WENB said:This news and pictures of the document leaked onto the internet earlier and has been doing the rounds on various forums (including ours), but before we posted about it we’ve tried our best to understand it fully. With this new found knowledge we present you with the news, and more importantly what we think it means for PES 2009. Some surprises in store…
First off the pics, released by PSPGEN. A huge thanks to them:
Secondly, a massive thanks to ThomasGOAL from WeArePes for helping out with the translations.
So, before we get onto the info, a lesson in explaining what the IDEF event is and who its for. The expo, as it says on the official site , is an event for games companies and distributors. This means no press, no media. Just the folks who are in charge of buying products, and then distributing them. So in this event, which was held between 24-26 June, wasn’t exclusive to Konami - it was for anyone in the industry.
Now onto the document. This release was handed out to the relevent people a few days before the event took place, detailing what to expect from the show. A quick translation reveals 3 important things. These are (thank again Thomas!):
new exceptional ambassador, a lot of new stadiums (few unpublished & exclusive), and new licence with a new partnership (this partnership make a bomb in videogame and football)
First off, its quickly easy to realise the ‘new ambassador’ means a new face of PES 2009. We’re backing it to be Messi, so case closed on that one. The news about new stadiums is to be expected after the low number in PES 2008, but the exclusive note suggests some we haven’t seen before too. And finally, what everyone should be excited about, is the news of a new license and partnership that will ‘make a bomb in videogame and football.’
Sorry guys, but that has to be the Champions League License. I was thinking that particular news was crazy at first, but after chatting to Suff about it as well, WENB’s stance is that it will be in PES 2009. A total guess obviously, but I cant think of another license really that could cause an impact. Obviously there are a few (EPL anyone?), but in the sense of a license that isn’t tied up by EA until the end of time - this is the one.
With the event happening last week, we’re hoping for an official word from Konami very soon. I was hoping for leaks in July, we’re off to a good start.
Very interesting to be honest, seems possible too.
