still feel theres something to learn by that ,but for the KONAMI RATING MUPPETS please take up FIFA

I NEVER play ranking games as everyone is to concerned about their rankings and all they do is go barca / brazil run run run an cut back!

i like to pick a random team an see what i can do with them, not saying i never cut back but only if the time calls for it i would rather score a great goal than be boring!

if anyone wants a game of random teams invite me on a non ranking game

i am thinking of starting up a fair league ,using 10-20 players where we are all assigned set teams for a season in the non ranking section ,if 20 players want to play ,then i`ll take the middle teams of the EPL and 6 or so equally matched teams from other leagues

UK only preferably on a monday or thursday between 6-10 pm we could possibly play 4 games each a night

obviously there would have to be fair play meaning correct results ,being reported

I don't think people who have to use barcelona are very good, i don't repect those people who beat me with barcelona by running through my players and bouncing off tackles.

I am exactly the same as you dicky_t! Even down to the fact that I use Newcastle in every game. I've had a few satisfying victories against idiots who hover over fulham and quickly change to Inter, but mostly I lose. One thing you didn't mention about these tossers is the fact that they abuse you in the chatting saying "hahahaha you're shit" - This really winds me up and I come off the game all hot and bothered! It feels very unfair. The best games I've played are with people on here, so just add me, kevthedrummer and I'll happily play you online sometime!

lol obviously u cant both be playing with newcastle, i'm totally in agreement with u guys, i tend to play with athletico madrid as my team and they tend to give most teams a good game no matter if they are a Konami rating muppet or a fair player. i hardly play it online due to all the problems and i also rarely play ranked games as i dont see the point but feel free to add me if u feel like a game anytime.

I always used to choose "Random" when selecting teams, whether it be against a friend or Online. I sometimes even felt filthy if I pressed Random and it landed on a team like Chelsea as the other person may just suspect I chose them. :mellow:

However with PES 2008, I find it simply impossible to play Online, purely because of the lag. Therefore I've been pushed back to PES6 every now and then if I want to play Online against a mate. Shame really but you can't particularly expect any better from Konami thesedays.

Yeah i used to choose random when i played against my nephew online but when i did play online against " KONAMI RATING MUPPETS! " as you call them (and i agree totally!) i always play with Chelsea.

Its the team i support so its the team i play with and again, as you said, you know the strengths and weaknesses of your squad and who plays where etc which gives the gaming experience a more tactical approach rather than " i choose the inter because they have adriano and brazil because they have ronaldinho "...

To me that completely spoils the online game for PES. Which i suppose is why i stopped. It just gets ridiculous when you go more than 2-0 against the people who use these " big teams ", they quit...

i know exactly what you mean ,the only reason i didnt acknowledge them ,is the fact they only do that when they are playing with the better team eg newcastle v barcelona ,now we both know the newcastle defence is pretty poor ,nicky butt being the second best defensive stat i think says it all ,which makes it tough to try and defend against a team with much better attacking stats so you need to concentrate and they only do that to put you off your game and make you loose concentration ,i usaully just reply "have your balls dropped yet " and let them deal with that untill the end of the game

although its satisfying when you defend well ,the odds are stacked against you keeping a clean sheet ,i found against opponents who run at you like that flat back 4 deep with a very deep diamond midfeild and my forewards playing as wingers ,played counter attack against them very well although chances are few and far between

i used my forewards like that to catch out their full backs when his team pushed foreward ,then every time i won the ball ,i knocked it to the wing ,then ran down using his pace then crossed it in to the box using the 3circle cross (aka keegan style) ,the ball is hit with pace acoss the floor of the box onto the oncoming foreward to slot home

or you can do just to do what i do now ,change to england and match the opposing teams stats

Last night I played a game my opponent was Blackburn, and I was Athletico Madrid.
Was one of the best games i had in ages, end to end stuff, none of that run run run shit.. I ended up winning 1-0 after he messed up in defence.
There aren't enough people like that online sadly, most are generally just twats who cant play the game, and rely on being a "one trick pony" as I like to call them.

thats my point ,too many people use the easy way of playing ,i know having a guy running is a tactic of the game but if he is running he is controling the ball and pulling your players around ,he is ultimately dictating the pace and possesion of the game ,usually running into empty spaces to create rather than use of passing

having an opponent run at you ,can be easy defencively if you have the right team but if your team is wrong actually getting a tackle in is almost impossible

passing if you get it wrong ,you loose the ball ,get it right and you can go from one end to scoring without the opposistion getting a touch no matter who the oppisistion is and these goals feel special

but i ask you ,whats the best game you have played in ,game where the opponents run ,or a game where opponent carves you open with passing

whos the better player ,the player who runs makes 6 passes all game (in his own half)does cutbacks and scores 4 or the player who passes all game ,is creative and scores 2

passing and creating chances takes more skill ,ability ,vision and team play to peform ,one pass goes wrong the whole move can break down ,get it wrong in running it goes out of play ,or you have to make a hurried pass to get rid of it

basically its too easy to run ,although there is a skill to running with the ball ,but if you get beat by a runner ,you feel dissapointed ,you get beat by a passer ,you feel beaten but comforted by the style of play

for me id rather play win or loose with passing style and creativity ,than to run and win ugly

I like playing with spurs or everton. I dont mind playing the bigger teams sometimes but 2 players chose Brazil when just before the timer went and France. beat them both!
I like when you get two middle of the road teams that are quite close together and have a few star players. but mostly hard working teams.
i think the teams play better if you mix it up.

when i play with a weak team against a big team i.e. barcelona. i try to be more care in possession and take less risks with my passes but it means my offensive threat is reduced and i have to take my chances. the thing is when i lose the ball u gt the messi's and all these others who just run through u even when u tackle them. example i was porto against barcelona i was gettin battered 4-0 at half time even though i had most possession and as many shots as my opponent, who did through balls to the wing, run and it's all history. 2nd half i adopted a more ruthless aproach and took chances with more crosses and more direct passes, and it paid of as i came back to make it 4-4 in the end. that made me happy, coz i like upsetting the big boys.
i hate these people who don't utilise all the players on their team and just try to get the ball to one guy all the time. thats so sad.
