Master League difficulty

Hey,

I consider myself to be alright at pro evo, I can hold my own on regular difficulty using normal teams but when I come to play ML I get dominated. I understand that your ML team starts off as a poor one, but it seems ridiculously hard, every game is either a defeat, a 0 0 draw or on the odd occasion I scrape a 1-0 win.

I can't get past any players because they are so slow, a slight brush against an opponent player means I lose the ball, the opponents seem to be able to skip past me at will, although my defending is improving. Every opponent corner involves a headed shot on goal because my players are all so small. I've tried using wingers, that doesn't work because I can't get past anyone and even if I do no one on my team can head the cross in. My current method is just slowly passing the ball up the park (half the passes are off target) getting progresively closer to the box, then I get stuck because usually then the striker needs to get past a defender to shoot.

I understand you can't straight away have a winning team, but is it just a matter of sticking it out until my team gains experience, or are there any useful tactics I might be missing?

cheers

You said there that players just seem to be able to skip past you. One tip I will give you on that is not to dive in. Ok as a defender you want to be able to win the ball as often as possible but sometimes dropping off the play and jockeying a man until he miss controls it can help. I cant really help you on much else until i get the game for my Bday on Saturday.

^ totally agree, I get alot more enjoyment when I transform a team of rookies into a force to be feared, best of luck mate.

BTW ive been told by several people that the shooting system is alot harder I was just wondering if you can confirm this edd1986?

if your team doesn't have the pace to beat people then you aren't going to score down the center - you need to work the wings. remember you can pass the ball a lot faster than any of the players in pes 6 can run, so you need to work on your passing strategy.

in pes6 you are a lot more likely to score headers and volleys than ever before. (also corners are a great source of goals). so here is my tip:

go for a formation with width and work the ball from side to side along the back line and forward and back to your central mids, eventually the computer will open a huge gap down one side of the pitch and you can work the ball accross the park and down the empty wing.

make sure you have your biggest best header in the center up front and whip those crosses in with double tap of circle and practice the timing in free practice with no defenders you'll score a few goals. when you are 1-0 up you'll start to get more space and maybe score some goals on the break every now and then. good luck mate!

oh yeah, half way through the season you need to sign some players on free and again at the end of the season you can negotiate contracts with the 17 year olds, they'll be crap to start with but as is well documented on here they'll develop into stars of the future. it's much more satisfying than buying adriano or ronaldinho or whatever which is a bit like cheating.

The wing play is a good idea Im using it at the moment but try to not play both the wingers too far up as it opens your midfield too much. Also, when negotiating go to 'players openess to negotiations' especially on top player and very hard difficulty.

Online, i use spain and my formation works really well at whatever level. I use 4-4-2 with a diamond in midfield. I have a Garcia on the left (good at heading) and joaquin on the right (good at crossing) This works well cause when i cross with joaquin - i have my 2 forward and my left winger who can head

With the default team, i would have any back 4, then a defensive midfielder like minanda, then a good header person on the left (search through, c what player is best) then have espinas or burchet on the right (on the touchline) that way u will have width. The two forwards should by Hygens and ordaz.

Hope this helps. Keep going with the passing, try not to play blind passes and have a formation with maybe 5 in midfield and them close together for short passes.

My team is base copied from all the best players so my team are pretty good and I beat Inter 5-1 on Top Player, this is starting to wear thin as I am getting bored now.

For you though Its all about defending well and buying a fast forward and a few good passers. Once the team 'Gels' and their teamwork increases then you should start to win games easier. Remember your the one choosing to be shite, then you can't get frustrated about not winning.

yeah good point arca :p

I bought that Park chu young fella, he seems good - scored a couple of goals. My main problem is defending corners, my defenders never, ever win the header and always results in a headed shot on goal. its about 50/50 as to weather they score atm.

I had the same problem at first, what you need to do is change to a well positioned defender, which gives you about 5 sec. and put
him on the target man (such as Prso if you have Rangers in your 2nd div as I do), also move ahead of the target man once the kick is taken. It genuinely seems to help. Only problem is when the CPU doesnt allow you to change to a player in the 6 box then you're stuffed.

I found on corners that picking a defender (doesn't seem to matter which one) and moving him in line with the near post, just inside the six yard box is a pretty safe way of clearing most corners. AI seems to 90% of the time hit the same area.

The better the opponent the less effective though...

In open play i use diamond with one man just in front of the back 4, with attack setting to go back to own net. Works to fill in any gaps you might leave when pushing forwards.

I started with the default players too and like you i found it fucking hard! It took me five seasons to get promoted to D1! But it's best to stick with it and try and build a good team.

I recommend you use a 4-5-1 formation with the default players and try and counter attack. Make the formation look something like this:

RB---CB---CB---LB
-------DMF-------
-------CMF---------
RMF-------------LMF
-------AMF--------
-------CF---------

Your two CB and DMF should have high defense arrow, with attacking arrow going down, RB/LB, RMF/LMF, CMF, AMF, with Normal defense and CF with low attacking arrow with attacking arrow pointing upwards.

Also when the transfer window is opened, buy a tall, strong DMF that can sit in front of your two CB and put CMF (preferable Dodo) in the middle of the park to help you team attack and defend. Also don't forget you've got Jaric who's a good CB that can play as a DMF, so could be a could use to you if you can't afford a good DMF.

@peon I find it really hard myself. When i'm shooting, the power of the shoot seems to be higher than how i actualy pressed the :square: button. I missed A LOT of good chances because of this, even in front of goal i've messed up with the ridiculous shooting in this game. I have to tap :square: with the slightest of touchiest, even then it still goes over the bar!

Get into the habit of using the r2 when shooting close range and hooking the ball i.e. if left footed aim for the right corner and vice versa this usually works when your striker or whoever is taking the shot is well positioned.

i have struggle to play my usual best pes6 is alot harder i have really struggled on regular mode but normally never have on pes.

i change to 4-3-3 if i do an push wingers, but its hard to do that as midfield battle is lost..so i would recommend 4-5-1 but i aint fussed if i lose i lose.
